  • The Capitol Christmas Tree. The People's Tree. A tree for all Americans, for this tree, each holiday season, comes from a different National Forest. It's a symbol and celebration of public lands as much as it's a symbol and celebration of the holidays. I want to tell you about the People's Tree today - it's history, it's journey from the National Forests of America, it's arrival in the Capitol, and, most importantly, it's significance as a testament to the power of public lands in the United States. Happy Holidays!

    I didn’t know that the White House Christmas Tree lived on the grounds and was just decorated every year. This video provided a lot of interesting info that I didn’t know. Thanks Cameron you do great work.

      Absolutely! I try and cover all aspects of public lands management, even if a lot of my focus is on National Parks. I try and spread it out as much as I can - so much to talk about!

    nice thanks. had time to catch up with a view of my favourite channels. Aidin Robbins did one a little while back about the volcanic fields in Arizona. he briefly mentioned Sunset Crater National Monument. that sounds like a bonkers story of how to make such a thing...

    Any chance you could expand into other National maintained nature preserves such as the Pecos Wilderness in northern NM or the Current River Scenic Waterway in MO? These are examples of large areas of natural beauty that have been set aside to be protected, just as our national parks.

    • @NationalParkDiaries
      @NationalParkDiaries  5 місяців тому

      Yes! My basic rule for video topic is: as long as it's a protected place of some sort, I'll cover it. Most videos end up being about National Parks, but I have a whole host of ideas for other public lands/protected areas content as well. So many stories, so little time!

    Happy Holidays to you and as for the "Christmas TREE",
    Most Monuments are permanent, but this one is transient.
    I wonder how much we're paying each year, wouldn't a
    magnificent manmade tree be better???
    Just another example of Washington's out of control spending.
    Just sayin'
    Cheers,

    what a shame the tree is cut.

  • @zmarko

    How much does all that cost? 😮

    • @NationalParkDiaries
      @NationalParkDiaries  5 місяців тому +2

      A pretty penny lol. I didn't find any specific figures, but I'm sure the cost is considerable. There is a large amount of volunteer effort put into the tree though, which is nice, and also further solidifies the passion people have for public lands.
