Thanks for the vid on this guitar! I also have a black one with white scratch plate just like this, however with a humbucker in the bridge for some reason, and doesn't have the toggle switch, just two tone knobs and a volume. It was my first electric guitar and bought it for a couple of hundred bucks in 1995. Great to see another black one like this. I never knew they were called Spectrum, so I always called the Phantom of the Opera guitar. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! The body shape is a little thinner with sharper corners than the current so-cal which is more rounded off. Most of the later "model series" Charvels have this body shape, like the 375 and 475 deluxe models. The trem is great, it's a schaller made in germany floyd. It's not quite as good as the OFR with the thick/smooth baseplate - Schaller still makes the trem on this gutiar, they usually run about $150 new. I've found it to be perfectly reliable (I sold this guitar but I have several others with the same Charvel branded floyd).
Hey! Yep - the Model 8 has 3 major differences. It uses the JT-6 bridge instead of this one's JT-590, the bridge is top mounted instead of recessed, and the headstock logo is the "guitar" shaped one instead of the "toothpaste" logo on the Spectrum.
I have a model 8 with toothpaste logo (not guitar shape) in surf green. Looking to sell if you have any interest since you said you were looking for another.
Well I *should* be on a buying freeze right now but I've been known to fall to temptation lol. Send me a message totallyradguitars@gmail.com or on my website (about section has a contact form). Cheers!

Awesome! Most likely the bridge humbucker was added, it was a pretty common mod and I've seen a few like that. Really cool guitars.
I also bought mine for $590
Now going for 13-1500. Amazed
I have the 89odel and always though that switch was just a pre amp. Thanks for the heads up.
Definitely can be tinny when turned to far up.
They also came in a white crackle finish which is my favorite along with the blue one
I had a Desert crackle one. i sold it. i miss it so much
This is a totally rad guitar. Thanks for taking us through it. Love the toothpaste logo. Is the body shape so cal 1? How's the trem?

New channel! New sub! Killer!
Is there any difference between this model and the model 8 that came a year before it?

I think Jeff Beck played those at the time.
Had an orange one! He also played a pink Jackson model that I'm unsure of the name of, but which also had 3 single coils, and 24 frets.

Too much time auditioning show the effects show how the guitar sounds in different modes
