Storyline:
Pulp novelist Tobias Finch (Walter Brooke) wants to write "The Saga of the Courageous Cartwrights"-but the courageous Cartwrights want no part of such an exploitive project. Undaunted, Finch decides to pen the life story of over-the-hill lawman Reed Laramore (Bruce Cabot), who revels in being "glorified." Inevitably, Laramore causes trouble for everyone concerned when he tries to live up to his own legend. Written on rottentomatoes.com
Reviews:
"Ernest Truex and Nydia Westman guest star on this Bonanza episode where the two play a nice elderly pair of grifters. Well at least Truex is or tries to be, Westman just goes along with the man she loves.
The thing is that Truex has a truly disarming manner and he takes the Cartwrights in good. But he keeps getting caught and keeps going on with one lie after another to cover it up. Even with the disarming manner it was hard to believe people could be so gullible with the exception of Dan Blocker because Hoss has such a good heart he's always gullible.
A gang of ragamuffin kids prove to be Truex's salvation and he their's. You'll have to watch the episode to see how that works out. Truex and Westman do fine in roles admirably suited to their types." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com
"So, a swindler moves to town, and just when he is about to get caught for cheating the town's middle class, rich liberal elite from out of town devises a way out of jail for him. The elite create new victim class and get the town's middle class to set up and pay for a new social program. And this was in 1964? The acting was good though, I particularly liked the last little kid at the store, first he bit off a piece of licorice, then he run off with the whole jar. Nice touch." Another reason why Hoss Cartwright &: the rest of The Cartwright Family should always be on guard when strange people arrive in Virginia City, Nevada. A real valuable lesson for all 4 Female Bellydancing 👑 Queens.
When tv shows were simple and awesome. Thanks.
Glad you like them! 🤠👌🎬🍿
i dont know how theyve come up with those beautiful stories
Great movie
Thank you
There's always someone trying to rip the Cartwrights off young and old. Hoss sure knows how to pick emm, hahaha 😂😂😂
Hoss was a gentle giant, just like Cheyenne Bodie!
I like Hoss but sometimes he can be so annoying always trying to be the hero. I know he has big heart but sometimes I am like God Hoss stay out of it or leave it alone
Wish I could meet some modern day Cartwright's
What a great way to turn out
Around 6:25 ---- Hop Sing was hilarious!! !!!

The sheriff was played by Bing Russell, Kurt Russell's father.
Just find that out, did ya?
@@ApartmentKing66 Well, I myself didn't know he was Kurt Russell's dad until last week. And I've seen him in old shows for decades. It's not necessarily common knowledge to everyone.
Thank u love it
Thanks for sharing another classic Bonanza
Thank you for sharing

Hoss brought an old couple to his home. The old man Sam want some 200 dollar to start a business. Cartwright gave him that money to buy a land in Virginia and that's the deal. But Sam want to become a big and famous man and the case was solved in court. This western classic is fantastic. Great show.

Crooked little old couple, why did Hoss hv an over large heart 💕👍👌😘🥰⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I can’t stand that lilold fart “low down swindler.” No room in my soul for despise them.
Just subscribed. I've watched a ***pot full of your Bonanza offerings and figure we (your viewers) owe you that much. Thanks.
What can one say about these Cartwrights, other than their big hearts that give them troubles to solve.
Excellent
Seems that Hoss is so kind and generous. I saw him doing such things often. Asking strangers to stay in Ponderosa even for a few days.... 😄🤭👍😍
Adam said Boss had brought home stray people every since he was 5 yrs old. All the Cartwrights brought home stray people at the drop of a hat 😂
I meant Hoss
@@lacybolden6909 Hoss is a boss!
Used to be that most country folk were kind and generous like Hoss, and many still are! Country life is the only life for me!
Joe look so cute in his outfit. 😊
He’s always cute!❤

38:20 okay, if he's really too old to be in jail, then he's too old to be doing whatever caused him to land there LOL
So they won't take charity but they'll take advantage of the people who want to give? I hate scammers! Just drop the ego and take the charity gosh. lol

Cuz they’re true “low down swindler”
15:26 If this was filmed in front of a live studio auduence that would be a good time for them to laugh.
Great show!
Sam would run away with the money if gets a chance.
Legendary actor : Ernest Truex 👍

Social security was nonexistent in those days, and orphans would fall through the cracks of society to lead lives of crime and desperation. It was only thanks to private initiatives and religious institutions to fill in that much-needed gap.
Good show hey
Ol Adama! The Commander of Battle Star Galactica still being Pop Cartwright of the...yep I'm contentedly drunk! Fool'n round with TV shows at Lorne Greene's acting career expense...and DAMN...need 'nother swig!

14:22. Oh no! Hop Sing was a bit gullible himself, eh?!!!
Oh no, it gets worse ....Hop Sing wasn't the only one....
9.99? Sam you sure have lost your mind!
❤❤❤❤❤
I love Bonanza, especially those episodes which have Adam. However, I can’t watch this episode til the end because I hate that cunning lil old couple so much. There’s no room in my soul for despise that “low down swindler” couple.
38:00 If you want to be a big man, then don’t be lazy, don’t swindle. Such a lil cunning old man.
28:39 she says he owes a dollar and three cents - "unless you don't happen to have that much money on you". Hah!!
One dollar was worth maybe 19 or 20 $ back then
Love the episode but it gets a little annoying how dumb/gullible they make hoss sometimes
Vintage Walkman's not just Sony are selling for a really high amount, I still think cassette are better than cd and physical media is cool. Sure Bonanza might not be the place for the conversation.....
Legenda pôr favor!
40:42 The lady in the blue dress sitting next to Ben at the trial is seen as an extra on numerous episodes of this show, never credited and rarely speaking in her background roles. I wonder if anyone knows the actresses name?
What a wonderful Christmas carol. More and more the episodes would be goody two shoe stuff. It was nice, however, as the shows featured Hoss' character more and more, they got real sappy. The show was transitioning from a hard core western to a morality play. Perhaps one of the reasons Pernell Roberts left during the next season.
"Oh Sam"

👍
He told Hoss not to tell his dad or brothers about this (about 12:38 ) . Red flag
16:25 the con artist feels that for another person to call him "con artist" , would be excessively harsh. That's typical
Yup, that’s his name “a low down swindler” old fart, her too.
I wonder what if they get away with it?
$200 would have been like almost $4000 in those days (?).
How about 3025.00dlls,
And a freaking job?
How you like them apples?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hop sing is kinda spoiled he's like a child he needs to learn to share the kitchen it wasn't like he was being fired. The old lady was only going to be there a few weeks but to keep hop sing from complaining they should have taken turns her have the kitchen one day him the next. However hop sing would probly complain
That lady, Sam's wife -- I feel like I've seen her in another movie (?)
She was in,,, the reluncted astronaut ,,,,the ghost & Mr. Chicken,, THE CHASE,,,,& OTHERS
You have...Nydia Westman, also in Dragnet, various TV commercials.
In "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken," if I remember right, when they talked about not being able to remove the blood stains from the piano keys in the old house, she kept saying, "And they used Bon-Ami!" 😄
We're they hinting at the end that this would be the founding of Boys' Town?
Boys Town was founded on December 12, 1917, as an orphanage for boys. Originally known as "The City of Little Men", the organization was begun by Edward J. Flanagan, a Roman Catholic priest.

Apparently they don't have any orphan girls.
Good question; it seems that in Virginia City NO girls can be born, its a machos town
They are sold to brothels
Fave episode: I Was A Teenage Marxist Leninist
