  • When it comes to learning to love yourself the way God loves you, one of the things you need to realize is that love has a flow to it. Love is meant to flow from God to you and this must be received. In response to receiving God’s love, you are able to love Him back. Out of the love you have received, you give it out to those around you that cross your path.
Many Christians have not lived in the flow of God’s love. They have spent years trying to love others, while completely ignoring their own heart. This led to eventual burnout and even deep seated bitterness. Many have fallen into an identity crisis, nervous breakdown or emotional crash because they spent years, even decades, ignoring themselves. Many have been trained to spend their lives helping others, but their own heart was ignored, creating a massive imbalance from what God intended.
Believers have been taught to live their lives in such a way that they love God. In attempts to love God, they feel so distant from Him. They don’t know how to connect to His love because they have never been taught the importance of learning to receive HIs love. The Bible says that “we love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). We missed the fact that you cannot love God effectively unless you have learned to receive His love. Then loving Him becomes a response to what you have received.
Loving yourself should never be selfish. If it is, then it is not love to begin with. That is because love is a flow, a river that cannot get damned up. The love you receive from God must flow out to others. But you cannot skip over the receiving part.
In this episode, we want to emphasize the importance of love's flow and help you discover where there may be blocks in your life.

Connection is essential for all human relationships! Great suggestions for how to keep connection alive FLOW or PHLO as I like to call it --Put His Love On! (Col 3:14-17)
Something that is a consistent throughout your messages Mark --- Self examine and be teachable! ♥ that!!
Don't you guys think.... BTW, Good to see you again Melissa!!
This can only happen with mature people, who are able to empathize well. If you AREN'T teachable and you aren't open to hearing suggestions from other people; no amount of discussion, talking, reasoning, asking, etc. works. You might as well be talking to a wall or as some say, "water a dead plant".
They don't want input. Observably, they are extremely self centered because they truly believe, they have it all together. Blaming everyone and everything around them, that has fallen apart and they are standing tall saying, "Look how pathetic and stupid you are!!" As they stand alone in their narcissistic* self!
I have seen far too many (empathetic) people wounded from this epidemic of selfishness, who are not teachable ~ breaks my heart :'(
Only God can soften a hardened heart

It’s been a blessing for me at this moment. Question if I’m the only one who’s asking about this. For my husband there’s nothing wrong with him. It’s so hard 😢

I find it very difficult to receive Gods love when I focus on my failures, instead of accepting that there’s no way that I can live a sinless life. I keep thinking “how could God forgive me for that”. Forgiving yourself is the start that frees you up to receive from Him. It also keeps you humble and less likely to judge others because you know that you yourself are and always will be flawed . In that way God uses our failings to help us to feel compassion for others, and in identifying ourselves with them we can hopefully help them to find His peace, forgiveness and love. Does that make sense to you?

I get exactly what you say, as I feel the same. May God help us to see and love ourselves the way He sees and loves us. ❤️
