Hi Vicky, I am a nurse also. Its good to hear you documented your experience as a nurse. I wished I did that as well. I learned so many things about myself during the years I was at the bedside and about life and death. I am kicking myself now for not keeping a journal during those years while I was in nursing school and a bedside nurse. I was an avid journaler in 2005 and noticed I only journal when bad things happen to me. I haven't journaled in over a year now and just trying to get back to it again.
Thanks so much for sharing. Love your journal video's, they are very inspiring and motivating. I've been journaling on and off (more off than on unfortunately) since the age of 12, I am 40+ now. I love getting ideas on how others journal.
I am a 57 year old woman that has started journaling again. I have had so much to deal with in the last few years. I find it really helps. My husband has Parkinson’s, just had to place my mom in a facility for Alzhiemers, I cared for her for 17 years and we lost our home of 15 years to a fire. So yeah, needless to say that I needed an outlet. I find your videos very inspiring. So a big Thank you!
I love that you inspired me to keep a "diary" again and that it is ok. I love to write, but live a boring life. you have given me hope to tune into myself again and enjoy my life.
Very interesting! My whole idea of journaling has changed from watching your videos. I thought this video was very insightful. Great ideas! Can't wait to pick up pen and paper. Love it
I used to journal when I was little like 9 years old,I would fill in everything that went on in that day,it's something that I have carried on doing ever since.I never knew that anyone else did it because in my life no one around me kept journals, that's why I love the internet because now I realise that there are so many other people out there who were into this just like me.
Also I totally agree with you about writing stuff down before telling someone, sometimes we reveal too much when are emotions are on the high.I always end up doing this and then regret it so I think it's a good lesson to take on,to write in the journal first before blabbing.
Hello, I was wondering if you saw the YT video " A Glimpse into my Journaling Life" by Wisdom Junkie? I love the idea that he keeps separate journals for his two grand kids until they are old enough to pick up the journaling habit. Its a fantastic and sweet idea !
Wonderful advise and suggestions. This is the type of your I kept most of my life. I'm in my mid 50s and recently stared other journals (many influenced by UA-cam videos) but feel a need to go back to the Dear Diary format for many reasons you discussed here. Thank you for these heart full videos.
Great thoughts and ideas. Writing things down rather than blurt it out to a friend is a great idea. I'm 52yo and still gave trouble writing down my true thoughts and feelings because I'm horrified that someone might read it.
I am as well mortified at the thought of someone taking my journal and reading it! I guess that can sometimes hold me back in writing as much as I would like too.
I'm with you on this one. I used to journal a lot in high school and through my twenties but when I read some of the entries now I'm a bit embarrassed. I've seriously considered burning them to save my children from possibly reading them when I die. Lol! I journal some now but I'm definitely a lot more edited in my true feelings.
This idea used to stop me too from writing, for many years, but it's silly really, it's like not driving for fear of a car accident. I just tell myself if someone read it, so what, I can live through that, and who would want to go through my private things and read it. The pleasures and the psychological benefits of journalling are so much worth risking someone reading your thoughts.
Pensieve. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan too. I love your suggestions. I fear though that I wont ever be able to go beyond the typical things I did that day journal. I had a diary when I was younger, but an Aunt got a hold of it, read it, and made fun of it. Never wrote feelings down again. :)
Thank you!! I couldn't remember!! Oh no!! That is very scarring, perhaps you could try little by little?? Maybe if you slowly start up again you can fully open up. That's really an unfortunate thing that happened.
I enjoy your videos on journaling. I just started journaling again in April inspired by people like you on UA-cam to journal as a tool to improve myself/life. It has already REALLY helped, I'm so glad I did it. P.s: I'm a nurse too :-)
First of all LoVE that you are a nurse and Love even more that you love to journal!! So glad you got back into it and I love looking back to the times I did bedside when I was a nurse it's great memorires!!!
Wow, thank you for sharing this. I wish I had that kind of insight when I was in high school and in college. I did keep a written journal but I did not have as close of a relationship with it as you have had. I think that this would be something that every young person should watch because it would be so helpful for them growing up. Journaling is a great tool, it really is. I feel like I'm rambling ha! I'm just so excited by the information that you've shared in this video. Your information is something I'm going to keep in mind while I'm journaling or when I'm going through something really hard :) Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words and that it did touch you like it touches me!! I would love to share this with young people because it did help me alot during those years and that's why it has become such a great friend for me!! xo
Hi! I am new to your channel and I am loving your videos..thanks for making them! This video made me feel so much better about journaling. I too have kept a journal since I was a young kid. I have been keeping an online journal for the last 10 years and I have missed the "therapy" that comes with writing..but have always worried about people reading my thoughts (you know and having me committed! lol). This makes total sense and I am going to start back up journaling in a book! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. :)
Love this video and hearing about how you've journaled over the years. So true about journaling... it really can be a vault even when emotions can change so quickly. And re-reading old thoughts really is so cool... otherwise college or the past seems like "the good old days" even if it wasn't or even if we can't remember why. I like how you hightlight/title your entries.
TheJournalCEO Thank you so much that means alot to me coming from the journal cel!! I've watched lots of your videos and I LOVE looking at your pages. Thanks for sharing all that you do! xo
Thanks so much for sharing. I recently started following you after I found your Hobonichi style journal video. I've never keeps a diary feeling that life just wasn't that great to write about. But I LOVE to just write. So I write quotes on paper and I have joined a few groups with Pen Pals so that I have a reason to write. Thanks so much for the inspiration and advice.
Thank you so much for watching and following some of my other videos! I think if you feel satisfied and are getting your writing fix then that is just wonderful!! Thank you for sharing! Xoxo
Hello Miss Vicky, it's Ms Vickie. I'm a new subscriber. I came across your videos, when I was looking at planner videos. I watched this one and I loved it. I use to write, then I stopped because my ex was reading. But I had forgotten about journaling and looking back at what I wrote. I think now oh I I had written down what was going on at this time or that time. I would feel better with a sense of my actions and me. I plan to start back to journaling. Thanks for sharing. Big Hugs. Vickie
Hey Ms Vickie!! You have a great name!! Hhahah Thank you for subscribing and watching!! I'm glad to hear that you plan on going back. I have had that too were someone read through it and it ruins the experience for you but I think journaling is so important for you that who cares if someone goes through it!! Shame on them!!
I am with robin, as much as I love journaling the idea of someone getting a hold of my journal and reading it scares me!! Sometimes our written thoughts can be so private. Hiw do u deal with that? Has it ever happened to u, where somebody went behind ir back and read ur private thoughts? Great video btw, I always enjoy watching ur videos so much! :)
I really enjoy your videos especially about journaling I keep a remembrance book (from Little House on the Prairie when Laura said she had to remembrance book) I also sometimes title my entry. I was put the date, the next line, I put dear whoever, and then I would put down like my nephew's wedding or this or that. I found that help me, is where I put the date, I put like the holiday or if it's someone's birthday. How old they are. I don't know if this could help you or anybody.
Theodore Luderman What an incredible idea! I love that and it truly is a wonderful remembrance! Thank you for sharing that! I will need to incorporate this into my journal!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories about your journals I have been journaling for quite a few years as well and I have gotten into a funk where I barely write. I really want to start again and also to start my own creative journals with pictures, especially one about my upcoming Wedding. Did you keep a specific journal about that or was it just documented in your daily one? Your videos have given me inspiration and I hope I can learn some new things. Thank you!
snapefangirl I'm so glad to hear that you are inspired!! I documented in my time capsule journal for that year!! I didn't actual do one just specifically but I think it's a really great idea!!
I'm loving your videos Vicky especially about journaling, midori and filofax. Did you get that planner with the horse drawing from barnes and noble? I'm now on a hunt for it since I own a horse and would love to have one like this.
Hello!! Thank you so much for watching! Yes the horse drawing one is from Barnes and Noble and I got it a few years back but I think I saw it there recently! I hope your able to find one!!
You are a journaler !...this is difficult for many for so many reasons.....just like being an athlete,a scientis, a singer,...and that's ok...for I'm not a singer nor am I an athlete ...lol ...one of the main things of journaling I try to express you have done so here to...is that we all play a part in whatever happens in our life be it go or bad...and checking in with a journal gives you time to understand that you are not your emotions and you did play a part in the situation and it allows you to see that preventing a bad situation getting worse......who els knows you better than your own subconscious that we suppress for fear of finding out that we are not that perfect, great, kind, caring person....lol. And it's ok to admit that your only perfect to a point and great to another with a few stray bits here and there....it's ok .....and having a journal can teach you that!
Love sis video made me wish I write more wheni was going through a lot I wrote In a journal but nothing like u did... What do you do when you want to write something but you don't have your journal no paper or computer near u?
Where do you find all of your thick beautiful journals at? All I can seem to find are the smaller ones. I love the real thick ones, I tend to do a lot of writing myself. Thank you for your time.
Where do you store your journal to keep others from reading them? Also, how do you separate a daily log (or hobonichi) and dear diary? I've always kept one journal, but I like your ideas on journaling. It seems having two would be redundant though.
Can I ask how do you keep your journals separate. I mean do you find you duplicate entries in your dear diary journals and in your other journals where you record events.
Jill Holmes Not usually but if I do then I don't really stress about it. If i repeat something then it's probably something I'm really working through!
Have you ever journaled about a problem and your feelings , only latter to find out that your inner most thoughts and feelings wrong. That truly helps you learn about yourself. Hope you can share your experience .
Love this video :) I like how you suggested using the tabs on the side. I hadn't thought about that before! I started an instagram recently dedicated to journals if you'd like to take a look: the_diary_library.
VERY inspiring! Thank you!
Absolutely great video as to how we can self soothe and work through things by way of diary entry 😊
I love your margin index idea! Thanks for another great video!
I love this video it helps me a lot thanks 😇😂

I used to journal in middle and high school. I don't remember why I stopped. Your video reminded me of how helpful writing in a journal can be.
NikitaBx2 I hope you start writing again!! Have you attempted yet?
I've started again. Taking it slow not forcing myself to journal everyday. Thanks again for the inspiration!

At Barnes and noble!
