Hi, how you can choose the right lcd screen for a board? I bought a 19 usd lcd 7 inch with 50 pin to replace one from a 7 inch monitor and it I the new screen it seems to be in a different resolution but there is no way in the OSD to re-adjust the new screen to fit the right resolution. I think I just did a bad purchase choice (im dont have electronic repair backgroud or similar) it just for a retropie project
50p controllers can use 40pin raw TTL screens, by ignoring the avdd/vcom/vgh/vgh pins, as the screens have that internally. I found two "50p-rgb" screen to 40pin TTL FPC adapter boards on alliexpress. one had 4 pins to use external booster module. another had the boost converter onboard of course requires 5v supply. so its not possible to passive convert 50pin display to work on 40pin controller (lvds or TTL)

I agree, it's a bit of a mess. That board in the nano pc display is for power and touch. The custom pinout is so they can send 5v for the display and get back the touch info. The displays need a special voltage supplies which the breakout boards create. Good video. :)

I wish you could provide a little bit more low level technical info about these displays and connectors and pinouts other than which matches which board. I am not sure but my guess is the 40 pin is the LVDS interface that is designed to work with Adafruit type of boards that have a realtek RTD266x flat panel controller that converts HDMI to LVDS. And the 50 pin versions could be the TTL (RGB+SYNC). Or perhaps 40 pin can be both and they accept a single VDD and 50 pin require charge pump VGH/VGL/AVDD/VCOM.
correct, 40pin can be lvds protocol or raw RGB TTL, with built in boost circuit (vgl,vgh,avdd,vcom). 50 pin is raw TTL, but requires external boost circuit. so do you want cheap driver (adafruit style) or cheap screen (50pin). the boost circuit on 40pin TTL is located on flex cable in some cases
if i have a 4.3" touch screen that just stays lit on white is there a way i can just buy the front of the touch screen with the 40 pin cable and not have to purchase the circuit board that is behind the lcd panels you are holding? where can i buy those panels just by them selves ? thanks
I am trying to refurbish the touch screen from an Android car radio, it has separate two wires plug for backlight and like a 50 pin or so flat cable. It's a 7" Nice display and I'd like to use iit. The car radio amplifier went out, but the display works, so I pulled it out.

Hey Man! I have a project to buy LCD screens of 15" that can be used by children as a 24/7 school module in villages far away. I want to cost less than $200, use solar power, 12 nice lithium cells, a super tough glass on top of the LCD, and a standard laptop touchpad with cellotape and 3 wires in case we should change the touchpad. The idea is that 3-5 kids can learn from thousands of books for about 10 years until the system breaks. everything is fixed in cheap steel frame and metal-cement housing so it stays in one place. what do you think?

I need information on a project I'm working on. Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a working LG lm x210 without a screen. Ideally, I'd like to attach a screen I have from a Vantron 5081g tablet. It has a 31 pin LCD ribbon connector. I realize not all of the pins are used, I need to know which pins are used & where they go. If that isn't possible, I have 3 other screens, the Samsung sm J100, the Samsung sm J120 & a Motorola xt 1921-8. It's a project specifically trying to see if this can be done. I have a broken tablet lcd N080JCE (8 inch -1920x1200) lcd. I tried getting by a board from AliExpress and it couldn’t drive it properly. I only see horizontal and vertical lines and colors, dont see any images or alphabets, just lines. What does that mean? Is the controller incompatible or the lcd is faulty? Its a 39-pin MIPI , 4 data lanes IPS lcd. I really want to get this lcd working because its a very high quality and good viewing angle lcd panel that i dont want to throw away. What do you suggest?

Dear amigo.. great video explaing your two boards. I am currently working on an LCD display that is part of a Smart Rear View Mirror from Junsun. The board is an Android device with 2 ports for the display. One is a 40 pin and the second of 30 pins which I found it is for the screen digitizer or touch screen capabilities. This device stoped working about 4 months after I bought it and Android keeps booting in cycles stating: Optimizing Application 1 of 1.. it reboots and it goes through the same in an infinite loop. There are no ports for me to connect anything like a keyboard or usb cable for debugging the board. So my intention was to replace the board with a Raspberry Pi 4 or Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W but I cant find a controller that can combine both the connector to the digitizer and the LCD cable and output to a single either hdmi with touch screen or USB type C with touch controls. Do you have any advice based on your experience? the display model is the WTL068601G02-18M and the digitizer part number is WJ-DR68670-v3 FPC.

No you cant, smartphone display connectors are proprietary and very hard to reverse engeneer

Were able to find any more details? It seems to me that the 50 pin interface is TTL (VGA+SYNC) not LVDS. The 40 pins ones may be LVDS.

Hello Sahaj, Do you think its possible to adapt from a 41pin LVDS edp1.4 driver to a 51 pin screen, and still drive it? 4k driver to 4k oled pannel, I'm trying to create something along these lines.
As well, Is it possible that these edp1.4 pinouts (41, 51) are universal or do each manufacturer assign different pins?
