Chris Corner said that it is ode to Christopher Hitchens during IAMX's concerts in Warsaw, Poland. I've been there and heard that with my own ears:) So FOR SURE it is ode to Christopher Hitchens.

@semprefolle89 There is an information in the inside of Volatile Times album :) "Ode to Christopher Hitchens" and also when he is playing this song on a concert he says that. You can read in many interviews that Chris really like Hitchens and is inspired by his work.
Btw. Hitchens died yesterday... I'm glad that Chris made this Ode before it happened. Anyways, It's a a sad info. Rest in peace, Christopher.

No idea but the lyrics really fits the description. The allusions to explosive words, whiskey, being one of the "horsemens" and submitting no compromise. Who else could it be?

Did I refer to him as a saint? Worship and deep admiration are far opposed, he was influenced heavily by Orwell, Russell, Shakespeare, Mencken, Jefferson, but did not worship them, I feel the same way towards him as he did towards these great man, Im influenced also by Hunter Thompson, Scott F. Fitzgerald, Jack Kerouac, Im intellectually shallower than my idols, thats why they are my idols, if I could hold a candle to them there would be no reason for me to admire them.
I like the melody. Although I do not agree with the lyrics, everyone has and is entitled to an opinion. I for one rest easy knowing who my maker is. As i stand in judgement I do wish mercy for everyone-and thank goodness that is not my job. I'm a broken down beat up stomped on individual- I look forward to my day of final rest.
Alma Birket your not a broken down beat up individual. Only a made-up deity would have you think other wise. Live your life now, you only have one. Love and you will get love in return from other humans, not from a psychopath in the sky.
Kyle I thank you for you comments and respect your belief. I have had a chronic painful disease, lost my 2 kids to a psycopathetic human entities, and now I lay here. Where is the cure for a broken spirit, for a broken will to live...no pills. no alcohol , no words (except your kind words) ...and a stranger like kyle cared enuf to try and give compassion. My mother was shot at age 32, and I was 5, I witnessed this and saw her body dump into our bathtub to bleed to death. I truly have NO ONE. But some how I keep on. Wow Alma, I could not imagine the pain that you have gone through. That is very sad and I feel for you. Just know the whole world is not like this. If there is any advice I could give you, it would be find a passion. Through these means you could find other like minded people. From this you can find someone to love, and someone who will love you back. There is still hope in life for you!!!

@semprefolle89 it is way too specific to not be about Hitch. He calls him a Horseman (his nickname was one of the 'Four Horseman') Hitch's fav drink is Scotch Whiskey, and unlike other athiests who said that God may be fake, but if he were real it would be good, Hitch was the first to call God an evil tyrant
