  • 65 lbs./29.5 kg. “Shovel” Deadlift - age 55, January 24, 2024, 1:17 pm
    🌺CAUTION: THIS VIDEO IS FOR DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY.
    THIS EXERCISE CAN BE DANGEROUS.
    PLEASE VIEW WITH DISCRETION.
    There is no other full body exercise I know of that brings me to failure with a lighter weight than the “Shovel”.
    In this video, I’m using a 30 lbs., 5 foot bar loaded with 35 lbs. of plates.
    The goal is to keep the bar perfectly level as I sit my hips down as low as I can while not letting my arms get pushed into my legs.
    To do this I have to push down hard with scapular depression on the end of the bar, which then puts a lot of pressure on the arm that is closer to the load by turning it into a static fulcrum.
    This results in frontal plane torque being applied to the entire body in a way that is similar to that of turning the spring loaded dial on a timer.
    This imposes incredible amounts of stress on the core structures that resist lateral bending/flexion of the body.
    Even though I appear to be standing on both legs, most of the force being generated comes from the leg that is on the loaded side of the bar, delivering the benefit of a single leg movement.
    The result is a fantastic collision of disadvantageous leverage factors that seem to quadruple the weight of the bar, but with proportionate benefits.
    Today I failed at just 70 lbs., and that’s what I like most about this exercise.
    Whether I’m in a place where there is not a lot of weight, an uneven amount of plates, or I just want to crush all the little muscles that hide during conventional lifts, the “Shovel” always comes through.
    This video is unedited and without narration or captions, showing the progression from 35 lbs. until my core failed at 70 lbs.
    Thank you for watching, and much aloha.🌴

    Waouh ! La dissymétrie de la charge accentue encore la difficulté de l'exercice. Ce type est en acier ! Chapeau bas !!!!!
    wow!!! The asymmetry of the load further accentuates the difficulty of the exercise! This guy is made of steel! Hats off!!!

    Still love your videos. I remember years back around 2011 seeing you snatching double 24Kb’s when I first became a trainer and it inspired me to get in to Kb training at the time before they had become popular in the UK. Years later I’m still a trainer and have run many KB classes and still often use them with clients.
    Thankyou, sincerely,. From the Uk

    What people fail to realize is that even if this guy were to tragically pass before 'his time', the amount of quality years in his late 60's and 70's wud be immeasurable...Does anyone really believe, barring bad genes/luck, that this guy won't be thriving in his 80's and maybe 90's?
    He's obviously been on the right track for a long time now...What a bad ass...

      I heard him saying once he only does about 15 minutes of exercise each day. Obviously, since he doesn't have a ton of body fat, his muscles are much more toned.
      I'm pretty sure this man is all natural.

    • @nox_cadit
      @nox_cadit 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Caterpillar_1967 and that's exactly the sus part of it.
      15 min daily and he's that's shredded?? For a guy his age that's REALLY hard to achieve naturally, taking into account his test surely is lower considering the age

    • @nox_cadit
      @nox_cadit 7 місяців тому

      @valdenilsonsousa4142 he's too shredded for a guy his age, even for a younger guy with much more T that is hard to achieve, imagine for a guy his age with naturally lower T than an younger man.

      To maintain the “linkage” necessary to keep the bar level at all times while preventing it from pushing my arms into my legs. If I do this properly, the systemic effect through my core is unlike anything else I can do with such a light weight. Aloha 🤜🤛
