I was issued an 06 Auto when I got to my first duty station back in '05. Carried that knife religiously for almost 11 years until it was stolen out of my truck this past year... Had a lot of memories with that knife and it saw a lot of travels in the military. One of the best knives I've ever owned, PERIOD! Thanks Gerber for producing the best for the best!
The 06 is iconic and perfectly designed. The governor of Colorado just signed a bill to allow automatic knives for EDC. I'm loving the 06 as that knife for me.
As a former knife salesman I always enjoyed when Gerber reps came to do product demonstrations and teach us about gerber knives it really shows commitment to the community and that they are always striving to improve and hear customer feedback regardless of its good or bad keep up the good work!
I'm a retired First Responder from a small town Fire Dept. I carried the 06 auto because of the bang for the buck, I loved how you could beat the knife and at the end of the day if you remembered, I could clean up , sharpen the blade. The auto button never failed to open the blade when I needed to cut the seat belt in an auto accident. Those 06 knives were the go to knives on some of the LE's also in the City.
Many thanks to Gerber. The 06 Auto is an amazing EDC. Although a bit more heft than other knives, I think it's about the most utilitarian piece to any military soldier. I used Gerber during my time in the Marines and they never failed me.
I never realized how big of a brand Gerber was, and that they were a supplier to the armed forces. I've been looking to get my first auto, and now I'm going to go look in to Gerber's line...thanks BHQ, great video.
All of the Gerbers I own have served me well. One of my favorites to carry is the Applegate Folder. I love that they based an every-day-carry folder on a combat, fixed blade design. Very cool.
I sure do like that 06 Auto knife . I carried a Gerber during most of my 23 years in the army. I retired in 84 , so I'm an old vet, and I still carry one . I sure would like to own and rely on this knife
I really appreciate Gerber and Blade HQ's dedication to Military Personal and the LE community. This knife looks like a reasonable price utility knife, to use on duty and as an EDC knife.
Love the Gerber 06, A buddy loved mine so much I gave it to him going over to Iraq, Haven't replaced it yet but One day It will find a way back into my pocket
During my time in the USAF, I searched high and low for a blade that I could carry every day in my fatigues that could stand up to the demands i would put on it during training or potential future deployments. The Gerber 06 was the knife that answered. While it isnt the most precise instrument, it is a TANK and i have used it multiple times as a hatchet, a machete, and as a pry bar. An amazing example of overbuilding and properly designing a quality product.
First and only time I have seen one of these was when I was about to deploy in 2019. I was a newer PL and I asked my platoon sergeant what kind of knife I should get for the deployment. He pulled one of these out of his pocket and said he was issued this before his first deployment in 2006. He said they don’t issue them anymore but he would never carry anything else. That thing was worn to bare metal but the action was still butter smooth. It impressed me how much that war hero cherished that knife, and does to this day. I ended up buying a Matt Would Go 245 and strapping it to my IBA. I still think about his 06 Auto, might pick one up soon.
My dad carried a Gerber and I have carried many varied Gerber's over many years. I have never damaged one but have lost a few. Thanks for being a dependable friend both at work and play!!!!!!!! Would love to have a automatic Gerber to add to my EDC collection.
Carried a Gerber Alliance for years. It spends most of its time in the 'retired EDC' drawer nowadays, but the action and spring still work perfectly. Gerber automatics rock.
Shelve the chinese stuff, go all US production and double down on QC and you'll be kings again. The goodwill, good people and designs are there already.
I love my Gerber 06 Auto, carry it everyday! One of my favorite knives i've purchased through Blade HQ. Being an Oregonian, I'm also proud to support a local company.
My first *real* EDC knife (SAKs and multi-tools don't count) was a Gerber AR 3.0 purchased around 2002. Despite being a budget knife, it proved to be a true value and provided many years of great service before it was lost to theft. I purchased another without hesitation the next day and carried it for several more years. I have since expanded my collection of EDC blades including selections from Kershaw / ZT, Benchmade, Spyderco, and Microtech (all thanks to Blade HQ actually). However, you never forget your first. Thanks Blade HQ for a great video showcasing a great American company and for the opportunity to add another fine knife to the collection. Thank you to all who continue to serve at home and abroad.

I have carried a Gerber EZ Out for the last 20 yrs or so as my EDC. I work in construction & they have ALWAYS served me well. Holds an edge, easy to sharpen. Given many away to my friends & family.Everybody Happy! Broke the tip off one, my bad, but filed it into a tanto blade & it kept on going untill I lost it. Bought 3 more to replace it. Still have 2, gave one to my best friend. He loves it. I have ALWAYS been happy with my Gerber purchases. Hope you will be too.

I don't want Gerber just to talk the talk about American made qualities, I want them to prove it to Americans. I have seen Buck Knives resurrect their quality and return to American production. I've had mine for what feels like forever. It's been through 3 sandboxes, and a bunch of other deployments. I still haven't cleaned the sand out of the bolt holes. i don't get that "crap, where's my rifle!" Feeling anymore, now it's my knife, tap the pocket to make sure it's still there.
This knife looks great. I carry a knife when I'm on my motorcycle. 1st time I carried one, it was used later that day. Never leave home without one & I would like this one.
My wife likes and carries auto or semi-auto Knives, being the military carries this this would be a bonus to her, as we are both very pro military. I have had good luck and service from the Gerber products, my older one hand opening multi-tool has been with me on every excursion, from camping to trips on the Harley and everything in between. Good job Gerber!
I sure as hell would never go to war without a full tang knife made of high quality steel. But a backup knife or all around carry? sure why not, looks like an awesome expensive box cutter lol. These are just gadgets. nobody needs an auto knife.
First off, thank you for this great opportunity to get a knife as legendary as the Gerber 06. I have the tanto serrated version now and absolutely love carrying this knife and to say I am the envy of our shop every time I pull it and deploy the blade. Secondly, I am raising a five year old that follows me everywhere and lives a good knife as well. I of course do not let him carry but all the time I hear "dad can we go look at your knives" I tell him all the time that they will someday be his and I can tell even though he is 5, he appreciates it. This is one that I would love to pass down to him and someday share this story on how he perhaps acquired it. Thanks again for this great opportunity.
I had one when i was deployed to iraq and afghanistan. Best use was for opening MREs then anything else. Whack something hard with it and it comes part and dirt and grime gets in and does not open up as smooth. I stuck with my Ka Bar bayonet, tried and true, thats a knife that has earned the name the marines best friend next to his rifle. Even with gloves the damn thing slips because the grip is so smooth. If you went for this rather then your bayonet your Drill Instructor would probably hunt you down and smack you back to boot camp.
The first knife I ever got was a Gerber Paraframe 1 in half serrated and camo. I was a Bear Scout in 3rd grade. Here I am 9 years later and Eagle Scout and I still carry that knife. Yes I have many other knifes which have much better steels and ergonomics and fancy opening methods, but it's the Gerber that started it all and stuck with me. It's the knife I learned to wittle with, cut rope, hike with, and pretty much do everything out doors with. I would say that if it wasn't for Gerber I wouldn't be a knife lover or collector. Thanks Gerber!!!
Gerber makes the best fixed blade production knives. I still have the one my father carried during World War II and through the Occupation when he was in the US Army. But now I am anxious to see what Gerber has brought to its automatic knife line. I have several Kershaw automatics of different dimensions and styles, but the quality seems to be slipping lately and some have been outright atrocious for a Made In USA product. Should I be fortunate to win the Gerber 06 Automatic Knife, I will do a review of it and post it on my UA-cam channel. As our Commander-In-Chief has said, "Make America great again." Gerber, however, has been great since its founding in 1939.
I've owned quite a few Gerber's; but surprisingly never one of they're autos... someday. Nice Video Blade HQ - your commitment to the industry is very appreciated.
Got issued one of these guys on my first deployment and I loved it. Some customs guy decided he wanted it more than me when we flew home. Still miss it.
I'd love an 06 Auto or Propel, for that matter. My first "serious" pocketknife was one of the old full-size Applegate-Fairbairn folders. That thing was a tank. A little big for EDC, but clearly built for the job. After that I got an EZ-Out. I've been through any number of other brands over many years, including some other large names in Portland we need not mention (since I live here in PDX, I like to support local business), but you know what still gets used? Gerber EZ-out. Every. Damn. Day. Despite my best efforts, I can't destroy the thing. And I love you guys for that. Keep up the great work, and thanks for not only building it in the USA, but keeping the price point reasonable!
I was issued two i bought a third. I carried the gerber lmf2 and the 06 auto both took incredible amounts of abuse and torture and still work perfectly. They will be something i pass on to my kids when and if they serve
Gerber stands behind their stuff! Love my multi-tool, broke it, replaced, no questions asked. Auto knives rock! Love my Boker. The 06 is a bit out of my price range, what a blessing it would be to win one!!! Have a knife day!!!!
I would love to have a gerber 06 auto!! I have been buying knives from blade HQ for several years now. I have purchased a few gerber products and also kershaw knives and I have many of them. I usually buy the gerber and kershaw knifes for gifts because I am confident that the recipient of the gifts will use and enjoy the products for a very long time. I buy the microtech, protech, quartermaster and bench made for myself. I am very happy with blade HQ. would not do business anywhere else. AUTOMATICS ROCK!
I had no idea that Gerber Supplies our Armed Forces. Thank you Gerber for given our troops the tools they need to be an effective fighting force. Would like to have a Gerber Knife, being new to the knife world these are the videos I like to see. Instructive and Inspiring. Thanks Blade HQ.
just watched the video on the 06 auto knife and I'm proud that the men and women who serve my country are using this knife and I'd love to win one because they look great to. A physical disability has made it impossible to work anymore and money is to tight to afford one but with 3 years sober I'm working on changing my life and maybe soon I can afford one to hand down to my son. Thank you for supporting our troops
Cool video and thank all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines for their service. I carry an auto because of injuries to my thumb and forefinger. Cannot open a knife without an auto opener. Thanks for posting this film.
My brother gave me his 06 auto. He went from fort Bragg to Frankfurt Germany to 3 deployments to Afghanistan an Iraq in his 13yrs with the military. I love that gerber 06 auto. I wanna get it fixed the spring broke a couple years ago. Awesome knife!
Gerber was my first serious knife. It was given to me by a friend. That was 20 years ago he has passed away but I still have that knife. It's in my gun safe now every time I open it I think of him. I have bought several Gerber Knifes sense then and have always got a quality product. I believe Gerber is in the top 5 Knives made in the USA and I would not buy a knife made any where else. A great American made product!
I am a senior fellow, having had several Gerber knives (and still do), I have never had one fail me. The 06 auto intrigues me as I've never owned a Gerber auto and with Gerber quality it has to be a genuine winner.
Wow, that's all I can say. The 06 looks as it's the go to knife of not only the army, but should be of every TOM, Dick and Harry...and Bob and Gary, and Trey, I think you get the idea of what I'm trying to say. I can think of numerous times that a knife I mean the 06 would have been the perfect solution for my need at the time.I like the fact that is Over-Engineered! That's what seperates the show boats from the work horses, and a work horse it is, well along with a show boat. This one wins in both catagories! This is really only one of the knives you really need. I wish I had an 06, but the economy, lack of funds and being Disabled keeps me from getting one. Anyhow, keep up the good work! If our troops can appreciate, so can I!
I retired back in 2012 from the military but I had one of these high speed -low drag GERBER auto knives since my first deployment to Iraq . Still carry it with me today. I worked as an automotive and equipment mechanic and put this knife through hell and some. Built tough/great quality material. Never let me down. One of the best investments I've ever made next to my firearms of course. ;) Hey! You don't bring a knife to a gunfight right? So the saying goes. Unless it's a backup should all else fail. lol! Thank you all for what you do for the military My best wishes for your continued success!
The Gerber is a good American product. I have used the various multi-tools, at home and overseas, for years and they have replaced them without question the few times I wore them out or broke them. Even on tools that I had for twenty years. Bravo Zulu!
i like Gerber over all, ive had some bad experiences with owning them but recently it seems they have regained their initial quality and ive been very pleased to handle the new products
Didn't have an auto, but I carried a Gerber Gatorback and several Gerber multitools in Iraq. Still have the Gatorback. This would be pretty sweet to win! Love the stories I can certainly relate. Thanks Blade HQ for sharing.
Really nice looking knife. Would love to own one myself. Started collecting knives couple years back but have always just loved knives period. Gerber has been there there whole time and have had several different ones over the last few decades. Keep up the good work and supporting our troops.
I have my fathers Gerber fixed blade hunting knife that he bought over fifty years ago. I sometimes carry it just for the memories knowing that my dad loved this knife and never left for the woods without it strapped to his hip. If I remember correctly he bought this knife when I was about 9 or 10 years old while living in Twin Bridges Montana.
I've had this knife for two years and use it every day. I'm a line medic and I've started to put more and more use on this knife and it has yet to fail me. Full of sand? Still flys open and for me the the automatic function is a must and it's just way too convenient. 100% recommend this knife.
Left my old 06 while cutting away netting that my fin had been entangled in on a drift dive in North Palm Beach, Florida. Just happened to have it in my board shorts that day and it saved my ass. Unfortunately, left it behind in the high pressure situation so I could raise a marker, call the boat over, and get to safety. Would love a replacement! Yes, I know there are knives better fit for diving; the best tool is the one you have on your person.
This is a seriously impressive knife. Gerber is know for delivering high quality at a good value. This automatic is one you would want in a SHF situation.
WoW I like this knife, been collecting folding knives for years, mostly European in origin. This is one Brand I've somehow missed. Gerber always does a great job making quality products for the right price. I'll be looking to add one soon. It's never too late. Tess
My crown popped off a few months ago. The idea of having to deal with that in the middle of the desert with just superglue and and a O6 makes me happy I was able to just call my dentist.
AWESOME video. I hope every one of those military personnel received a free Gerber for their support and dedication to Gerber and for serving our county. Great job
As a Viet Nam War Veteran, I think is it absolutely incredible that this company is making a knife that helps our military, if not actually save their life. Keep up the great work. If I do not win one I will definitely buy one.
I have several Gerber folders and assorted multi-tools and axes. Great value tools for rugged use - hunting, camping, garage tasks and anything else you can throw at them. Enjoyed the video/history lesson on the the iconic 06!
I Remember using one of these, glad to see such a neat video on it! Thanks Gerber for making something so tried and true. Great work! Glad also to see a plain edge. Wish I had one back then, I'm definitely gonna pick one up now
thank you to the U.S service men and women and their families. Gerber has had some challenges along the way but I honestly think they have overcome them. I had Gerber paraframe 2 that was tough as nails never had a problem with that knife and would hesitate to get another. I since have given it to a friend who didn't have an edc pocket knife and its still going strong. Thanks Gerber and Blade HQ Pacific Northwest represent.

I really enjoy seeing the stories from the soldiers and how much they appreciate Gerber's craftsmanship.

All around great knife....or dentistry tool haha. Definitely need to add this to my collection. #MadeInAmerica
My first comment ever. Created a channel just for this. Thanks for keeping American quality alive!
Well just for that you win a Shard! Get in touch with marketing(a)bladehq.com and we will hook you up.
Gerber 06 automatic knife looks to be just what the doctor has ordered to help keep you safe and out of trouble. Everyone needs one of these.
Gerber u let me down on 4 different knives
You've never used a mora or a fallkniven have you?
I've owned quite a few Gerber's; but surprisingly never one of they're autos... someday. Nice Video Blade HQ - your commitment to the industry is very appreciated.
Love my Gerbers; all 29 of them... would definitely like to make an 06 #30.
Emmitt Youngblood you would regret it have two of em LOVE EM I never leave home without one
Got issued one of these guys on my first deployment and I loved it. Some customs guy decided he wanted it more than me when we flew home. Still miss it.
What a joke. As a company no one abuses "made in usa" better than Gerber.
Depends some stuff is made in Oregon and other is Chinese
Which models marked “made in USA” are, in fact, not made in the USA?
I’d like to avoid those.
I've owned Gerber knives for 40 years. The 06 would be a great usable addition to my collection. Very nice knife.
-Trust your life to a Gerber knife- no thanks
Carried a Gerber knife for 2 tours in Afghanistan. Quality product that got they job done everyday! Affordable and Dependable!
Awesome to see a company that supports our troops! Keep up the good work Gerber, and Blade HQ too!
Good and bad memories serving overseas. Carried a gerber in combat and still have it.
I was issued two i bought a third. I carried the gerber lmf2 and the 06 auto both took incredible amounts of abuse and torture and still work perfectly. They will be something i pass on to my kids when and if they serve
The 06 auto is a beast of a knife and one I don't hesitate to beat on. It never fails and comes back for more. I'd love to add another.
Awesome, guys! I grew up with Gerber knives. Thanks for the opportunity!
I just picked up an 06 with the serrated tanto, because it's mainly what those at my unit carry, and I'm already super happy with it
Gerber was my first serious knife.
Owned a number of Gerber knives over the years. Always served me well. Looks like I should add an 06 to the collection.
I'm a Gerber believer... have several from full hip/thigh rigs to concealable folder and several in between. LOVE to have this one for sure!
I've gained a whole new level of respect for Gerber and their stuff
Hands down was one of my favorite knives ive owned. Carried it everywhere and was the easiest to open with gloved hands.
Jonathan Lunn you win a Shard! Get in touch with marketing(a)bladehq.com with your name and address and we will hook you up!
Well done Blade HQ. And well done Gerber. Much respect for your tools and the military/police service men and women they've helped.
06 auto tanto. Best knife I've ever owned. Fires hard every time. Stays sharp as a razor.
Thank you Blade HQ for showcasing what Gerber provides for our military. That is one beautiful military-grade knife!
WoW I like this knife, been collecting folding knives for years, mostly European in origin. This is one Brand I've somehow missed. Gerber always does a great job making quality products for the right price. I'll be looking to add one soon. It's never too late. Tess
I have never been upset with a Gerber product. They do great knives and tools at a great price.
My crown popped off a few months ago. The idea of having to deal with that in the middle of the desert with just superglue and and a O6 makes me happy I was able to just call my dentist.
A big thanks to all those that served our country and to Gerber for giving them a good piece of gear they could rely on. Good video BladeHQ.
Gerber, one of the most classic knife brands around. They sure make some great blades, especially for military personal. Awesome video!
