Rolex traditionally tinted the lume material in the rectangular 6 o’clock lume plot a different shade to differentiate it from the 5 and 7 o’clock round plots. Rather than being a detriment to the condition and value of a vintage Rolex, this detail can often be an unmistakable marker of authenticity that’s as difficult to counterfeit as the radioactivity from a vintage radium dial. To say that the color of those lume plots “don’t match” only reveals the narrator’s lack of knowledge and naivety.
