Not falling for this again. I had a 1973 Topps Dick Butkus on my COMC watch list and I immediately bought before I watched this video. Got to watch out for the Mangini pump with these cards. ;)
Like #32, Franco Harris! Always loved the 73' football. Harris rc!, Ham rc! Very under-rated set if you ask me, tons of great players in this set. Always thought the same with the "rookie card" and Hunter was a good show and his partner was pretty easy on the eyes as well 😁Brings back some great memories watching it with my granny who was a huge Football and Baseball fan and probably inspired me more than my own father with sports. Loved the video and stories told, Thanks for sharing John and happy birthday to the wife, enjoy 👍👍 and ✌out
Hello John, great shwocase. I like a lots the looking off thoses 70's football cards. Thanks you or sharing the cards and some infos about the players. Happy Collecting.
Gave a video like. I didn't realize Ken Stabler was a HOFer. Fun that his nickname was Snake. Reminds me of Jake Plummer being called Jake the Snake. Love Jack Ham, my favorite OLB. Didn't know that about Tom Dempsey, they made a rule after him. So many great cards in the '73 set.
That Butkus is incredible! I didn’t know Topps did horizontal cards in 1973. I collected a bit that year but don’t remember that card. I now have the Lions team set and they’re all vertical cards, I believe. Seeing these cards, whether I remember them all or not, takes me back to fifth grade.
And as I go along through the video, my favorite player who wasn't a Lion - maybe my favorite player, period - Larry Freakin' Csonka - got a horizontal card!!! I may have to pick that up just for fun. I'm typically a team set guy, but that would be a fun card for which to make an exception.
The Larry Csonka card is by far the best looking in this set. Your like me. You love those early action shots. This set had so many. The Mike Phipps and the Bill Kilmer are sweet also.
Jack Ham is actually tied for 3rd for interceptions from a linebacker with 32, behind Don Shinnick and Stan White, and tied with Lee Roy Jordan and Nick Buoniconti...although he did play a few less games than the two he's tied with. Great player, and I love that 1973 set.
Love the ‘73 Namath as well. Maybe your reason is similar to mine in that those old beanie caps bring back great childhood memories. Didn’t we all have those of our favorite team?
Great video John! I love that Franco. VintageGoats slabs are coming soon…Are you coming to the Columbia fairground show on the 28th? If so I’ll give you one then
I really enjoyed this video. Great cards mixed with some personal info. I am always concentrating on the cards you show. Somehow, I finally noticed the display of coins to your right. Have you ever featured them?
It's going to be interesting to see if nick chubb can really ever be great again But they do seem to fixing these players so much better than even 20 years ago.
Nick Chubb is great! They’ve come along way. Doctors ruined Gayle Sayers but Adrian Peterson rushed for over 2000 yards after he had the surgery. It’s way different now. I’m routing for him.
@@MrJmangini I learned a lot about his cards. The really nice short print cards did not really go down in value. But other nice cards but not really rare are down at least half of the value.
Wow, you’ve showed them all except one. A rookie card from that set and Hall of Famer as well. Come on John, I was looking forward to see it throughout the whole video.! You probably have it and just didn’t show it. Defensive player, great last name….
Those are some of my favorite action shots from one fine football set John. I first started collecting around this time and I remember seeing those sweet action shots from actual games and thought they were the best. I was irritated if a player I liked had a stupid, no helmet Sears portrait shot for his card. As you know I lived in Danville, Ca. from ‘75-‘81 & a lot of the Raiders lived in my neighborhood near the Crow Canyon C.C. Mr.Mike Siani also owned the liquor store at the Safeway Shopping Center & we would go there to meet players and get autographs! Ahhh the ‘70’s, what a time to grow up. I was also at the Patriots preseason game in ‘78, my dad had season tickets through his company (Shaklee), where Jack Tatum hit Darrell Stingley and paralyzed him. Great 1973 Topps football show & tell.
Love that set, remember buying packs and opening them as a kid!

Better pick up a Roy Gerela while your there 😁
@@wrigleyregular1926 😆
I have that set also. So cool. I remember meeting Charley Taylor back in 73.
Thank you for a good video. Enjoy hearing the history of the players and specifics. Make Sports Fun Again. Have a great weekend.

Thanks
That's one of the few years I collected football cards. Love the Tom Dempsey and Jim Kick cards.
Thanks for sharing, John. Nice set with a lot of future HO Famers.
Gr8 set John..😍 Love that it's loaded with great players and nice looking photography..😮 Hope your wife and you have a nice time..🥃🎉 Take care..👍❤🔥🤙
Thanks. So far so good!

Thanks for joining me
Great set and so many key RCs
Good luck to you and Rick on the Live tomr. I'll have to catch the replay on Sunday
Great to see those! I clearly remember buying packs of them at a drugstore on my way walking home from school. No idea whatever happened to them.

@billkhan3789 I love that card!
The Butkus card personifies him. Tom Dempsey is inspirational! Old school football!!! My dad was at the undefeated Dolphins Super Bowl.
Wow nice!
I see it this way with OJ, he was a great football player.
The Larry Csonka card is by far the best looking in this set. Your like me. You love those early action shots. This set had so many. The Mike Phipps and the Bill Kilmer are sweet also.
Yes. Love em!
Awesome my friend
Love the '73 set!! It was when I was 10 and I collected the whole set and still have it today in a binder. Thanks for showing it!
I used to get Al Cowlings confused with baseball player Al Cowens.

Good information. Thanks
I’m so stupid. I did a video on Shinnick
I like the stay off my lawn attitude!!!
Yes you do brother!
73 football was the set I bought packs of as a kid.
Nice. The first pack I remember opening was 1973 Topps baseball
Love the ‘73 Namath as well. Maybe your reason is similar to mine in that those old beanie caps bring back great childhood memories. Didn’t we all have those of our favorite team?
Absolutley. Those and the winter mits were a Christmas gift staple!
The horizontal cards tend to look extra awesome.
Great video John! I love that Franco. VintageGoats slabs are coming soon…Are you coming to the Columbia fairground show on the 28th? If so I’ll give you one then
Nice! Are you dealing with Kim Anderson?
@@MrJmangini I have no clue. My dad set it up. We’re printing labels
I like that set a lot. The Franco rookie has always bothered me that his jersey is green.
Green?
I really enjoyed this video. Great cards mixed with some personal info. I am always concentrating on the cards you show. Somehow, I finally noticed the display of coins to your right. Have you ever featured them?
Yes but they are hard to show well on camera. They are the Sweet Caporal pins and discs
@@MrJmangini, I am sure they are spectacular!
The running back for Dallas was Ezikial Elliot
Yea I was trying to think of the one before him. Murray.

It says a lot when a Steeler fan think highly of him 😆
@@MrJmangini when they cheered chubb chubb while he was being taken off of the field it was amazing.

No, I’m sorry you did show it! Shoot, sorry I jumped the gun on you….Jack Youngblood!
Jm...me again....we all know that Arthur Irwin was the 1st infielder to use a glove, but, what secret did he keep to himself?
Hunter it is! Stepfanie Kramer was his hot partner!
She was hot
@@MrJmangini heck yeah!
Sorry l won't be watching the shows 😢
Why not?
They sell Afro wigs….just saying..😂
Oh hell no! I’d be cancelled and driven off social media! No one has a sense of humor anymore.

I would trade it to grow up in any other era. It was perfect.
