Interesting. I was enlisted, but military history was a huge, huge part of what we were taught in boot camp. If anyone tried this crap with the instructor, well, it sure wouldn't be pretty. Basically denying all the experiences and valor of those who came before.

      i'm curious.
enlisted, fine, so maybe this is above your pay grade.
but then, the us army generally trains people to function ABOVE their pay grade, if needed.
so, as the instructor, how would YOU respond, in THAT INSTANT?
(there are real, known answers for such situations. do you know any of them? do you have a different method?)

@@victorfinberg8595 Well, I was in the Marines, and I know exactly what a drill instructor would have said in that sort of situation. He would have said: People that served before you have died for that uniform. Are you saying what they went through was a lie?

@@covingtoncreek i hope you don't mind, but i am going to press you on this.
the cadet has already said exactly that. he has said that all of history regarding the holocaust is a lie, and that HIS version of history is correct.
thus, all your question is doing is clarifying that the cadet is not only speaking in general, but shitting on the legacy of the military.
so then, once the cadet agrees that he is doing that, what's your next move?
your approach is certainly valid, but not necessarily what i would do. i will let you answer my question before i say what i would do.

@@victorfinberg8595 If he persists in saying the military history he is being taught is a lie, then he's going to get punished, pretty much worked to death. If he still persists, he would be out. Maybe NJP, or maybe just out. It's the military so we're not going to try to sit down and chat too much. That's just how it is. I actually encountered things a bit like this in the Marines, I'm sad to say, but the guys who felt this way would only say stuff behind closed doors, in low voices. When the first concentration camp was liberated Eisenhower ordered the media in to record what happened so that it could never be disputed that the atrocities actually happened and what is happening today?
There was a movie staring Kirk Douglas as a colonel who was the commander of the military who liberated the camp and he asked for 400 trucks to transport the survivors to a better location to provide them with medical help. When questioned by his commanding officer about why he needed so many trucks he said _"because you wouldn't have sent 400 ambulances._" I don't know how much of that movie is fact and how much is Hollywood but that line just sounds real. The character Kirk played was Jewish and later built or helped to build the Israeli army but got killed by a conscript soldier at the end.

My uncle who lived to 100 joined the service immediately after Pearl Harbor, graduating from the West Point of the Air and stayed in the war for the entire duration, even as he had a wife and newborn son back home in Georgia. We talked a lot about his experiences, and he insisted that the reason he joined (he became an officer and achieved captain) was because he would rather fight on the enemy's shores then than on our own later. After the war was over, he sent for his family and remained in the service piloting the top brass for several years. He would have had some strong words for this over-privileged little shit.

Been looking for this scene forever. My grandpa witnessed the Holocaust first hand. He was in Nazi occupied territory and saw the gas vans among other things.
I love this scene because the crux of the argument that it wasn’t 6 million somehow disproves the Holocaust is laughable. Even historians don’t agree if it was 5.7 or 6.3 million so if it was much lower (which it wasn’t since records for people were bad and people disappeared period like my Grandpa’s cousin we don’t know what happened to him)
The real question as brought up by Nizkor founder
Is “why are these people calling the Holocaust into question?”
And his conclusion is that “if the Holocaust didn’t happen National Socialism is a viable form of governance again”
Which is what it boils down to which is why so many sympathizers cling to this argument.
There is a great scene in another movie called Believer where the main hero says “wait a minute if Hitler didn’t do it what are we praising him for? He barely got rid of anybody then”
So the whole conversation and argument is flipped on its head.
Going back to the scene though:
Fantastic work for a B movie action flick nicely written and totally unexpected. Saw all of the substitute films as a kid.

The 6 million figure is central to the holocaust story.
So the Red Cross paper claiming 271,000 deaths is........Inconvenient.
The total numbers have been revised downwards several times and even the Soviets admitted that they hugely inflated the number of victims.
The Soviets arguably had the biggest body count of everyone, ever, with second place being taken by Chairman Mao's great leap forward.

    • @JAmediaUK
      @JAmediaUK 25 днів тому

Actually the figure is approximately (records were destroyed before capture) 12 million +/- 1 million. The Israelis only count the Jews killed for the Holocaust which is a Jewish remembrance. I also knew people who saw the camps first hand during liberation.

It never ceases to amaze having watch many films about miliary recruit training schools where there is much emphasis of strict and tough drill instructors who put much emphasis on everything being just right and perfect
Then, when we see this so-called elite tough training Sgt Van is wearing a beret with no idea how it should be worn properly, i.e. a crap-hat
I was just a lowly LAC who joined the RAF back in 1971 with a mix of other recruits who compared to Army or Marine recruits we did 'just' six weeks so we could march out on a passing day parade and only about 2 hours on the firing range BUT we were all taught how to wear our berets so we did not look a right prat as this Sgt Van.
We were taught to soak our berets in boiling hot water, put them on our heads, pull the twine to make a knot at the back of our heads, and then most of all, shape the fold by pulling it pull it down at the correct angle over the right side of our heads, which we continue to do every day, so the beret would look smart and not a crap-hat.
Often these films have ex service personnel as advisors, some such films have the actors join a recruit school and pass out with the soldiers. Often you can see, even though it is a film, a director and actors but time, effort and practise has gone into getting scenes military correct BUT even then you still see actors in smart uniform wearing their berets as crap-hats.
    WHY???
    continuing so the fold
