At the time of this comment, the official Hell Let Loose UA-cam channel has removed the trailer, yet you can still see it in its entirety on the PC Gamer channel. Link in the description. Yikes.
You must get a kick out of bashing game developers... have you ever touched a line of code in your life? If you have, maybe you'd have some human decency for someone's mistake. Toxic community is the reason games fail.. by all means add to it if that's your desire.
@@miguelalcorta3558 The actual developers of the game aren't the problem, it's the people in the upper echelons of authority who OK'd this garbage is what has people fuming.
@@kennethbowers2897 True, very true. But a trailer should be the last thing that makes a game good.. the game is great and I could care less about a trailer. Hell, the best movies I've ever seen in my life weren't because the trailer was good...
History is just repeating itself. Great games get bought by big publishers, dev team gets replaced, game and entire franchise gets destroyed. Seen it happen too many times... so sad but unfortunately that's how this world works. These big publishers don't care about the game, they only care about making more money more quickly.
This just seems like team17 was overconfident and then showed a complete lack of competence, because I had been thinking about buying HLL but now I definitely won't when team17 have fucked it up this bad. Surely I aint the only one? They must be losing money from this
The game plays fine and for 2023, if you don't like, don't play it. If you are gonna bash it, by all means take your toxic community badge and wear it on your sleeve..
I swear to god, it's almost like the second a game dev studio gets the slightest amount of profit, they ruin their own game like they're speed running bankruptcy
a company's goal is to make profit. They did that, they were very successful. I get it, you look at it from a player's pov, but that's not how you're supposed to look at companies to see their pov. If you had pulled this off and were able to sell the company for 47 million GBP, you'd do so too.
@@TheBanjoShowOfficial That makes no sense. T17 cant just barge in and buy a company, someone first needs to willing to sell it and that someone is the owners of the Black Matter company.
@@whatever7338 They didn't sell the company, they sold them the IP (the game). They did this after they'd finished development on it and gotten it to full release. You can shit on them if you want, but I don't blame them. They finished the game, it was successful and they accomplished what they set out to build. With the "heavy lifting" done in terms of work on the game, they believed Team 17 could handle updates and content releases going forward giving them the ability to move their focus to the other projects they have in development.
i am absolutely furious with T17 for taking a game that I love and making it WORSE with each progressive update. it's infuriating and unless they completely redeem themselves, i will never buy anything associated with them ever again.
It's just so typical for the gaming industry nowadays. Investor's are buying great products, and then they're trying to make it more accessible while ruining it in the progress. They're not in the game because they love it. They see these products just as an opportunity to make money. They know that every arcade shooter needs a fast-paced mode, sliding mechanics, and unreal sprinting speeds. But what they don't get is that WWII games make shitty arcade shooters. They will milk the cow as long they can, and the game will land on the garbage pay to win pile. It's just sad as f.
As they push the game towards a more arcade / action focus, less players are helping with the behind the scenes stuff like building nodes, garrisons, or just running supply trucks. If those things are necessary to make the round fun, or at least put the team in a position to win, but I'm the only one doing it more and more, why am I still playing? I'll see everyone over in Squad.
As a hell let loose player who just picked up squad on sale after the free weekend last week, i am very happy with the timing of squad hahaha especially with the devs coming out and talking about overhauling infantry combat to keep it true to their vision. Real stark contrast here.
Squad is another shitstorm. Game worked perfectly for a while and stopped working after an update about 6 months + ago. Unreal engine error crash at startup seem to be unsolvable by the support team. I have reinstalled and uninstalled the game 3 times, updated all drivers, cleaned installed gpu drivers, opened a portal into another dimension and nothing seems to resolve the issue. Don't even get me started on the support, a snail will revolve the earth 10 times while crawling on salt before support responds, and guess what, all they do is apologize. I finally gave-up last night and uninstalled it for good.
Post Scriptum died to bugs, and HLL is heading down the same path. The parallels are crazy, right down to the original developers leaving the project, and the secondary team completely failing to manage it.
The last update they did was so buggy they broke all French maps, yes all of them, only community patch fixes it, and made 75mm Shermans randomly invisible
@@SpaceRanger187 that's really dramatic to say. Every game has a life cycle. League of Legends was all people would talk about 10 years ago. Now it's Roblox or something. But this game was kneecapped from the start. Anyone who doesn't play this game in high graphics detail at high res gets to see how janky and cut and pasted so many game mechanics are. I refunded this game while Post Scriptum was still alive. I have about 400 hours in HLL and would still recommend d the game for $20. But they are adding factions before adding basic things like realistic sounds and ballistics. Seriously this games ballistics are horrendous. After a set point, the game code just applies a damage debuff instead of dynamically calculating it based on... a ray. Just like BSG got caught up adding to the feel of the game. I'm sure Tarkov feels great to play when youre with a bunch of people who are not using cheats or cheese strats. The game grew since 2016. If you want a truly disappointing developer: Wargaming Studios. $80 for a single ship, people have spent thousands of dollars collecting on a game where their purchases get devalued by powercreep. BSG charges you one time. I bought EoD in like 2017 or 2018 and played til 2021. The best game on the market right now for milsim light is Squad. This is an arcade fps that tries so hard to be brutal and realistic but it ends up just being janky. The recon arty duels are a minigame. Having your main menu key be a primary function . Redeploy should be used by every player almost every match in HLL but they don't tell you. And they make the interface non-interactable for 20 seconds. Your truck going 2kph touches its canvas siding to someone? They drop like it's a 10kV transformer arcing right to the heart. Hammers are like the human appendix. No real purpose other than some classes can left click on an unbuilt structure. In reality no one really plays HLL like the devs want because it isnt fun building nodes on sector lines or playing 4 corners with garrison placement. In 2016 post scriptum was figuring out why certain maps are bad. If HLL can figure out how to make a map that isn't designed like it's 2003, we can have nice things. The graphics is just surface level and it is what fooled so many people into thinking HLL was more than it is. Imo appreciate it and know they'll either fix it or a better game will be launched. This is a huge market to try to capture. Sad that they added so many great things but never polished a single one of them fully. The issues that made me refund this game in less than 2 hours was a time when I was fed up with the Post Scriptum community being left to the most intense players. Not fun. A game like Steel Division 2 finds ways to make the complexity fun and interesting for Rts without the fuss. Its graphics are about as good as CoH3 and its a divisional command game. More fun than HLL even if it isn't first person
@@kamilm6616 It could come back but I don't think the game is ready for an influx of players. In 2018 PS had that awesome armor game mode that was amazing. The collision with objects in that game and Squad make me think they need a PS 2.0 . Add map destructability and more assets to the buildings and PS would be king of the market. It's a fantastic game and most of the issues with HLL were things PS went through in playtest weekends. That was like 2017ish? Things like MSPs, huge flat maps. The reason a WWII rifle can't 1 shot at 300m in HLL is simply a function of the game being too easy to be shot at because there is no real terrain cover. It's time to revive Post Scriptum. This time without as many bugs and stutters at the beginning. When they launched the game fully it was arguably a meaningless gesture and price change to PS, but it dramatically changes player expectations of the game. That is what killed post scriptum slowly. It runs great now and they've made huge strides in sectoring the map correctly. I still disagree with the logistics system. They make it easy in Squad. Post Scriptum was just a little bit too early to the market and needed to save their marketing campaign for a time like now. It's tough to run a company that makes and continues to develop a great product. Most of the time they get caught trying to maintain their current operations and staff. Costs are constant but sales can dip. It's a tough industry and I suspect it's the real reason HLL is the way it is.
You may notice that this video has very few comments. This morning I received a copyright claim that was eventually reversed, but unfortunately it looks like all comments were wiped. Sorry for this looking weird. Blame the process I guess but we're back and enjoy the video.
I was deployed for 8 months and missed any big updates from T17, came back and the game feels worse. Just catching back up on all this news. Hope that things turn around this game was a gem that was improving slowly before.
They literally added 2 more features and a new faction/map HOW is it worse. The gaming community is never satisfied yall will bitch moan and cry about everything !! They change it yall cry they go back yall cry im not sure any game community can be satisfied from cod to assassins creed yo total war. Gamers hate change
@@jamesschaller753 game optimization is still piss poor (remember they decided to go out of EA, so no excuses). Brits came out and their weapons are historically inaccurate AF something the previous team took great pride in not messing up. The glitch that prevents you from switching loadouts and only lets you spawn in with the default loadouts for classes is STILL in the game. You have to do a full restart to even get it to stop bugging. The game has declared it isn't in EA though, you need to reality check yourself with the copium you're huffing. Adding content, doesn't mean anything of value if actual issues are not being addressed. Nobody gives a shit about new content when things remain broken. Coming back from an 8-month deployment to still deal with issues from 8-months ago is insane.
What I don't get is that you could write a script, get 10 or 20 of you in a server, turn the HUD off and just run the scenario and get the footage you need... bosh into a video editor, within 12 -18 hours you could easily knock up a perfectly acceptable in-game footage trailer
I pre ordered HLL on the basis I was supporting a tactical WW2 shooter. When I first loaded in to the early access weekends it was a magical experience. People were advancing behind tanks using them as cover, and the overall community feel was amazing. The biggest difference between now and then is communication - no one talks any more in game, and I believe this is because the players that are now being attracted are those after an arcade experience, whilst those who are interested in a tactical shooter have been driven away. I know for me I've moved to Squad.
I joked with some buddies that the Squad Devs must have performed a dark ritual to suck up any and all care and love for a product from the HLL devs, given how close the Infantry overhaul announcement and this trailer being shown was lol
@@marcusmuller4723 I recently reinstalled both, and planned to play some HLL first, but then that trailer dropped and I had a "Do I really wanna?" moment lol
I love that Squad specifically mentioned they are reducing run speed in that update as well, right after HLL increased it. Obvious where these two games are going.
@@alkarinv1192 Because one of the games has good map design. Black Coast is a great example of a new Squad map. It is so far beyond anything in HLL in terms of how well thought out the building and cover placement is. Terrain. Even the worst Squad map is better than the best HLL map from a "how advanced and polished is this game's design vision?" HLL should reduce the black screen timer or make people able to mark things. Flares in a WW2 game have look-down radar and IFF . If a commander can do that why can't a squad mate mark a tank. The SL just ferries around a watch and builds spawn points. It isn't like being a squad SL. Increasing the run speed in HLL will just make the maps feel smaller but cover points and garrison placement will never change. They need a redesign of core game mechanics. And why is the MG34 so bad? In real life I can tell you firsthand it has a very accurate ranging trigger group. It can fire single shots. Many weapons in HLL have ironsights. Why can't we adjust for elevation or "zero" our sights? Because the ballistics are completely unrealistic and so is the distance scaling. Play Post Scriptum and look at those maps. The buildings don't have tablecloths but you can actually do CQC that isn't just the same thing every time every map every point. It's a great fun game but it's impossible to take seriously. As soon as the player learns the mechanics it becomes a very repetitive "guys, can just respawn to get more ammo." Maybe a node should just be an AoE ammo crate from Squad and the commander's resources don't have to be built on sector gridlines. Vehicles are lava to friendlies if speed !=0 . The animation is just a t-pose. More of an up arrow pose but it's dumb lol. Why is that not fixed? 30 seconds into a match SETUP someone can touch a moving truck and start the game with a black screen and then it punishes the driver for usually no reason. The game in its June 2023 state is not worth full price but probably will be soon. Just honestly, there isnt a competitor. As soon as that happens there will be a lot of people echoing all these criticisms. The game is so simple when you boil it down yet the devs want players to go through all this hassle because it's the experience. If this game didn't have levels, unlocks, a cool stats page and whatnot, it would have less than half its average player count. Just guessing but I think that's what pulls people back. They want to get level 100 or 200 or 500 or whatever arbitrary number next to their name. If we truly are just faceless soldiers in a battle, it just feels tacked on. I'm rambling but you see my point. To your point, Squad all the way. Since 2016 and I've watched them fix and add content consistently. They realized it was getting a little too lax on the ticket 🎟 side. Fewer people are talking as its mostly the older players who want to talk on these games. It's nice because I gamed as a kid and wanted to play the same games as adults. They're usually smart and good at following directions, but in Squad I think you have a different game entirely because of the tickets. So people are used to just giving up as soon as they're downed, letting a 10 ticket APC get slapped by infantry AT. That's a Squad wipe right there even if it's empty. So reducing movement speed will get people playing the maps more like a salient. Which is exactly what Hll tried and failed to do. The whole Frontline system of HLL doesn't work in practice.
War thunder devs also released a road map of changed and a plan to make the game less frustrating today. I guess He'll Let loose is taking this L full steam ahead.
as somebody who owns neither a Hll not a Squad server, I just want to express my gratitude to you and the other countless server providers to the other 99.99% of the players
even worse when you realize squads dev team just did a complete 180 with their infantry combat overhaul updates. goes to show that dev teams have the ability to realize when they are moving away from the goals of a project and can do something about it but then we have T17 not doing anything.
Coming here from actually playing the ICO on Squad, that shit is absolute fire and reminds me of the OG Project Reality that I played when it was a Battlefield 2 mod, which I assume was OWI's intended design for the game, but they messed up along the way, and finally realized this.
It's actually really sad, cause HLL had the most amazing maps and best firefights I've ever experienced in a FPS game. First game of the British expansion, was letdown to day the least, audio on guns was poor and I didn't feel the weight of my weapon like other factions give.
HLL has the worst maps and fights in gaming. It's basically Call of Duty on a larger scale map. The game has zero team communication and zero Logistical gameplay. There was a better WW2 game, Post Scriptum but the casual playerbase just loves faster respawns and not relying on Medics.
Someone else pointed it out, but it's funny that both Squad and Hell Let Loose are in similar spots. The difference is Squad realizes they messed up the core of what Squad should be and are going back to a more Project Reality style game, while Hell Let Loose is doing... well all of this.
Squad unreal engine error startup crash is going to kill that game. It isn't working for so many players and the support teams aren't helping. It has been over 6 months since it last worked for me. I have un-installed and reinstalled 3 times with no solution. Support responses are usually 3-4 weeks later with no solution other than an apology.
@@chasebeecher5633 I did that multiple times. I un-installed the game completely and reinstalled it 3 times. I verified the files multiple time with every reinstall.
I just feel like we were all excited for Squad, PS and HLL because they were all suppose to be PR with technological advancements. I bought squad during beta 10years ago at $15 before I even had a computer that could run it because of how much I believed I what they were doing. 2 years later I get my gaming PC and it started on the right path then lost its way. I literally just downloaded it again two days ago and it looks completely different. I’m excited to get back to it.
HLL was one of those rare games in the gaming industry that had true passion behind it when Black Matter was developing it. Max and his team did an incredible job on the game and always listened to the community making polls, analizing in game statistics, reading comments on the forums, considering ideas from the community to implement in their game....I still love HLL but i'm skeptical to where this is going. I don't know if Team 17 can manage a game of this caliber by themselves or if they have the right mindset...for now, I guess not
@@csm5040 no it is not being made by an indie studio, bluedrake jsut pushed out a shitty game with mod support expecting the community to actually make the game for him while he profits off donations on the same free game. he didnt even release the game with anti cheat, your lucky if there is 200 people playing it right now, thats because it is shit lol.
@@Kalashboy420 well, its basically free to play Squad :) i tried it, nothing special but not that bad, just another Squad like game but i would go for Squad even tho OHDS is free.
I remember getting into HLL 3 years ago. Everyone was talking on the battlefield. Squads were squads, even if they were made up out of strangers. The game was fun. Teamwork was required - no support meant no garrisons.
I started (unknowingly) around the same time of the first T17 update, the bolt-action bug pissed me off to no end, to the point of me taking a break, despite having fun with the community, you guys are great; but I came back today to a unplayable mess of no working voice chat, unplayable stuttering issues, and poor connectivity. I feel so for the veterans of this game and wish I could have experienced those golden days with ya.
I played HLL all the way through Alpha and quit a year or more before the T17 switch. The trend I noticed was that they were getting more interested in leaving broken and incomplete mechanics as they were and instead decided to focus on adding new shiny toys instead to bring in more sales with each update. Adding a new faction wasn't going to refine the core gameplay loop. Adding a couple new guns that perform the same but a little different to existing factions isn't going to make the gunplay what they originally set out to make in the Kickstarter. It's all just window dressing thrown on a broken base to attract new customers and it doesn't take long to find the rotten foundations the game is built on. That's why nobody stays. All the old hands I played with back in the day are gone. Nobody plays well because nobody stays long enough to learn. The console port was a mistake but not the cause of the game's design issues. If it was the tactical shooter they'd set out to make originally it would not have been practical to port it over at all.
As a old player this is very sad to hear.... at this point ima just make my own game at this point, everything i love is getting destroyed...idk how much more i can take
It is as unfortunate as this game, this rare diamond being destroyed. One of the saddest stories in gaming in recent years. I hope they delete the last two patches and restore it to how it was.
@@Ado555555nah. Id say bf4 is peek bf atm. Still feels and looks kinda modern while not being ruined by the modern stuff such as microtransations, p2w, extreme bugs (yeah i know how the start was). The bf games before bf4 aged quite poorly id say.
I hope this means that Post scriptum will get revived slightly, hopefully some changes to make the respawning and logistics in PS less colluded cause i feel like it still has great potential to become a very good game.
t17 ruined the perfect game we all love and doesn't understand the game they purchased on top of not understanding who is playing the game. They're so out of touch, I wouldn't be surprised if they turn hell let loose into a cod clone. I'd be heartbroken but not surprised
I was Considering Playing HLL for awhile, decided to see what its like for others only to realize the studio that bought it doesn't know how to do anything within a tactical shooter genre, but is flat out killing the very investment they made.
I was happy when I heard they would be adding Poles and Finns and thought I might get the game once that happens if they do it right, I already had some skepticism, but now I know not to have high expectations at all. I wish Post Scriptum still had devs or at least modders making new factions. There was an interesting Greek mod being made that was cancelled after the devs were fired. I hope it can regain the playerbase if people leave HLL and maybe modders or even a new dev team will pick it up again. It does have a much superior gameplay and historical accuracy.
What a reactionary comment. Fans are concerned about the future, because it is still such a good game. There are some changes that are not really liked, but the game is very playable and fun. Not even a stupid game mode or faster running speed will change that.
The 13.5 Update was the update in which Team17 announced they had taken over, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that they started working on the game in at least April of 2022 with just some supervision from Black Matter, this is when we saw the change "blood cloud" introduced that nobody asked-for and when hit detection starting having issues (among other things). I have been playing since the first days of Early Access and I just uninstalled it this week. I was holding out hope for a long time but it's perfectly clear that Team17 has no passion for the game or interest in it other than monetizing it.
yeah its really sad cuz this game is like Red Orchestra x2. The writing is definitely on the wall with this one. Unless they hire Black Matter to keep working on the game this is a sinking ship. Which they wont do. It seems team 17 is trying to squeeze as much money out of it as they can. I bet by this time next year this game has half its player base or worse.
I would buy the uniforms in the store on PlayStation to support the devs because I got this game absolutely free and have 700hrs of enjoyment from it but it’s on a slippery slope now so the best we can all do is NOT spend any money on the game and send the message clearly.
@@semaanar2505 I think their funds ran dry and it probably looked like they had no chance against HLL at the end of last year. Imo post scriptum had better gunplay and maps but it was also more mil-sim than HLL - so player numbers were down as people favor more arcade games usually.
11:35 "the players are fed up" is an understatement I came into this game before these huge amounts of bug updates, kinda stopped playing a bit after the reload bug and haven't touched the game since.... I think I can say I felt offended when you only described the feels as "really fed up" xD
Do the same for Ready or Not. 4 years with a dumb AI, lack of any update for months and a stage 3 community (devs censoring and banning on steam community).
Squad now making its changes back to its roots and emphasizing a more milsim experience may entice more of the Hell let loose community to join from this. I'm sad to see where this game is going, but interested to see what may come of this feedback and if the devs are really in it for the community.
It’s very annoying to me since I’m not a pc player and hell let loose was the only milsim game we have since the chances of people communicating on Insurgency are even lower than HLL
@@supabass4003squad is 100 times easier to get into then Project reality, you’ll be fine jumping right in in fact you may find people aren’t “trying hard enough”
@@supabass4003 I'm in the same position, former (casual) PR player that was put off by the speed and casual-like gunplay in Squad. It seems that the gameplay overhaul (21st of June) will align it to the combat feeling of PR. I think I'm gonna hop over to Squad after the update if that holds true
For anyone who's worked in corporate you can guess what happened and someone had to roll out a trailer with a super short deadline. I don't mind that the trailer is shitty, it's just another tally next to Team17 though that indicates they're probably not up to the task.. which is the terrifying thought.
Well whatever Connor/Bluedrake42/Drakeling Labs has cooking up for Operation Harsh Doorstop (OHD) I sure hope it lasts and provides multiple, solid community-maintained milsim alternatives no matter the time preferred time period.
Black matter had good taste and understood what a WW2 game is supposed to be. It’s easy for larger companies like team 17 to throw money at new game modes. It’s hard for them to hire a team that understands the style and feel the game is supposed to have.
Thank you MoiDawg for making this video, there is so much to be said, and I agree with most that you stated. I’m here to express an opinion, as I haven’t played HLL on PC, I have played on Xbox Series X since Oct 21, 21’ (Day One). I have 131+ days of in game-time, and my rank is 378 (Major General/Two Star). I have had difficulties for about one year now, (server/map lag/etc) increasing with the latest update. With the direction of player speed, and a increasing uneducated HLL player base, ( the I only have 30 mins to play crowd, so let’s just attack only) I have decided to stop playing HLL. Hearing/Seeing the backlash, and subsequent sea change, (future update to be revealed on the 22 Jun 23) I’m cautiously optimistic to the future of HLL? I love HLL as you do and have tried to provide How-To’s on Reddit, but most don’t understand the possibilities as we do to what BlackMatter has provided us? In closing, the reason I stopped playing those other FPS’s, was the mindless nature of them. HLL is as close as I will ever get again to being in the US Army, in uniform with close friends/brothers. Having retired in 12’ I found HLL allows me to plan & execute missions very similar to what I have done in Real-Life. To say that I’m merely disappointed in Team 17, is an understatement! After attempting to notify the DEV’s about problems, that they asked to know/lookout for, I was meet with answers that didn’t make much sense, as if no one knew how to read English? Thank you again MoiDawg!
They’re not. I don’t understand how some people even think that. I assume because of the speed update? The speed update was much needed, and actually way more realistic. The tanks are what isn’t realistic when it comes to speed, they ran like 50 mph. If you were in combat in ww2 you’d run around the speed you run now, than you use too.
@@Vaporisers Yea you don't know what the fuck you are talking about but that's ok because everyone defending the sprint update doesn't know shit. Regardless of your made up numbers and your just so stories about how people ran around in a war that happened 80 years ago the entire game was balanced around that speed. Spawning was balanced around that speed the distances between points, etc. The strategic ebb and flow of the game is suffering. Have you played the new maps? The british get run down so quickly it's not even worth playing. This game is a rusher paradise now. You can't hold perimeters and chokepoints like you could in the past this game is fucked now.
@@Vaporisers Many people (me included) thought the speed increase was nice until you start seeing the problems with the balancing around the speed. The heavy tanks` (Like the 76 Sherman) max speed is around 11 mp/h in game which is reasonable (in real life they could go 29 mp/h so almost 3 times faster than in game) while the average run speed of an infantry soldier in real life is 4 mp/h in full modern gear so lets say even 7-8 mp/h (i can even give you 10 mp/h for the sake of the arguement) with WW2 equipment? so out running a tank while youre crouching is very unrealistic (which is what you can do now with the speed increased) and it completely destroys the balancing between Infantry and Armor (and thats without mentioning the COD like zig zagging that you can do now). And i remind you thats just the HEAVY TANKS, the lighter ones are WAY FASTER, as the should be.
What spooks me the most is how little understanding T17 seems to have about what exactly people love about HLL, and about game design in general. The movement speed update just does not work in a vacuum. A buff to infantry runspeed is a nerf to tanks, nerf to bombing runs (you can now outrun them), a nerf to bolt action rifles and thus an indirect buff to automatic firearms, and it just goes on, a butterfly effect with many different things. Yet T17 didn't address any of those, just pushed up the slider for runspeed, which was absolutely unnecessary, and called it a day.
The running speed needed a little boost as it was too slow to even make it across small gaps in hedges without being killed. These were fit young men who weren't burdened with plate carriers etc that modern soldiers have to carry so why should they move so slow? BUT I do feel that the running speed is too fast now as you can run at about 20mph whilst crouched which is complete nonsense.
@@TheStacato Intermittend bursts of stamina sure. But not COD level endurance. And these men they sent in ww2 are not modern day 24/7 trained grunts. They are drafted men. Just regular people. It would be more realistic to have some of them run faster and some slow as fuck.
to be honest as a die hard Post scriptum fan, i would love to see a revival of the project as it was cut off with so much potential. with a dedicated team i think they could polish and promote it into the spotlight once again.
This is what happens when you hire people based around their immutable qualities instead of their level of skill. Utterly dog shit products are becoming increasingly common in every industry. It's particularly bad in gaming, but it's not exclusive to gaming. Something's gotta give. I've only enjoyed a handful of games over the last 10 years.
Literally almost no one communicates. I've run into 4 squads in the past 2 weeks that tried, hear me out, tried! To communicate. I remember when I first got my hands on this game and was mesmerized by when it was first released to the public.
the game's quality has diminished since launch even with high player count. It literally is a glorified singleplayer game. everyone is doing their own thing and not one word is being said.
Kinda glad no one talk anymore i remember play recon with a friend back in the day just to be yelled at for not sitting in enemy hq for the entire match killing one guy. But i guess if you want to ve told what to do and told your having fun sitting in a spot doing nothing you should try gmod rp or some arma ultra sim server.

I am a veteran tier HLL kickstarter backer with almost 6K hours in it. I am so sad when seeing what HLL has become, not just over last few months, but over the last few years also - Black Matter has made a lot of bad decisions too. However before the Team17 takeover, it was at least possible to enjoy the game up to some level, up to some quality level too. Now with the new bugs, constant stutters and other unaddressed problems it is 10x worse than the average low quality we got used to with Black Matter's latest updates.
Exactly. People were already frustrated by the poor quality of BM's updates. Team 17's work is even lower quality and that "trailer" was a perfect example.
Glad some people have some sort of brains.. HLL has been well, hell. Since the PZ4 was added.. felt like everyone has given up since then. red orchestra is shitty compared to this game. ive been playing for about a month now and i dont understand why everyone is hating the new updates. a game has to adapt atleast somewhat to survive. while i enjoy the realism and all that. i would also be excited to see that mixed with more fast gameplay. maybe a few otherthings to make it easier for new people who play this game to get hooked. like an offline mode like red orchestra had. something anything better than throwing someone into it and just expect themselves to learn quickly. i am saying this as a relatively new player that THERE IS NOTHING FUN about dying once a minute or sooner. i was excited to playt his game at first and im level 31 about the only thing ive learned 9in that time is how to spot things and how the controls work there is no satisfaction when you spend atleast a third to a half of the game in respawning with very little to show for it. im lucky to get a kill a game or some times less. despite how cautious i am or how dard i look regardless of my mouse setting regardless of graphics setting. it rerally is almost impossible to spot anyone that isnt on your team if they arent like 20 feet in front of you. and being quite honest that has to change if this game intends to keep from dying a slow and agonizing death. its not rewarding to just die and die and die you all can criticize me all you like but its not going to change that in my opinion that if its not made a little easier for new players to learn the game and actually get better at it quicker than it is currently there its eventually gonna die from lack of new players it will go the way of eevery super/ impossibly hard game that has ever existed. it will be a hype for a while but once the hype is gone it will be forgotten except by the few players who are masochistic enough to enjoy dying every 30 seconbs
@@banjerman7067 You don't like dying often but you want to make the game faster and less tactical? You're contradicting yourself. I can't blame Black Matter for selling. If I had a studio and was offered that much for my IP, yeah, I'd probably take the offer. But holy hell is Team17 ruining this game. I will be very surprised if they manage to redeem themselves. Until that happens, I don't foresee myself playing much, if at all, anymore.
I was positive about Team17 aquiring HLL due to higher amounts of development resources leading to more content, but slowly my trust in them has been going down and down

One other option is Darkest Hour Europe '44-'45. It's 15 years old, but basically has a similar gameplay style to HLL, just smaller servers and smaller maps. It has a ton of content, with Sicily 1943 on the horizon for late 2023.
Team 17 has opened a new studio to aid development, Cover 6 studios (Expression games) is pretty new from what I’ve read. Also Co-founder of team 17 Debbie Bestwick is stepping down as CEO and being replaced by Steve Bell at the start of next year. I hope these next few updates work out much better.
I wish people supported post scriptum when it had a chance so that we had competition, things would be completely different if they knew that there was somewhere else for the players to go, hence the in game store being added as they no people will just deal with it
HLL made the smart move in smoothing out its learning curve and creating an easy way into the game with semi-realism rather than the more hardcore gameplay of Post Scriptum. I think PS had a lot of potential and very well could have been better than HLL but they just didn't understand the player base they were marketing to relative to HLL. I say this as someone who tried to get into Post Scriptum back when HLL hadn't even released Carentan yet. My time with PS was confusing, aggravating, and more frequently than not felt like I was micromanaging myself and my teammates instead of relaxing and having fun. I wouldn't say the fault there is with the players for not supporting post scriptum, to fault players for taking the more enjoyable and easier path is just pointless.

Thanks for this. Personally I've gone from playing HLL 20-40 hours a week, to 0 hours in the last week. This was not influenced by anything other than the feeling I am not playing the same game anymore, one which I do not enjoy in the slightest. Damn shame, I honestly thought HLL was going to grow into one of the best multiplayer experiences of all time.
Same here, but from being depressed at the game and where I see it heading, fucking with shit like artillery and other core functions. It's gonna end badly.

I absolutely loved that game. Timeline accurate weapons and uniforms for maps, awesome voice lines in-game, the soundscape was good too. All-round awesome
I can only accept a 16 v16 on Finnish maps since that seems historically accurate, 2 or 3 platoons vs platoons, I'm probably gonna hate it and regret it, opposite of British update reaction.
This game worked despite it's confused identity straggling squad-based milsim and arcade shooter because of the realism learning curve. Making it more arcade is the beginning of the end.
I think that Hell let Loose shot itself in the foot long ago, when the more arcade-style of players flooded the game and the general feeling just vanished. I continued playing for a while but the lack of communication and tactics with the platoons/squads just destroyed it for me. And funny that you mention Post Scriptum, I just found my way back to that game and yes sadly there are barely players active but it is so much better that HLL right now if you want the tactical squadbased shooter experience. Hopefully PS gets more players back, it deserves it.
I had played both, with PS being the first I played. Never could quite get into HLL, the guns felt wrong and it felt too easy to me. There were some things that were kind of fun, but then the squad dynamics of the game fell apart and I just couldn't enjoy it anymore. Doesn't help the medic system was useless last time I played, meaning no one sat around to be revived which made playing as a medic an absolute bore.
@@guywhodoesstuff3314 My story is the same, though my time playing HLL was only 20 hours or less. Still a shame to see it getting bend over by team17
I don't know man. I've played since early 2021 and to be honest most of the North American Or Western European servers still have a lot of communicative, squad/tactical-minded guys that play. Yes it has gotten a little rough with some of the new players - but I just don't see this change that you are seeing. I think the worst thing we could do as a player base is just let go, because then the more arcade style players will just take over completely
The most irritating part about the British faction being added is the weapons. The M1917 Enfield isn’t even British, it was a stopgap weapon for the US forces in WW1 that they chambered for .30-06. The British only used it early in WW2 for the Home Guard. It never saw frontline service. Soldiers in North Africa would have had the No.1 MK.III or No.4 MK.1 Enfields. Same goes for the Lanchester, it was only used by the Royal Navy. Again Soldiers in North Africa instead would have used the 1928 Thompson. Plus what they did to the Bren should be a war crime. The weapons Team 17 chose were just wrong. They missed a great opportunity to include some of the most iconic weapons of WW2.
I am a British WW2 history fanatic. Both my Grandparents served in the British 8th Army and they were at the Battle for El Alamein. I was very excited when they announced this map as imo the North African campaign and the push by the British into Europes southern flank doesn't get much attention in video games. It's safe to say that I was more than disappointed..
Great video. I hope T17 can actually own up to this and actively communicate with the community instead of letting management run the game into the ground.
I think the problem is regardless of management decisions I don’t believe T17 devs have the ability to build HLL. They are known for making mobile games. I believe they are just out of their skill set level.
@CB Not exactly. So when team 17 brought out the game. They started putting together their own Dev team. From what we've been told, we don't know how much experience they have.
I hate how every fun shooter game in the past few years killed itself before the full release. Squad right now is the only one taking care of their past made poor decisions
It's funny because people hated OWI for adding emotes (I understand, I was very skeptical too) but I see now it's not something that affects gameplay, if they needed some extra money to continue development I think it's fine (if they don't go too far with it), since it seems like they want to keep Squad going in the right direction and not make it increasingly casual.
Also I think the britsh maps and stuff was already almost finished from Black matter and the new devs finished it off, so they havent actually seemingly made anything themselves
HLL got me back in to gaming but like many others I'm worried about the direction it's going. I bought Squad the other day so hoping to get into that soon. I expect it will take a lot to pull me away from HLL because despite the issues it's still very fun.
The problem really isn’t the devs it’s the investors trying to make as much money as they can out of their recent investments sandstorm is also dealing with the same problems these investors have no idea what goes into the making of the games and it genuinely sucks compared to game development of ladder years
alright hear me out after 3 months they have actually managed to change most of these issues that was addressed into this video. I still have faith in team 17. New things isnt always fun but stuff cant stay old forever.
HLL was supposed to be a mix of casual and hardcore. It's been leaning more and more to the casuals with all these updates. At least Squad is going back to it's roots and trying to keep it realistic and such.
Always remember that the choice to ultimately sell off the IP was up to Black Matter. Any problems that came with Team17 picking up the development start with Black Matter's choice to abandon what they had grown and nurtured.
Yes, but i alsp cant blame Black Matter for saying yes to 50 million, it is a busniess wheb you get right down to it. Its in team 17 to not piss it away

I'm not surprised in the slightest sadly. I was nervous when I saw the announcement from Black Matter that team 17 would be taking over because of how we've seen other games crash and burn when publishers have more control over the games. I don't have much hope they'll turn it around either. They are clearly drastically out of their depth and by the trailer alone there is 0 love going into this game- like we saw with black matter.

Get post scriptum and help it become alive again

What I don't get is that you could write a script, get 10 or 20 of you in a server, turn the HUD off and just run the scenario and get the footage you need... bosh into a video editor, within 12 -18 hours you could easily knock up a perfectly acceptable in-game footage trailer
This was done in 4 hrs or less using a GPT tool and some random audio clips scoured from web searches. I hope they resigned after they submitted it!

Terrain. Even the worst Squad map is better than the best HLL map from a "how advanced and polished is this game's design vision?"
HLL should reduce the black screen timer or make people able to mark things.
There was a better WW2 game, Post Scriptum but the casual playerbase just loves faster respawns and not relying on Medics.
the two new maps were literally unplayable
Someone else pointed it out, but it's funny that both Squad and Hell Let Loose are in similar spots. The difference is Squad realizes they messed up the core of what Squad should be and are going back to a more Project Reality style game, while Hell Let Loose is doing... well all of this.

Thank you MoiDawg for making this video, there is so much to be said, and I agree with most that you stated. " theres no hope for shooters anymore" - one good game will perish - another one would be created by indie developers. It's just a way of life ;-)
They’re not.
@@mike8386 yeah me and my buds can’t believe how slow the vehicles go. But we all agree the running speed was much needed and more accurate

Because it never got console support. Believe it or not, we're a large player base. Games do better when they're more available.
and its entire Dev team .. ouch!
@@tenacious645Hell Let Loose has always had a larger player base, even before its console release.
I really don't think HLL has sold super well on console.
Hll was more on the casual side
I enjoyed some Post Scriptum but refunded HLL when I tested it (even before all the controversy), shame PS fired all devs, probably wouldn't have happened if they saw this coming to HLL
Not expected my dlc money went into that trailer. lol
I have the smallest glimpse of hope that we will see Post Scriptum revived by the end of this year, it didn’t deserve what happened to it.
No it didnt at all. I got 1k plus hours in that game and its truly a gem.
I was positive about Team17 aquiring HLL due to higher amounts of development resources leading to more content, but slowly my trust in them has been going down and down
From what I heard from my friends who used to work there, Team 17 is held back by more longtime senior staff with massive egos. I've only met one game dev who had a positive thing to say about Team 17 and they work out of office in publishing support
@@stevesparkes165team 17 is acting more like marketing company/product firm then they are a game company. I've gotta do some digging on the higher ups- but I'm pretty sure they have business backgrounds not dev backgrounds. Actually I don't think they've ever even talked to average people... Because their way of communicating with the player base and their road maps, is too corporate.
As one of my favourite game over the years, its sad so see such things happening..😢
To be fair as a firearm collector, I have a 1943 manufacture SMLE with the wwi pattern, actually bought from royal tiger imports that imported a cache from Ethiopia
it is definitely going to die, that trailer is actually shocking, i don't think you can recover from that
Played Hell Let Losse since early acces. I've seen all the progress the old devs put in this wondefull game. I cant imagine how sad is to them to look at this right now and see all the hard work trown away for atracting arcade gamers. Didnt want to vbelive it, but I think this is it for HLL. Was a good ride.
One other option is Darkest Hour Europe '44-'45. It's 15 years old, but basically has a similar gameplay style to HLL, just smaller servers and smaller maps.
It has a ton of content, with Sicily 1943 on the horizon for late 2023.
The game is so good. I highly recommend it but it’s A LOT harder to play than Post Scriptum and especially HLL. It’s fun as shit though.
Good game, just way too old at this point
I mean, might aswell just repopulate RO2, which was better than HLL in every aspect tbh
7:35 as well as the clip out of the gun, u can see a gun a head and a pair of arms for a shadow and not the whole body which is amazing
Watch how this one company turned a $50 million investment into nothing with these 3 weird steps
I wish people supported post scriptum when it had a chance so that we had competition, things would be completely different if they knew that there was somewhere else for the players to go, hence the in game store being added as they no people will just deal with it
Us console peasants never had the chance🤦♂️finally pulled the trigger on HLL when they announced the brits but seems like i joined at the wrong time😂
HLL made the smart move in smoothing out its learning curve and creating an easy way into the game with semi-realism rather than the more hardcore gameplay of Post Scriptum.
@@automaton1740 Nah man, PS is just WW2 Squad. The thing that killed PS were the bridge maps.
@@automaton1740 your way of describing the situation is downplaying at best..
Hell let loose is casual shooter game never been hardcore or even tactical. The mechanics are arcady and if you check which is more tactical its ps.
Hell let loose will die in few years due the issue of casualization cause they are running out of ideas to improve and fix the game.
@@castor3020 thats subjective opinion.. what killed ps was the issue of what audience to please. Devs didnt go originally towards the milsim experience and on the side didnt fix issues or didnt know how to fix em (bugs)
God I miss post scriptum. Literally my favourite game of my entire life. I realize it had its issues but goddamn in my mind it blew hell let loose out of the water. Hell let loose team play is a joke and it's almost optional. Commanding a squad in post scriptum was so satisfying
Hell is let loose alright. Hell of a lot of bugs.
This is incompetence and biting over more than they can chew. I hope they understand this themselves, and revert to let the original developer take control.
oh man, i really hope they get caught up with the game and manage to turn it around cuz i really enjoy HLL, right now its not a ruined experience but im really worried what they might do next
I'm gonna give them the next few updates to turn things around. I'm pissed right now but this game has been the love of my gaming life for the past two years now, and I really don't want to see it die. But I'm taking a step back and waiting to see how things play out.
It’s going to die . Especially when it goes from 100 players to 50 players ( 25 vs 25) . It’s time to move to squad or post scriptum .
@@usmc4eternitey Unfortunately as a console player I don't have that option. I guess it's back to Mortal Kombat being my multiplayer kick.
Yeah if it doesn’t get better in after a couple updates I’m deleting that hoe , rip hell let loos
How does a team of people sit around and come up with these ideas and then say “ahuh thats good! Lets publish this to millions of people”
9:12 just love the funny good ol banjo kazooie track in the background ♥
I really like the dive you do when going from sprint to prone. Feels much more natural and realistic than stop running, then laying down
That's not feasible with 30lbs of gear on your back
@@rc5924 I disagree, the lunge isn’t a dolphin dive to the ground like in black ops but rather a small dive to the ground, I think realistically even with the gear, a solder that has found themselves in direct fire would dive similarly in the game. Adrenaline and the desire to not get torn up by machine gun fire is a big motivator
If you're okay with lower player counts (16v16), try Day of Infamy. It's a dead game but when it gets played, it's so damn good
RIP DOI
I absolutely loved that game. Timeline accurate weapons and uniforms for maps, awesome voice lines in-game, the soundscape was good too. All-round awesome
I can only accept a 16 v16 on Finnish maps since that seems historically accurate, 2 or 3 platoons vs platoons, I'm probably gonna hate it and regret it, opposite of British update reaction.
@@bruhism173 DoI is very much a team-based shooter first and foremost, the scale is smaller on purpose
It was already lacking on so many aspects, buildings you can't get into, weid mazes of unpassable fences on some maps etc. Also the lack of squadplay.
You must be a console player.
@@Z3phlar hahaha no I am not, PC only for me :P
Here's to hoping Black Matter is spending that $40 mil on developing HLL 2 on a new engine !

Post Scriptum is still a good game (imo), i'll be going to that now thanks to the recent debacle that Team17 has been pushing lately.
I love how the character puts his finger over the ejection port of the p14 and it still ejects XD
50 mill was an offer they couldn’t refuse. Don’t blame BM.
Its a business :( even though they probably care for what they were doing, when someone throws a bag with millions of dollars in your face... It's complicated, I know I would take the money and never work in my life ever again, you can live the rest of your life on passive income alone with that amount of money.
I mean no, any problems that came from T17... comes from T17.
@@TalladegaNightagreed with this so much. Imagine starting and building your dream title and someone likes it so much they offer to buy it for 50 mil. I'd be ecstatic. They really did "make it".
This is so sad, the felling of HLL was the best, the pace, the atmosphere, the community, then, they pretty much decided it is not the same game style anymore. They raised the speed of the game, and it fells like another game.
The game just isn't that good. Another thing for me is - If a developer demands you buy a subscription to play, I'm just passing by.
I miss post scriptum there's just a certain charm with it that hll hasnt captured for me personally.
Come back! Few people are playing it, but it's still alive!
This is nearly the exact same situation War Thunder players are in. Devs are slowly ruining the game, but we have no alternative to turn to.
War thunder been fucked. F2P, P2W… No hope unless occasional play and not taking the grind too serious.
Gaijin just released the roadmap, it's actually looking pretty promising. Don't give up just yet
@@thundreski People get lost with maps all the time. Once they follow through with the road map then I might put some faith back in them.

I had a feeling this would happened when it changed hands. I have stopped playing.
This new update just felt terrible to me. Haven’t enjoyed the game for awhile now and now that I’ve seen this, I don’t think I’ll be playing it again. Unless it improves.
BM has a careers section on their website. One of the requirements to get a job there was to actually play HLL. T17 should follow suit.
You know the developers that made the trailer were just thinking 'Yeah this is fine...who cares if the magazine is in the rifle. It go bang bang'. I wish I could have this level of incompetence and just get through life as oblivious as them.
for real, i feel a weatherman has an easier time getting fired for not saying its going to rain, then a QA team member from Team17 has to worry about at all. IF there even is a QA team, betting not with that trash fire of a trailer.
Now it's the time:
Post Scriptum must save Post Scriptum.
