Noteable mentions: -Jugg isn't caught inside vacuum so he can freely spin (spell immuned) before ravage hit. -Light of Heaven with his super fast bkb black hole. -Rubrick force staffing out before ravage and lifting Lina so she can't do her stun. -Look carefully at 1:48, Tide is about to Anchor Smash right after Ravage so Rubick can't spell steal Ravage but THE VERY MILLISECOND before the animation for smash goes through, he gets sucked into the black hole. Seriously, look very closely, that Tide's arm was at the end of animation before it got canceled. -Rubick now walks back into the fray with the stolen ravage to give the team a much needed AoE stun after black hole. -Not that it mattered at this point, 4:18, Tide STILL wanted wanted to Anchor Smash before he dies AND AGAIN, THE VERY MILLISECOND before the animation finished he gets hexed by Shaman. The fight was literally 10 seconds but once you break down all the key plays from LoH and Dendi, this is hands down the most GOAT plays.
Also, puck jaunting in just in time to get black holed. And enchantress somehow getting her sprites out before ravage hit her (the cast time must be faster than the animation).
Dude I was about to point this out and saw this comment. Dude right about Tidehunter going to finish the anchor smash animation he gets black holed! I had to rewatch it because I'm like wait how did dendi get the ravage if Tide is clearly doing anchor smash but then you see that Tides anchor smash animation didn't get to finish so then Dendi is free to claim Ravage!!!! It took me years to even pay attention to that detail!! Man what a play. What. A. Play. If one mistake is made this wouldn't have ever become The Play as we know it! Such luck to have a memorable play with memorable commentary man. The commentators used such iconic words and tone that forever it will be like a symphony paired with a beautiful scene. Can't be The Play without the iconic commentary, can't be perfect commentary without The Play.
It's four years since I first watched the video. I usually don't care for slow motion videos, but there's something really special about this moment. It's partly because we were all there, we knew the stakes and it blew our minds. This video, I didn't watch it a million times or anything like that, but it's one of the most vivid memories I have period. Watching this video, the audio is so expertly done from the moment we hear Naga Siren. I remembered staring intently at the video and thinking to myself how the Juggernaught immediately bladefurries into the center, how there were so many details you couldn't have seen in the one second window everything turned around. Breathtaking.
It's... beautiful. I mean I knew the game looks awesome, I'm playing it everyday after all. But seeing it in SlowMo is really making it incredibly beautiful. Very well done, Sir, the music choice was good. Thank you Valve, for all thos details! PS: The best scene was indeed from 4:41 onwards. But not because of the Ench glitch but because of how Enigma seems to grab and pull out Tidehunters soul. Holy shit it's awesome!
Oh that was dendi stealing Ravage, that's what is going on when you see tide get sucked downwards towards Rubick. If you watch closely, after Tide Ravage is used Tide used anchor smash but right when it's about to finish the animation Tide gets caught in the black hole allowing dendi to claim Ravage! If Enigma is a millisecond late, Dendi doesn't get Ravage because Tides anchor smash animation would have finished!
I'm new to these legends and history of this game. This vid is fantastic... I was kind of hoping that it would end with a fade into Dendi screaming SOSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT in slow motion before fading to credits. Awesome video.
LightOfHeaven....amazing. Instant BKB to Blackhole stopping tide from anchor smashing helping Dendi steal ravage. Wish he was still playing for Na'Vi, guy is amazing and deserves the recognition.
That BKB, spin and force staff, even though they were probably spamming it, it's still a beauty to see. Also, although you can't really see it here, Dendi used telekinesis on Lina right after force staffing himself out of the ravage so that she wouldn't be able to stun anyone or do anything really. So to me he was the real mvp, even though LoHs black hole was awesome.
I can explain it. IG smoke ganked. Naga sleeper everyone. Dark seer vacuumed. Naga ended her ult, riptide, immediately enigma bkbs and jugg spins. Enigma black holes 4 people, tide ravages just before but does nothing because enigma BKBed. Lina tried to stun but same thing. Rubick steals ravage. Navi cleans up
Not only a clutch BKB but also a clutch casting of Blade Fury by Juggernaut. Kept him safe during the Ravage, Puck's nuke and Lina's LSA. And did a good chunk of damage with Enigma's Black Hole. Amazing play.
The spears on enchantres fade when the tidehunter dies, so no spear goes flying into a dead hero, then it also fades and is replaced with the glowing one when she uses impetus, which uses a different type of projectile... that's not just optimization, it gives the best result when you see it in normal speed.
Seriously, just the timing on all of this is perfect. He pulls tide in just as he's about to cast smash so Dendi can get ravage. Hell of a lucky cast, but still perfect
No. 1000 Frames per seconds, you already said it, he recorded 1000 Frames in only one second. If it would be 1 frame per second it would be unwatchable, just imagine , the blackhole lasts 3 secs, and you have 3 pictures for those 3 seconds? No way. It has nothing to do with "fast" or "slow" , 1000 FPS if it is really 1000 just gives you the ability to use a super slowmo and gain amazing results. Well done Sir.
He did get it off, enigma and jugg were magic immune though, that's why it's so impressive, it's Na'vi show casing their naga wombo combo teamfight counter, in the form of jugg,
Lucas Gonçalves Not really, i mean yeah, it was definitely a very important factor, but enigma and tide were pretty common picks, jugg however wasn't used at all in the pro scene until Na'vi used it, Puppey even talked about having a counter for naga who was almost a perma ban at the start of ti3
Nick Kellner i didn't mean the ravage, the riptide. if he was able to cast it, dendi would not have been able to steal ravage and iG could have had a fighting chance, maybe back up or something so the damage wont be as big
Let's try this: 0. This happened off-screen and prior to this. Dire side (Naga Siren, Dark Seer, Tidehunter, Puck, Lina) is doing a wraparound while Radiant team (Enigma, Rubick, Shadow Shaman, Enchantress, Juggernaut) is destroying the tier 1 tower in the bottom lane. Dark Seer used surge on Naga Siren to give her max move speed. Naga Siren used Sleep, her ultimate skill which puts all enemy heroes to sleep (unable to use item, skills, move or attack). Conversely, you can't do anything to enemies while they are under the effect of sleep either. 0:00 While the Radiant team is under the effect of sleep, the Dire team moves into position while Naga Siren uses Mirror Image to create illusions of herself. 0:35 Dark Seer casts Vacuum, which brings 4 Radiant heroes to the bright shiny glow in the middle. Radiant heroes Shadow Shaman (upper left), Enigma (middle), Enchantress (right), and Rubick (lower left) are pulled in (positions relative to the cast point of Vacuum. 1:05 Naga casts Riptide, denoted from the splash around her illusions, and ends the sleep (Sleep is one of a few skills that can be manually ended earlier if desired). THIS PART IS IMPORTANT: At the same time, Juggernaut (Radiant) uses Blade Fury (spinning red samurai thing on the upper right), which renders him unable to attack using his normal attack, but more importantly makes him immune to most magical effects. The skill also deals significant magic damage in itself. Enigma enables his Black King Bar, an item which also grants the user immunity to most magical effect. Juggernaut also begins to move towards Naga Siren to catch the enemy team in the radius of his Blade Fury. 1:14 THIS IS IMPORTANT. Rubick (green guy with a staff) uses his Force Staff, an item that quickly moves a hero the direction he's facing, to get out of the middle of the fight. This move will prove itself critical later. 1:23 Tidehunter (big green guy slightly to the left) uses Ravage, a skill that shoots tentacles out of the ground in a large radius around himself. It stuns and deals significant damage. Four heroes are caught in the radius (Rubick Force Staff'd himself out of danger previously) but two of them are currently immune to magic (Juggernaut and Enigma) so only Enchantress and Shadow Shaman takes the hit. From the lower left part of the screen, Puck uses Illusory Orb, which shoots an orb that deals damage while travelling in a straight and you can teleport to it (which Puck will do later). 1:50 Tidehunter tries to use Anchor Smash, which reduces the damage dealt by enemies around him. He starts the animation but doesn't finish it. This detail will be important later. 2:00 THIS IS THE TURN OF THE TIDE. Lina's (almost offscreen at the bottom center) Light Strike Array (deals damage and stuns after 1.6 seconds) lands, and Enigma casts Black Hole, an ultimate skill that drags everyone around it into the center of the hole while dealing damage and making them unable to do anything. The difference between Black Hole and Sleep is that you can still be attacked while under the influence of Black Hole. Three of Dire's heroes are caught (Naga, Dark Seer, and Tidehunter). Lina gets Telekinesis'ed by Rubick (offscreen), which lifts her up and renders her disabled for the duration. 2:14 Puck jaunts to her orb, which is in the cast radius of Black Hole. This is a mistake made by Puck, as by then it is pointless to do so. Puck, consequently, gets dragged in. 2:16 THIS IS IMPORTANT. Rubick uses Spell Steal, which steals the last spell used by a hero, on Tidehunter. You can see an image of Tidehunter being absorbed by Rubick in the lower right. 2:54 Enchantress uses her item Mekansm, which heals the team by 250 HP and increases their armour. You can see the green +250 text around. Shadow Shaman moves north out of the fight and Rubick moves north into the fight. 3:20 Telekenesis ends and Lina drops back to the ground. 3:24 Rubick uses Ravage, which was stolen from Tidehunter. All Dire heroes are affected. 3:31 Shadow Shaman uses ether shock Ether Shock, hitting four targets (only Lina is too far away). 3:52 Puck dies. 4:12 Rubick uses Fade Bolt, a green tinged chain lightning kind of skill. Hits the remaining three heroes in the Black Hole area and kills Dark Seer and Naga Siren. 4:29 Tidehunter tries to use Anchor Smash again, but is cancelled by Shadow Shaman's skill called Hex, which turns an enemy into a chicken. You have no skills and can't use items while hexed. Radiant focused their right-click attacks on Tidehunter. 4:43 and onwards. Tidehunter falls, and Radiant turns their focus on Lina (bottom/offscreen) to complete the teamwipe. All five of Radiant's heroes survived, while Dire lost all their heroes. I tried my best to explain it in layman terms and using the right names for heroes and skill. If you still have trouble following, send me a reply and I'll be glad to explain any questions that you have.
Coda Emir Thanks. I've spent upwards of 1 year learning how to play Dota 2 from scratch since watching this video with the express intention of understanding how exactly Na'Vi won this teamfight. However, I must say that with the latest patch this will not be 100% possible due to the rework of skills for some of the heroe, notably Tide's Kraken Shell will proc regardless of being hexed as hex (turning into a chicken) will no longer disable passive skills. Although I must say that this will, at most, result in Tidehunter surviving the encounter or getting a return kill.
wow the blackhole is millisecond perfect watch the tide after the ravage sooooooo close to getting anchor off the blade fury and bkb not to mention dendi force staff which allowed him to avoid and than steal the ravage thats the best execution of a teamfight i have ever seen
nice thanks for the information (Im also Programming^^). But I never used a seperate thread for input nor did I feel it was necessary. Is this common though?
I wish the video maker would have zoomed and moved the camera too... Ah well, awesome video nonetheless, I love how Juggernaut seems to spin forever xD
It was the precursor to defense of the ancients. It wasn't anywhere as good as dota or have a big following, but this was the first game created within the ARTS genre
All a high speed video camera does is take pictures very quickly. Most high speed cameras today record at 1000 frames per second. So that camera is capturing 1000 frames every second.1000fps will allow you to view a scene with very fluid movement, because more frames were taken within one second. The source engine can have its maximum fps modified with the console (default is 120 for dota 2), all you need is a good system, a lot of memory, and good recording software to capture it.
I was pointing at the monitor response time. Sorry, didnt make that clear enough. And btw you always get Input only every frame. How would you update input inbetween frames Oo?.
Noteable mentions:
-Jugg isn't caught inside vacuum so he can freely spin (spell immuned) before ravage hit.
-Light of Heaven with his super fast bkb black hole.
-Rubrick force staffing out before ravage and lifting Lina so she can't do her stun.

jesus christ
+Hellonion Lina did actuall stun but didn't stun Enigma
+Hellonion 4:40 Enigma summons Tide

at 1:52 damn look at how close Tidehunter was in getting off his Anchor Smash before Dendi can steal ravage.

Well, I guess it just another one of those times when I need to revisit this god damn classic. Thank you again for making the video!
RIP You legends
this is my favourite video of all time. Thank you
They will chain you, like Prometheus, to a rock, and the memory of your own greatness will gnaw you.
Best play in dota history. I watched this shit live it was incredible.
Lotus 2/10 attempt at trolling
Actually try next time
You were in the crowd!!?
@@Sonceria Haha no I watched it live on stream I meant wish I was there though
It's... beautiful. I mean I knew the game looks awesome, I'm playing it everyday after all. But seeing it in SlowMo is really making it incredibly beautiful. Very well done, Sir, the music choice was good.
Thank you Valve, for all thos details!

LightOfHeaven....amazing. Instant BKB to Blackhole stopping tide from anchor smashing helping Dendi steal ravage. Wish he was still playing for Na'Vi, guy is amazing and deserves the recognition.
Navi: 200 APM, ultra precise movement and counterplay
XBOCT: CYKA BLYAT SPIN TO WIN
That BKB, spin and force staff, even though they were probably spamming it, it's still a beauty to see.

Love how you hear naga singing in the beginning. Sounds like its apart of the song. Really awsome!
The song of the siren gives me chills each time
amazing, Krukar! thanks for making games more than just games.
must not cry...
+E SC its ok to cry evry tiem
One of the best highlights of the tournament EPIC!
Best 7 Mins of my Life.
How do you render this at 1000 FPS?
nice to see this again, magnificent play - i hope mobas wont go out of fashion they are really special competitive games
Navi cleans up
You forgot Dendi's incredibly clutch Force Staff.
Kaisu To be fair, I'm pretty sure that was keymashing, but the point stands that it was still quick thinking.
in real time, it took less than 7 seconds...
"wrap around gank is the name of the game from IG, patience from zhou..."
Not only a clutch BKB but also a clutch casting of Blade Fury by Juggernaut. Kept him safe during the Ravage, Puck's nuke and Lina's LSA. And did a good chunk of damage with Enigma's Black Hole. Amazing play.
Great render. I learnt a lot about valve's animation techniques!
That video got me into dota. I play it ever since
Never noticed how awesome Mekansm looks. :3
If Tide got the anchor smash off and Dendi stole it, it would have been a completely different battle.
This video is amazing. :D
Good music choice.
this was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes
This is so simple and on the other hand so amazing.
this makes me appreciate more on how LoH did his perfect ult to help dendi steal the ravage ult... just wow GOOD SHIT
The spears on enchantres fade when the tidehunter dies, so no spear goes flying into a dead hero, then it also fades and is replaced with the glowing one when she uses impetus, which uses a different type of projectile... that's not just optimization, it gives the best result when you see it in normal speed.
such an amazing play, only a dota player can appreciate it, brings a tear everytime
Look at how beautiful the detailing is. At 1:59, notice how everything just darkens because of Enigma's blackhole. I love Dota.
Seriously, just the timing on all of this is perfect. He pulls tide in just as he's about to cast smash so Dendi can get ravage. Hell of a lucky cast, but still perfect
And people WONDER why we love Dota? I submit this video to any non believer. This was magical. A perfect display of the amazing things possible.
wooooww tide was really like 1/999999 sec away from finishing anchor smash and preventing it from being stolen.
beautiful seeing it that way, thx.
It feels like I need to watch this while high
greatest moment in dota history probably.. Epic game, epic plays, wp IG and Navi
Spectacular. Brilliantly done.
This is absolutely beautiful, I cried
I return here every few years.
It is in moments like this when you realize how beautiful the gaming world is :')
when tide dies and enigma has his hand on his back (it seemed)...man...that's beautiful.
What a beautiful momet,.. Best dota moment for me.. SO FAR!
Rubick is the most dangerous character in dota.
yep
LOH engima looks like god in this video... huge yellow glowing and in the middle, not to mention those beams of light that appare!
Majestic...like a beautiful symphony...
the tidehunter death was so dramatic the feels man the feels
This is one of those moment you will probably never forget..
Oh god, with the music and the Ravage steal animation, Tidehunter looks like : "I'M COMING FOR YOUUUU MY LOOOOOOOOVE"
this is the most beautiful thing i have ever witnessed
thank you, this is so beautiful
no patience from zhou
Epic ambient music + Na'Vi = Better than life
This will go down into Dota history forever.
TEN fucking years 🥲
can't say anythin...... This is Just awesome video .. almost got tears on my eyes........ T.T love it
i'm speechless, this touch the perfection
Just beautiful.
Dendi's play, forcestaffing him self just out of range so he can steal ravage, unbelievable, and all in 0.5 sec.
I got incredibly excited sitting alone and started cheering and got a sick adrenaline rush lol awesome play idc how nerdy it seems.
YES! this is exactly what i needed!
A piece of Art.
No. 1000 Frames per seconds, you already said it, he recorded 1000 Frames in only one second. ok
Great job man, that's amazing
It's like I'm watching something profound and artistic, but it's just a really good Dota 2 play.
Look at the fraction of a second where TH could've used anchor smash but got included in the black hole. So intricate.
did you guys see how close the tide was from getting the rip tide off? :O
He did get it off, enigma and jugg were magic immune though, that's why it's so impressive, it's Na'vi show casing their naga wombo combo teamfight counter, in the form of jugg,
Nick Kellner in the form of enigma*
Lucas Gonçalves
Not really, i mean yeah, it was definitely a very important factor, but enigma and tide were pretty common picks, jugg however wasn't used at all in the pro scene until Na'vi used it, Puppey even talked about having a counter for naga who was almost a perma ban at the start of ti3
Nick Kellner i didn't mean the ravage, the riptide. if he was able to cast it, dendi would not have been able to steal ravage and iG could have had a fighting chance, maybe back up or something so the damage wont be as big
Nick Kellner watch 1:45, you can see tide casting riptide but literally was stopped by blackhole, we're talking nano seconds, how close it was
Oh wow that's a great news. Thanks a lot mate!
Enchants fairies at the end was the best final touch as the whole Na'vi team walks triumphantly away.
The moment when Tide gets hexed and Eni holds his hand right over him and kills him afterwards looks so epic :)
I watched this video in .5 speed and still couldn't understand it
Let's try this:
0. This happened off-screen and prior to this. 3:52 Puck dies.

David Lee Holy fuck
David Lee
Well explained!
David Lee Beautifully written. You even helped clear up discrepancies in my own understanding of the events. Deserves way more thumbs up.
Coda Emir Thanks. I've spent upwards of 1 year learning how to play Dota 2 from scratch since watching this video with the express intention of understanding how exactly Na'Vi won this teamfight.

wow the blackhole is millisecond perfect watch the tide after the ravage sooooooo close to getting anchor off the blade fury and bkb not to mention dendi force staff which allowed him to avoid and than steal the ravage thats the best execution of a teamfight i have ever seen
THIS IS THE BEAUTY OF DOTA!!
I love the first kick of Naga Siren's song!
This is beautiful.
this event will remain its awesomeness in history
I love this 1000fps rendering. You can't really see the tentacle action on enchantress anywhere else.
nice thanks for the information (Im also Programming^^).
But I never used a seperate thread for input nor did I feel it was necessary. Is this common though?
Goddman... that Meka... So beautiful.
Really shows how beautiful the play was :')
For me, Na'Vi will never make another play like this ever again. You will always be remembered, LightofHeaven and Ars-Art.
just beautiful
I wish the video maker would have zoomed and moved the camera too... Ah well, awesome video nonetheless, I love how Juggernaut seems to spin forever xD
So many times when Na'Vi could have gone home. This truly is the turn of the tide.
It was the precursor to defense of the ancients.
It wasn't anywhere as good as dota or have a big following, but this was the first game created within the ARTS genre
I feel like if I knew anything about Dota, I would be in awe right now.
WOOW... so... beautiful (crying)
M83 + Dota2 at 1000 fps = A Fucking Beautiful Dream.
Best moment in the entire tournament in slow motion.
In my opinion... Best fight in the entre tournament!!! one of the best in dota 2 history too!
