    I played a 12 hour game recently. I went through maybe 400 bbs then entire game. It was 70 and sunny out, in Ohio so it was a little muggy. I drank like 5 liters of water that day. I had been hydrating all week prior to that as well. I remember going to event like 11 years ago where we would burn 400 rounds in an hour or so. The sims have come around since I quit playing 11 years ago. I'm glad to be back now.

    I played a mini milsim out in the forest for about 7 hours once in snow and -16C (like 3 fahrenheit I think?) with wind so make that around -20C. I played with a decent set of wool underclothes, invader gear pants and a combat shirt easily. Still had low trail shoes with disposable oxygen activated feet warmers and I didn't freeze at all after that. Dried my feet when snow came in too. Balaclava, cap, goggles.
    Still froze some. One guy played in some impressionist swedish m59 kit without gloves, balaclava and a screencap xD and he was fine. The secret is to keep your core warm. A warm vest is amazing for this, since your body have more blood to warm your hands with. If your feet and hands are cold, the rest of you will freeze. If your core is warm, your feet and hands will also be warm. Feet get wet and is harder to put more layers on top of though.
    Your hands will freeze even with good gloves. The main thing is to seal any opening air can get into like on your neck, wrists, ankles and waist, core warmth ofcourse. Adjustable puffy clothes is great for this. Having a thermos with warm coffee is amazing for when you start freezing.
    When your feet get wet - change your socks, put a plastic bag over each and then slip on your wet shoes.

      I know your comment is over a year old, sorry about that. But how do you eat and drink during a 40-hour paintball event?

    Easy to use shelter, easy to use rain gear, and easy to use sleeping gear (all that keeps ye dry and warm) that you will actually carry and use is one off the biggest things I'd recommend for MSW. I forgot a sleeping pad and got soaked to the bone at Balkar Ridge a few years ago and your boy slept on his poncho on a rock and woke up with blue finger tips and shaking. Shoutout to the guy who brought a stove and lit it below me while I wore my poncho and warmed my personal poncho-tipi that let me warm up and dry out. And shout out to the cadre that kept me from quitting.

      @@awakened9796 Ironically I was 100lbs heavier than I am now and in way worse shape, and still made it through. MSW is no joke, not that its like ungodly physically difficult but it's definitely not an event to just brush off preparing for.

    For food I recommend a jet broil or any other hiking burner and freeze dried food. Mre doesn't stand military ready to eat. It stands for military rarely edible. Also good hiking boots work. You don't need combat boots. Carry only what you need. Leave the rest at green zone or spawn.

    Eric, I'm kind of curious how you guys handle respawn areas and safe zones for medium and long form games. What's the general rule when you're hit? How are amenities like toilets being arranged, or access to safe zones for people who, for example, may need to adjust or swap out their eyepro?
    Obviously you want to give people a sense of immersion by requiring them to pack more instead of going back to safe to reload or swap guns, but there are some obvious limits in terms of safety and enjoyment of the game.

      @ehouse2326 Рік тому +4

      There are porta-John’s and bathroom facilities provided throughout the venues that we rent. Obviously players can remove themselves from play to use those facilities. As for swapping eye protection, that’s usually done at an out of play facility like that. The game itself stays moving throughout the entire field, but there are and always will be areas that players can go if they need to do something out of game. It’s just not somewhere that we make a mandatory part of the gameplay loop, like a fixed respawn or safe FOB would be.

      @kylegungamers2755 Рік тому +1

      We don't have safe zones is the short answer.
      Bathroom setups change one facility to next. If you have an eyepro issue just ask staff for help. The absence of safe zones helps players have a better experience

    I wonder how many of these hardcore milsim players are also D&D nerds or once played as well. I'm betting it's probably a good 30-40%. 😂

    you don't need anti fog... you need a better way of keeping your exhaling breath from entering your eye pro... never had a problem in Afghanistan or Iraq with fogging and I don't now with Bolle emergency pilot goggles over my glasses... though I am saving to have some inserts for my V12 ESS eye pro. :)

    I totally agre about the hiking equipment. It is far superior. People forget that military equipment can be quite shitty because generals and bureaucrats are not that worried about soldier ‘s comfort. They are concerned about the final price. The Alice backpack for instance is awful. The normal “tactical” day pack most people buy, full of molle and stuff is ridiculous when you have to cross a barbed wire fence, it has a very “fat” profile, sticks too much from your back, and you look like a dolphin with that dorsal fin. Compare it to a Mistery Ranch model, same volume, another class.
