    Great to see this . I don’t think many lime plaster anymore . Shame realy because it’s the best way to plaster walls . Not browning or dot &dab. Lime is the best

      I've always enjoyed floating and skimming in the past and using lime plaster helps the walls to breathe until some tit decide to wallpaper it

    Nice work. I would have liked to see you apply the top coat, sponge float and polish.

      The video was earlier in my UA-cam channel video making experience.
      However, I will be undertaking more lime plastering this year and will be filming the whole show farther than bits.

    Something went wrong with the editing as it's 2x the same footage spliced toghter. It actually should have ended at 11:24

      I will be doing some more lime plastering this year and will give a full step by step demonstration on lime plastering.
      The video you referred to was made when I first started filming on the channel so it's not the best.
      Better now with more experienced in making the videos.

    Thanks for sharing this information! What type of lime are you using in the scratch coat? HNL, Lime Hydrate, or Quicklime?

    i just had to demo a lime plasterd bathroom with 100 yr old brick walls, the lime plaster was stuck like shit on a shovel yet not brittle hard. I was very impressed

    • @lorddust60
      @lorddust60  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes lime mortar/plaster is extremely good for old structures for a few reasons. One is its flexibility that allows movement of the structure as in expansion and shrinkage in warm and cold weather conditions. Also its ability to vent water vapour and moisture through masonry is exelent for solid constructed walls.

    From a decorating point of view I am surprised he didn't remove the skirting boards and architraves.

    • @lorddust60
      @lorddust60  Рік тому

      My client did not want them taken off as he was tight on budget.

    • @KendalMike
      @KendalMike Рік тому +1

      @@lorddust60 But why leave the top architrave in place when the two side pieces were already removed?

    • @leslievincent20
      @leslievincent20 Рік тому

      I know exactly what you mean but being as your down to the brick work, taking off the skirting boards would not cost that much and some would argue that plastering around woodwork or coving costs more in the long run.@@lorddust60

      Make sure In this coat you use plenty of animal hair in it, it could be horse it could be goat; I wouldn’t try anything like cat hair it wouldn’t work, so don’t go picking up cat hairs from around the house 😂
