Agility shortcuts are one of the coolest benefits of any skill in the game. So I tested every single one of them to find out if they are actually shortcuts, or if Jagex has been lying to us this whole time.

Agility was released in 2002 in RuneScape, and with it came Agility shortcuts. To our young minds, shortcuts were really the only reason we would ever train agility. So why, then, did Jagex decide that all shortcuts in the game (for the most part) would be so bad?
In this video I give my opinion and play 0 Old School RuneScape so you better watch it and like it or else. There's also no shot anyone reads this so I'm just gonna say something ridiculous like "oops i pooped in your pants".
Old School Runescape is a game that was not meant to be played the way you are watching above
Thanks to Wonder for sponsoring this video! Remember to go to
the kalphite queen shortcut requirements are actually egregious
Was interested in the topic, don’t respect an ai sponsor.
i’d much rather take a raid shadow legends ad over an AI “art” one
I feel like an overlooked aspect of shortcuts is saving run energy, considering stamina pots weren’t in game when most of these shortcuts were added I’d assume you’d save more ticks by using the shortcut and having your run last longer
Good video, but I'm disappointed by the sponsor. Those kind of AI generators are not only built on theft, but are ruining human creativity.
Is that you J1mmy?
Each time I tried a good looking agility shortcut for the first time, my initial reaction when clicking them was "I cant wait to be told I can't use this one due to diaries!" and I was very often not proven wrong.
There is literally nothing worse than grinding for a really good shortcut only to be met with the “this shortcut requires X diary” message right after you try to use it. It’s like being kicked in the balls twice.
If the Catherby Grapple shortcut went both ways it would be useful.
Decided to look up the agility highscores. Apparently 49,908 people have levelled agility to 99, and 3 people are exactly 1 xp away
To be fair, it’d be weird from a worldbuilding standpoint if there
"No one crafts cosmic runes this way anymore"
You know the cool thing about that KQ lair shortcut requiring the elite diary? The fact that the tatty KQ head drop guaranteed on 256 kc is only a relatively recent change. I had to do 949 KQ kills in order to get a KQ head to finish the elite diary on my main. I've always been under the impression that the shortcut should have been an unlock from the hard diary not elite. The palace window shortcut should also be lowered to a medium diary reward.
This is the reason why I think they could always improve existing skills instead of adding newer ones.
My other grief with agility is that I believe EVERY shortcut should give you some exp, even if it's a small amount. Agility is one of the two skill that has such a disconnect between "training" and "using". The other is prayer which has the ability to "passively" train because most things drop bones/ashes. However with agility the instances where you use it (out in the world in shortcuts or area unlocks) is completely separate from when you train it.
The blue dragon shortcut is probably the first shortcut to mind when thinking of iconic shortcuts, the facts that you mentioned about it taunting you from the moment you go in to the dungeon, it really does encourages you to train agility
the brimhaven stones is a shortcut, the other way is cut vines, up stairs, run past fire giants, run past demons, down stairs

I've always hated having to grind agility for good cerb trips, but its such a good useful shortcut that its always worth having. those 3 in tav dungeon are just great and scaled so perfectly
