Thanks a lot of this video. Just a couple of tips for others trying to follow it to swap out their key covers: - make sure the rubber button cover gets removed along with the plastic piece below it. I initially removed the rubber button cover only and there was a little plastic piece that stayed behind which covered the chip inside the key and had some holes in it (where the buttons go through to make contact with the chip and perform their corresponding job). I had a heck of a time trying to re-assemble the key before I noticed in the video that the plastic piece in the middle was also removed. I took some photos of that center piece with the intention of adding it in the comment but I'm not sure I can unfortunately. You will know what I'm talking about if you run into this issue. - for me it was easier to put the center cover on first and then clip in the side covers. I first put the side covers on and it was hard to squeeze the center piece between the sides (probably due to slight tolerance in the manufacturing making the plastic pieces too tight of a fit, but its better than loose fit).
You can do the entire process without removing the screw, the top button cover or emergency key. You can literally just take your fingernail and separate the sides from the main body. Then click you new piece in. The instructions are usually in the photos on the Amazon fob you purchase.
I was able to pop off the sides and you don’t need to take off the philips screw and key ring and don’t need to take off the chrome part too? The sides just pop off with a small flat head...
Rob quick question. bought the full shell. Have a sealed unit. I cut it out and removed the PBC and transferred to the new shell. After the assembly, remote lock and unlock works fine only to find out when i put it in the ignition, it doesnt turn on. seems like immobilizer isnt working. second oem key still works fine. what can it be? this remote doesnt have transponder pill to remove..? can it be a programming immobilizer?
I have a 2023. The top chrome part didn't come off for me. Seems they glue down the front portion now? Almost broke it trying to get it off. So just replaced the side blades and left the chrome in place.
so the cover for my buttons for the a 2017 718...is rubber and I cannot get it to go back in.....now I have a rubber band until I can get it to the dealership......
Hi, im looking for the same kit as the other kits i found on Amazon and Ebay doesnt include the chrome part... i checked the link you added, 1st they dont have the lava orange 2nd they dont ship to DubaI, is there any other alternate...?
I mean, you spring for a masterpiece of German engineering and you get a cover set from wuhan? Please tell me they at least paint matched guards red or an OEM paint code. But not bad for $8-9.😂
Usually the aftermarket pieces don't match an OEM color, maybe except solid black. 😅 I have a PTS 991 and gave my OEM covers to a car painter to paint it dark olive green. Paid 40 Euros for 4(!) pieces. OEM is much more expensive and PTS isn't available.

This was a great video. No fluff, no droning on and on. It was what tutorial videos should be.
Thank you! You've got better things to do than listen to me ramble on about nothing important
Thanks. It was easy to follow your instructions😊
How all instruction videos should look....superbly clear.

Thank you. Best $10 I ever spent on car parts haha! You don't need to remove the screw and key ring holder

Really helpful thanks for that tip I was pulling my hair out 😂
Thanks a lot, we had the exactly same issue and this fixed it for us.
Took me hours to figure out the rubber part and plastic piece underneath it, thanks a lot!
You’re such a life saver. I spent an hour trying to shove the rubber piece back in. Horrible experience

Anyone tried to adapt a 997.1 key fob into the newer keys?
Very helpful since the cover does not come with instructions. Thanks
You're welcome!
Will this work for a 2022 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS, or is it only for the Macon?
If your fob is this shape, it will work.
Hey will the new cover interfere with inserting the key in the ignition…in other words will the car start with the new plastic?
The new plastic will not impede you starting the car.
👍
Glad it helped
Interesting. I ordered a replacement shell from Suncoast Porsche and I did not get a chrome piece. I don’t know if that’s normal included.
The old piece can be reused. I got this replacement shell off eBay
@@KeyFobRob Oh, I know. I replaced the sides without even taking the metal part off. But it's interesting.
Nice. The ebay link is dead tho
Updated! Thanks for the heads up - ebay.us/hTuhsp

8/9 dollars? I paid 118 euros on the official Porsche website 😡
18€ on Amazon!
Porsche OEM is way better than the aftermarket items. Yes, expensive, but colors are OEM and they fit perfectly to the key. Aftermarket is crap.
