    my tip for getting ready for milsim games in general is to load up every thing that you want to bring with you on your person, and play dance dance revolution in it. if you are dying after the first song you have too much weight. take stuff off and repack from there and play some more. this will help you maximize your load out for movement and get you in shape for the event. DDR MAXX 2 is the best one if you can find it.

    Been wearing the same 7 pairs of darn tough socks for like 4 years almost every single day (i do have some costco wool socks i picked up too that i mix in there) but I haven't worn holes in any of them. Some of them are the super thin brown ones and the others are the thick/medium cushioned green ones for winter. I've worn some of them for over a week straight (don't recommend) and they were significantly less disgusting than any cotton socks I've worn for even 2 or 3 days. And Darn tough will literally ship you replacement pairs if you mail them any that you wear holes in. Such a simple thing that I've been very impressed by. I guess I just got used to garbage quality box store stuff and didn't think that a pair of socks could be made that well. Glad I was wrong.

    I don't think those milsurp bivy sacks are nearly as cheap as you mention. Even about a year and a half ago the cheapest one I found (just the goretex shell) was $80 and its not perfect by any means. I wish they were $40. It's still worth $80 in my opinion and kept me warm enough with a 30 degree bag inside when it dropped down to the mid to low 30s at Hill 559.
    Darn Tough socks are goated. Absolutely worth the investment. Thanks for putting this video out there guys. I'll likely reference it for the next MSW!

      You can really get by without it if you have good wet weather gear and are ok sleeping outside your sleeping bag or with just a poncho and woobie liner. Just keep your sleeping bag dry for when you do get a dry night.

    Honestly, I had a load of 10 mags specifically so I could keep any and all ammo that I was given inside of them so they couldn't be grabbed when I get searched. It ended up being a bit of a moot point since this was at Aerodrome and my gun eventually went down so I just dumped what I had into the ammo box of our platoon's machine gunner because I'm about that ammo mule life.

    When I did MilSim 20 years ago, we did it realistic, I was a civvie but had the benefit that half the team were "Been there done that" guys from police and military, so it was easy to be guided and some stuff was just personal preference. You pack to fight and survive with a modest level of comfort, you don't pack like you#re chilling in the woods for a weekend fishing trip out and about. You trade some weight that might usually go to comfort to offset the weight of your NODS, you might take a knife for your food, but you don't take a axe to split logs and make a bonfire.

    As an active duty marine infantryman.I dont know how you pack 70lbs of gear for 2-3 days reasonably.My packs going to the field maybe can hit 60.Thats with Helmet,Plate Carrier,gun belt sleeping bag,iso mat,and waterproofing sack for the bag,both SAPI's,and 12+MRE and atleast 5L of water,for a 2 day op with my job,i am taking an assault pack with 4 MRE's,hygiene gear,full sleeping system,and an isomat clipped to the outside,i also bring like 2 pairs of shirts,2 extra shirts,most likely a tarp too,then just wear my kit

    So I have a question about water. I plan on attending an event in Southern California, I believe on George Air Force Base. It's hot as hell out there, and I was wondering if there were any differences in regards to the TACSOP. I read in the TACSOP that we are not allowed to go back to our vehicles. Is that just for the day, or the entire multi-day event? Does that include trips for water? Are we responsible for carrying 3-days worth of water on us, and if so how far out is the campsite in the field for that event typically? Do you know if there's any potable water on site at all? Or if there's times we're allowed to go back to our vehicles for more water?

    • @TheBBWarrior
      @TheBBWarrior  3 місяці тому

      @@timring3684 you are not allowed to go back to your vehicle during any point of the game. There is water sources available for players, but plan on carrying 3+ liters to sustain yourself. The distance from staging to your first night’s patrol base varies depending on venue, but expect a mile or so with your ruck on

      @@TheBBWarrior What constitutes "game"? Is that for the entire #days duration of the event, or individual games throughout the day?
      I do plan on bringing a couple canteens and my Camelbak to the tune of 3 liters. I just wasn't sure if there would be a water source, like a water buffalo, or if we'd have to carry all our water in with us.
