- IAMX - I Salute You Christopher (ODE to Christopher Hitchens)
I have create this extended cut of 'I Salute you Christopher' by using the instrumental version used on 'Tin Star', also adding pictures and subtitles. I hope you enjoy this video.
Christopher Hitchens is an author, orator, literary critic and journalist born in Portsmouth, England in 1949.
Radicalised by the 1960s, Hitchens was often arrested at political rallies and was kicked out of the Labour Party over his opposition to the Vietnam War. He graduated from Oxford in 1970. Drinking, arguing and a third-class degree were the stepping stones to a career in journalism.
He began his career in Britain in the 1970s becoming a correspondent for the Socialist Workers Party's International Socialism magazine
and later moved to New York, becoming contributing editor to Vanity Fair magazine in November 1992.
He once stated “I became a journalist partly so that I wouldn't ever have to rely on the press for my information." 'Hitch' quickly gained a reputation for fierce opinion and scathing critique - with the Vietnam War and the Roman Catholic Church both within his sights.
Hitchens travelled extensively and went on to author 12 books and 5 collections of essays, as well as a countless assembly of diverse publications, amongst many other realisations of his goals.
After publicly debating religion with Hitchens the former Prime Minister Tony Blair said, "He was fearless in the pursuit of truth and any cause in which he believed. And there was no belief he held that he did not advocate with passion, commitment and brilliance, He is an extraordinary, compelling and colourful human being."
Richard Dawkins described him as the "finest orator of our time and a valiant fighter against all tyrants including God"
MP Denis McShane said Christoper Hitchens “swam against every tide, a cross of Voltaire and Orwell, he loved words. He could throw words up into the sky, and they would fall down in a marvellous pattern”
Christopher Hitchens died at the age of 62. He succumbed to pneumonia, a complication of the oesophageal cancer which he had developed.
Vanity Fair, which announced his death, said there would "never be another like Christopher", describing him as someone "of ferocious intellect, who was as vibrant on the page as he was at the bar".
Those who read his thoughts know him, and those who know him are profoundly fortunate souls.
This song, written and performed by Christopher Anthony Corner, a musician from Middlesbrough, England, was released following Hitchens death in 2011. It is entitled…
I Salute You Christopher (Ode to Christopher Hitchens)
Would never know about this except watching Tin Star absolutely. Beautiful

Not enough of this man with his integrity in this world 🌎 this is why mankind in centuries or millennia is doomed to survive 😢
Religion in the bane of mankind.
A brilliant post. Thank you.
Tin star
Murder s1
Season 1 was brilliant but the season 3 was the worst
drama I have ever seen. Absolute rubbish.
Good song. 1000% better at 1.25 speed.
HERO
Tin Star. Nothing to add...
Thanks mate! Thought it was just me...
Nothing to add? How utterly fatuous can any one comment be? You have the entire ouvre of Hitchens to comment on and you've got 'Tin Star' Nothing to add'. And worse, my idiot friend, is that your comment was edited, like you actually thought about it, and went with that. You fvcking moron
.
What a scene!
Couldn’t have came at a better moment in the series 👌👌
i second it
😍😍😍😍😍
💜
I salute you Christopher... Your insight into today's woke culture run amok, and BLM cult, would have been valued!
