1989 HiStar 48’ Convertible
Give me your thoughts on the, price, condition & what you think it would cost to get her ship shape.
"No Hassle's is sold ‘as is’. There’s an issue with one motor overheating; the cause is yet to be determined. The exterior of the boat needs paint. The bottom was painted with 5 coats 5 years ago per the seller. The seller has the new motor for the windlass, it just needs to be put on the boat. The upper helm needs new upholstery. The refrigerator on the aft deck is not working. It is always recommended that the buyer inspects the unit or has it independently surveyed to confirm the condition prior to purchase.

There's quite a few negative comments here quoting how much everything will cost....but I'm thinking that anyone seriously considering refitting this boat then they are likely DIY. Now it's not something for the fainthearted or those that can't spare a lot of time (hence why so many boast get bought by dreamers only to be sold nowhere near completion).
I thought the owner was quite upfront and honest. The boats working so not a whole lot to do, get her on the hard and clean hull, and you have yourself a live aboard.
Maybe a good choice for a loop boat too if you are okay the way she looks.
Everyone shall have different opinions. This was mine :)

25k to paint, I need to paint boats!
Did he mean 25 hundred?? 25 grand to paint seems very high. i got a price quote for a smaller boat, a 28 foot sail boat, for 900 dollars. so i gotta ask if that was correct or not. i am not trying to argue, i just honestly want to know.
Sounds like that price was a little low, but would need to see the painters previous work and of course get all the prep & product details. Cost me 24,000. to paint my 46 from rub rail down to boot stripe as the bridge was in great shape.

Not as easy as painting a house.......but......buy this boat....do it yourself (learn from you tube).....flip the boat and now you've got the experience to make it a job/business :)
It's very expensive to paint big boats especially the topside. Endless prep work.

That's a nice one man wish I had the money I would scoop that one up I think I could handle the Cosmetics I would just have to find a yard that would let me haul it out and let me do the work definitely worth 50 Grand all day long and twice on Sunday

Another $50 to $75k for a refit...now we're up to $150k😮😮😮😮
She’s easy to image when New. Just needs cosmetics 👍
I just see this being a big headache.
Sadly, it will take at least another 50k+ to bring her up to snuff. When the lack of care is so obvious, it would be hard to trust all the mechanics. Once a very nice yacht.

I think the prices he mentioned seem about right. The connections I have are the same places he got the estimates from.

100th 'Thumb's Up for You, but stopped at 3:51. That needs stripped and repainted in the generator room so badly.The storages even before weren't clean.I was So hesitant when he 1st said, "It Was a Commercial Fishing Vessel", that I knew there'd be 'wear', but this is 15-20k in just Cleaning and repaint/coat Inside the storages and lazarette.and waterline.I won't watch further.TY anyway.
How many hours on the engines and generator please? The owner said that the generator has been repaired recently… Have the engines ever been rebuilt previously?

It's got a water maker, that surprises me. $700 for a 50' is awesome close to beach. You don't have to do everything right away. Diy yard Palmetto Cruise it on up, if it's gonna break it's gonna break out there 😂 Capt. Ron. Love it or don't buy it.
