- Hunters Road solo adventure.
In this second part adventure to the Zimbabwe episode, I travel from Hwange back into Botswana and attempt to do the Old Hunters Road as a solo trip. A nerve racking experience, with some truly unforgettable moments.
The damaged flooring plays havoc, and I get up close and personal with some bad tempered elephants.
Enjoy this episode.
Thank you to LACIE and Indeflate for their support on this trip.

As a Zimbabwean I would like to thank you for your very honest and positive assesment of Zimbabwe. You have been kind: there are things that need to be fixed and I will do my best as an overlander to raise the issues with Parks and Wildlife. Be safe out there.
Thank you Shumba, I schooled at Esigodini, Falcon college, so I have an understanding, I hope. Glad you found my commentary fair, which rightly so, should be. Good luck on your endeavours and give me a shout if I can help in any way. Mana pools and masvingo in May, I hope. Hoping its a great trip. Zim deserves great exposure on so many special places. Keep well mate and the overlanding spirit alive. 👍
@@4x4ventures_southafrica PE Boy here hated rugby on the concrete pitches at Falcon. Lost every game. Will look out for your content and hopefully hook up along the way.
Jesus Christ! I don’t know if I say you’re so brave or so crazy! Camping alone in the middle of wild animals. Congrats man, your best video so far.
I have been a solo overlander for many years and I know very well that feeling of solitude. The longest solo drive was 45 days. That’s really a lot. It’s a bit like shoes that are to small. At the beginning, it hurts a little. In the end, every step is so hard. Do I like solo overlanding ? No. Definitely no. The problem is that I don’t want to wait for people to join me. They usually never come and you end up doing nothing. I’m not the most sociable person but I do enjoy small groups. Remember that we find safety in number. Being alone at night in the bush or in the jungle is harder than people could think. Am I afraid of wild animals ? Not at all. I’m only afraid of humans. I just don’t want to cross the path of the wrong people, that’s for sure. I was attacked 15 or 20 years ago by road pirates. You never forget this kind of experience. So even if I am mainly a solo overlander, I will join a friendly small group whenever I can. Everything is so much more difficult alone especially when you are in trouble (bogged, accident, mechanical failure,…). Finally, I think that I could go crazy or at least become severely depressed if I would not see anyone for too long. I think this is natural and see no reason to admit it and being ashamed.
Hi Blaise, thank you for your in depth comment and insights on this one. Really amazing story about the road pirates, and yes, 45 days is a long one when alone. Yes, being aware of the possibilities that humans can be a big problem in the wild areas is a very very real threat to wild campers and the overlanding community at large. It is a pity that it is this way, and it is something that I am aware of and share your sentiment. I think safety in numbers, for me, is a very real requirement when doing these trips. Thank you again mate, and Africa is waiting for you. Looking forward to meeting up and sharing an adventure. Keep well and see you at the next one
I agree, most dangerous animals are humans. While I have no "horror story" to share - I second your " I'm only araid of humans". A littel crazy goes a long way....
I have been thinking of solo overlanding cos ya, people never come, but after I read your comment I feel like it will be too much for me, I once had a breakdown between Ghanzi and Ngamiland district, there was no cellphone network, no sign of movement of people, and the only thing that gave me hope was a herd of cattle, when I saw them I thought I was a bit safe because it meant there were few or no lions there, but there were elephants, I was only worried about the ones that can charge and attack for no reason while I was walking for 16km to the nearest village, it was one of the worst experiences I came across, no water, no food and the sun was going down. So maybe I will start with short solo overlanding trips and keep going until I can take long ones, sorry you had to experience that ordeal, people nowdays are predators
@@epicoverlandbw I have a smartphone. You define need some sort of satellite two-way communication. At least a Garmin I teach. Actually I have both. When you travel solo, you easily meet other solo overlanders. Usually we get together and travel for a week or two until we don't have the same goal or direction. But the most important thing, don't let anything or anyone stop you. Go on. Just be prepared. The worse are people who say they will join you and never show up. Waiting for them is a total waste of your life because you cannot rewind your life.
@@mud-dust That is very true, I will probably meet some as I travel
That morning view from the ranger at the 4×4 ventures baobabs was glorious
Absolutely. And even more impressive to sleep under one of these giants. Truly special for me. Glad you enjoy the show
Brilliant!!! One of the best ones by far. Need to do more solo trips, push the boundaries and find new places to go. Well done champ.
Thank you Matthew. I really appreciate your comment and support mate. Yes, more adventures to come, and hopefully some good ones lined up. Thanks again legend 🤙
yet another masterpiece Ryan "Applause!"
As an old Rhodie, I've really enjoyed your videos & they'll be very useful to show my grandson a bit more about my youth which he's interested in. Since arriving in 1948, I lived on my Dad's farm just 5 miles north of Hartley (now Chegutu) where the A5 crosses the Mupfure river. 5 or 6 miles upstream from there was the end of the old Hunters road which if my research is correct was first used by the elephant hunter Henry Hartley whose main base camp was on the banks of the Mfuli (now Mupfure) river. I spent many happy years canoeing/fishing on the river and riding on my horse with 2 large dogs along the Mfuli river in the 50's and early 60's. Note to Ryan, I always wore boots, carried a gun and knew my snakes since a few could kill you in a minute or two though I was quite safe on horseback.
More info here: gw.geneanet.org/aosgene?lang=en&n=hartley&oc=0&p=henry&type=fiche and there you'll find another link called The Tale of Henry Hartley of Thorndale ( his farm 45 miles from Pretoria. Also a very thorough history with maps and pictures all about the old Hunters road can be found here -

Enjoy and many thanks
I do solo trips to Limpopo often. Its a great way to pause and reflect on life.
100% always a great way to unwind and enjoy the simpler things in life.
You were so lost and alone Your buddies were missing. Thanks for the effort you put into your videos..
Ryan just looks at this episode again wow wild wild Hunters road epic
Always enjoy your episodes from the U.S.A.!
Thank you so much for visiting my Zimabawe as you had promised me ....😊
No worries Foxal point. Always great to visit new places, and Zim is one of those places I look forward to re visiting. New places, new roads and new campsites. Magic
You really live the life man!
You just need an Mrs....
Love watching your videos!!!!
Thanks mate, and I have a Mrs. She just isn’t a fan of the wilds mate.
This man living an African dream..
You inspiring alot of us mate..
Thanks Ryan for taking us along on your awesome lone adventure show. I could relate the emotions of fearful excitement you had. I once took a lone, rather impromptu trip from Vic Falls on a road that traces the Zambezi, and went southwards towards the Caprivi tip of Zim in a Mazda Eagle 4x4. Nothing like your well equipped Ford Ranger here! As I advanced into unknown remoteness, an eerie silence engulfed me and made me tremble with fear in broad daylight. The tree-lined road track gradually narrowed and became rougher and rougher, It was becoming clear that I had ventured too much too far, occasionally glimpsing the mighty Zambezi through the thick bushes; whereupon I made a u-turn and retraced my way back to my hotel lodgings. The real thrill for me came when the whole attempt became a memory. I hope to try the real thing in SA or Namibia and perhaps bump into you. Love from Zimbabwe.
I like these episode so much mr Ryan
Thanks Ryan. Very enjoyable to watch. Sorry you had issues with your setup.
Good, honest content. All part of the learning process, but at least you're getting out and doing it! Thoroughly enjoyed the episode...
Glad you enjoyed this one Stephen. Yes, any adventure is always well worth it mate. This one goes down in the books for sure. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for your support bud
Brilliant video Ryan, really enjoyed your it. Totally the right decision to pull the plug on that trip!
Ok I enjoy watching your videos but when you pulled St Louis beer from the fridge I was like "yeah thats my bev" 😀😀 Thank you for bringing us this videos

Great Video Ryan >> Nostalgia deluxe >> Wanna go back to Pandamatenga
Thank you Peter. I know how you feel mate. Every time I edit these trips I just get a massive wave and urgency to get back out there. Some of us just aren't meant to be in the city for one periods of time. I'll see you at the next one 👍
We're here mate! I own my very first car an Opel Astra F 1998....just wish one day , just one day I get something to take me Overlanding 🙂
As usual I love your work mate! Really appreciate the way you're serious about keeping your environment clean..
Love from Zim
Thank you ZimWild. I had an opel astra big boss 1.8 back in the day. Thing was insane to drive. Now I'm overlanding. It can happen, just set the dream and go for it. Thank you for your support and acknowledgement. I really appreciate it mate. Keep well and see you at the next one 👍
Thanks for this cool content
No worried George. Glad you are enjoying the show mate.
Traveling in a group is definitely the answer especially through dangerous wild Country. One needs those extra pairs of
eyes and ears and hands plus someone to share your experiences with!
Great trip Ryan, I enjoyed riding along with you
Thank you for sharing. For me the sounds of the bush at night is the ultimate experience. Nowhere else in the world has the magical sounds of the bushveld at night
Awesome as always......., one day when I'm grown up 😂
Thank you Paul. Appreciate your comment. Get big soonest mate. You will love it
Thanks for honesty and not hiding teething problems that arises sorting out a great rig we all learn with mistakes of other's like you said fix and out you go again.
100% mate. Keeping it real and we are all here to learn. What a privilege I get to share it. Thank you Markus for your support. Have a good one bud 👍
Lovely trip
Awesome adventure
Teavel in a small group with same habits and ethics 3 or 4 vehicles at most
Couldn't agree more. Nail on the head. Thank you Yusuf. Stay well mate
Very informative video Ryan, thanks a lot
Sorry for that damage
Thanks Blessing. Only a pleasure. Keep well and see you at the next one 🤙
I love watching your videos. I guess it takes some guts to be all alone out there in the wilderness. You have my admiration. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I look forward for the next one. Cheers!
Thank you Edward and glad you enjoyed the episodes. Yes, not easy bring out there alone, definitely learnt allot about myself and how I adventure travel solo, that's for sure. See you at the next one and I appreciate the sentiment and kind words. Cheers 👍
Definitely takes guts, arise Sir Ryan.
Hi what an amazing show as a fellow south african living in New Zealand I just love watching your adventures and miss home . I just have 1 comment your trips are in the wild and we want to see out while you drive maybe have a look at pointing the camera in front of you while you talk so we can see what you see instead of just in the car. Keep it up all the way from NZ
Looking forward to,your Gonarezhou video.
Shame about the fridge problem. This was promising to be an awesome adventure. Better luck next time
Ngweshla in the East of Hwange is my fav place in Hwange and Robins Camp area
Okay, thank you Peter. Will have to research those places. Thank you for sharing and hopefully I will get there, one day.
Very nice man
I love your vids
I've gotta go up this gomo 🤣 I wasn't expecting that .... well done mate 🙏
Great content.
Thank you Abegail
Much respect .
One for the books. You are a very talented photographer. We love your work. I also think traveling in a group is better than a solo trip.
Another great one Ryan, the serenity and thrill of travelling solo is the best and it is what I love doing through the deserts in Outback Australia, thankfully we don't have predators here. Four months is my longest solo trip and I was a looney tune by the end of it, so I understand your trepidation about travelling solo.
Awesome Glenn. Good to hear from you mate. Yes, predators changes the game to another level of everything. Four months?? Geez like it, you must have been serial mate. Thank goodness for cold beverages, they definitely make for easier goings. Glad you enjoyed this one Glenn, and a big thanks for the comment and support. Till the next adventure legend 🍺
Congrats on a high class and honest doccie! In the 70's I spent 12 days collecting butterflies in a rainforest, stok siel alleen. So I know what being absolutely alone in the world means. If you think you are a loner you will certainly learn that you need the company of your fellow man.
Hey Mark, thank you for your comment. Really appreciate the kind words. 100% feeling alone and being alone makes you a loner. If you can shake the thoughts from your mind, I think it makes it easier to accept. The wild though as magic as it is, allows for tricks to be played upstairs 🤣 maybe just easier when travelling in a group 🤟
Magnificent capture of the essence of travelling off the beaten paths in wild Africa. The night sounds together with the total darkness and solo, well done and I enjoyed your honesty as always.
Thank you Diane, much appreciated for your comment and support 👍
Great episode . Three vehicle convoys always seem to work well for me .
Yuup, kind of what's been running through my head since I did this trip. Makes sense, and serves a very logical aspect of safety, recovery, strength and cross sharing. I appreciate your feedback and comment. Keep well Richard 🤙
Awesome trip Ryan 👌
Another awesome episode Ryan. So jealous I wasn’t there for the second part of your trip on Hunters. 👍👍
Thank you Bruce. It was really really lekker mate. You would have enjoyed it. Hunters goes in the book for sure. So much I still want to learn about it.
Hoezit bud, absolutely awesome trip bud 👌 wow you had an amazing time all by yourself Top Notch buddy 👍 to answer your question about how I normally travel / Travelling in the boundaries of South Africa it's quite normal for all of us I think, but as soon as you go over borders there's that kind of unsure that keeps coming up in your head, what if this, what if that!!!! So I personally prefer a bit of company, like you, Ed and Chris travels most of the time 👍 Thanks for an absolute awesome video buddy 👍👌👊✌🐺🐾
Thank you Herbert for replying and really good to know. Yes, I agree with you. Ones mind tends to over think things when you are alone, and this is the case with me. A good lesson learnt I reckon. Looking forward to sharing the next one, and yes, I'm with Ed and Chris again. The 3 musketeers will be back and on top form. Keep well and thank you for your support mate 👍
fantastic solo trip
Great episode Ryan, a solo trip has to be done by all true adventurers. Have one planned for Khutse. Nervous even thinking about it!! Camping with friends, I believe, is going to be hard to beat. Will confirm/find out soon. Keep them coming
Good luck and try to enjoy the solitude mate. Khutse is a good one to do solo. Very brave and passop for the lions mate. Definitely going to be a magic adventure Mark. Appreciate your comment and support legend, and yes, couldn’t agree more 🤙
Thanks for sharing your trip. I did my first solo trip in my LR disco4 around 8000km total. I did it same time as kzn riots so pretty tense. Loved it. Was unforgettable. Go well mate!
8000km driving alone?
@@ticherepulewonderlust1047 yeah solo from Cape Town around much of SA excluding KZN because of the riots & looting. Wife flew in and out of Kruger for a week and the rest was solo.
I love your videos, i would have been terrified all alone but you are fearless
🤣🤣🤣🤣 no no no, I was very nervous. But, I always believe in growth and learnings. This was one of the best trips im account of both. Thank you for the kind words Latunah.
@@4x4ventures_southafrica I am thankful for this awesome video, you stayed there for us. I always look forward to your videos
Awesome video Ryan, Hwange is a special place. Look forward to the next episode!
Absolutely, Hwange is very special, and I only scratched a very very small corner of it. I'll be back for sure, and hopefully soon. Thank you Andrew.
Flippen awesome!! Looks so lekker!! Bakgat Episode!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Great stuff. I did my first solo trip Jan 22 to Namibia in my Hilux towing my Imagine Comfortvan. I traveled solo from Windhoek via the C26 to Goanikontes in the moonlandscape, then to Spitskoppe , from there to Brandberg and after that to Twyfelfontein. It was great travelling alone for a week, but it was also nice to meet up with my friends at Torrabay for the next 2 weeks and travel back as a group via Botswana to Lephalale. So to me yes I will travel solo again but it was great having friends on the long hauls . Happy overlanding.
Very lekker bru. Keep it up !
Found your channel now. Nice rig. I have a 3.0tdci 4x4. Been to namibia so far. Still want to do a boviaans and lesotho trip.
My Nat Luna 90 Litre stays in our Everest Trailer on a Straight out Slide .. Keep it simple is the way to go
Ummm, that would only work if the height was level to your hips Peter. The floor of the tray is as high as my diaphragm. A straight pull our slide just wouldn't work, how would skmeone gain access to the inside of the fridge. Great difficulty i reckon. The fridge slide wasnt the issue, but rather a weak floor. Aluminium just isn't strong enough to bear the weight of a drop down fridge slide, and a 96ltr fridge that's loaded. Drop down fridge slide works and is robust, but floor, needed some work. Sorted now though. Thanks Peter, for your POV
Mushi sterek! That mugwagwa looks like it'll test the hardest over-landers... I wonder what the experience would've been had Ed & Chris travelled along. Its tough exploring alone - thats why not many do it. Hope the Ranger is easily/quickly repairable.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mugwagwa. One for the books. It would have been a blast and allot easier if the legends had pulled in for this one. Yuup, tough going, but really glad I did it. Ranger is sorted, but got some body damage on a more recent trip 🤣 shit I need a body shop sponsor now 🤟
@@4x4ventures_southafrica Lolz! If not a body shop, a tank! Strongs mate. Looking forward to whats out next.... as always.
Really appreciate your honesty. So pleased I am not the only one whose mind plays tricks on them, when out in the bush on your own. Awesome trip to watch, thanks so much.
Great video!!
Thank you Vernon
Cool video Ryan! Makes one wants to go on a Solo trip. That said there is a place and time for everything. I think in a group the big part is the memories you share. The moments around the fire etc.
Filming all this catching all these angles solo is very very hard work this is definitely a labor of love . Congratulations on being nervous going on hunters road solo but doing it anyway. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾well done .l was literally laughing at you when you thinking of the predators but am sure looking back now past the fear is an amazing person huddle you crossed . Glad the rats didn’t chow the engine cables😂😂😂l have traveled solo but traveling solo depends on destination.
Ryan matey, you’ve got balls of steel camping solo overnight in the stealth of the night under that baobab tree ! Although, you insist on checking your peripherals , I wouldn’t dare get anywhere near as daring as you…😳!?
Breathtaking as always, can't wait to start going on such drives myself, sending good vibes ❤️ and beautiful energies, It can be fun traveling alone but those quiet moments can feel very lonely.
Thank you Estelle, I appreciate the good vibes and hope you can get out on an adventure sooner than later. Awesome comment and thank you for your support. Stay safe and see you at the next one 👍
Beautiful scenery. I always prefer traveling with mates but I've done a couple of solo trips in the past.
Awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Well done Ryan yet another great video thanks for sharing.
Thank you Garry, much appreciated 🙌
Great content and great courage you have to tackle the hunters road alone . looking forward to more content
what an amazing adventure this footage made me think of visiting my home country Zimbabwe soon thanks mate.
Only a pleasure Tony. Visit soon mate 🤘
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing your story and we like to travel solo. Had a bad experience with another couple traveling with us. 👍🍺
Thank you Gary. Yes, I've heard when it goes bad, it goes really bad. See you at the next one.
Ryan, fantastic footage as usual, love the content, sounds, editing, story telling, everything. Curious about your tattoo though, Torri…09/7/12 obviously important… care to share? Thank you
Solo, every time!
Thanks for a great video Ryan it was very interesting.
Thank you Tony. Always good to hear it. Cheers
You should get infrared motion sensor cameras that run at night around your vehicle - just to see what comes sniffing around during the night.
Yes, so Ed got one and it works like a charm. You would be very very surprised, but that is coming up in one of his episodes, so I'm not going to give anything away. If I could afford it I'd like to get 2 units, but they are expensive mate
Great viewing pleasure. Thanks for the upload. Next time take Ed with you, you won't be so lonely. 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 100%, Ed had other engagements at the time, but, I hear you
In the past years I’ve done solo travels in both Botswana & Namibia. I’ve found that after 3 days I start to need human contact, even if it’s just a server in a coffee shop. Sounds around camp make the hair on your neck stand up at first but keeping a car door open as an “emergency” shelter, always cleaning up after a meal mitigate some of the risks and the others you just have to live with.
Its crazy how human contact is so important to ones mind, especially when in the wild. There's only so much talking to one's self, before one's self begins to think they are going mad. Always great to be in the wild, and looking forward to the next adventure which is in the planning phases already. Cheers mate
@@4x4ventures_southafrica Do you think Hunters Road will be dry enough for solo travel in June ? Your Vid has encouraged me to go to Bots instead of the West Coast after my Damaraland trip.
Hi Mark, yes, June is the winter month, and the road should be dry. We are currently having late rains. How far that stretches I don't know, but June will be dry. It will be very cold, so I'd worry about that as a first place. Always great to inspire and encourage. May I ask, for how long and with how many people? Check in with Mike West from Woodlands Lodge and Bush Campsite. Have a chat with him for all the info regarding the history of hunters Road, and for a place to camp on route. You are going to enjoy it. Something different for sure.
@@4x4ventures_southafrica I’m doing 2 weeks in southern Namibia and then 10 days from Brandberg Lodge up to the Rooi Drom. I need to drop my travel partner off at Windhoek airport and then I have +- 15 days to get back to CT. Originally I was going to cross at Buiterpos turn south and sweet talk my way to Swartpan at Kgalagadi ( I had to give up my days there last year when I pulled foreigners out of trouble). Ther alternate was Baines and Kubu but then I watched your video. Normally I travel alone but this time I’m taking my neighbour with. She was only meant to be with me for 2 weeks ( southern nam ) but petrol prices 😬😬😬😬😬😬
Hey Mark, sounds like an amazing trip mate. I have still to do Namibia, and the Kgalkgadi. Both of which are going to be amazing adventures with great wildlife viewing. Nxai Pans is quite a nice option, and Kubu I would only do for 1 night. There is also the option to go from nxai pan to Kumagha along the boteti, and the travel South to the northern section of the central Kalahari, enter in at Matswre gate and explore Kori camp, Sunday pan and that area. Very wild. Goodluck and enjoy it. It will be something special which ever way you go 👍
Absolutely loved the trip, good wild views in Hwange. Loved the music as well if possible highlight the artists of the music on this trip and the titles of the songs Thank you
I have to admit, after spending most of my life in the wilds, doing it with fellow ouens is better simple for the sharing of memories. These days I am left to doing most of my adventures solo. Maybe I snore too loud. LOL
I can relate. Think I have the same problem, snore too loud, but I have mates that sleep further away 😂😂
Great footage, you can use Marder spray in around the engine and chassis to deter rodents, travelling with some eases the mind slightly especially travelling solo.
Thank you Juan, I'll definitely look for a solve. I also heard excessive amounts of doom helps?? Will look for Marder, thank you for the suggestion. Easing the mind is best served with a cold beverage in hand, but with the anecdote for Bush rats, it will taste better. Appreciate your support Juan
Amazing video again bud! Sorry to see you had to cut the trip short but looking forward to your next one.
Thank you Nolen, it happens mate. Till the next one. See you then 👍
Amazing solo experience, kinda lonely but worth it. Next time convince the guys to come through
Nice one Ryan. I really enjoyed this one!
Thank you Camp Seeker Africa. Glad you enjoyed this one mate and thanks for your support 👍
your video footage is amazing as well as your choice of music
Would be lekker to to join you next time, another great ep Ryan!
100% mate, next time mate. Thought of you and wild camping bud. Much appreciated Chris 🤟
Another enjoyable episode - Thank You! I travel solo as often as possible and look for the elusive balance between trips with family / friends and solo adventures. Have done some epic solo trips in South Africa, Australia,Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the US, with up to 4 or 5 week stretches alone.
My use Prados as my overlanding platform [GX470 in the US], sleep outside in a hamock or on a stretcher under the stars. I do have a ground tent - but it remains packed up 95% of the time.
Similar to your experience, I find the 1st night out the most difficult to fall asleep, but find a rythm soon after. I kayak and fish when feasible, explore and practice my "bush craft" skills.
My set-up is more basic than yours, and I bought my 1st Fridge/Freezer today in anticipation of an upcoming Botswana trip in Jul/Aug this year.
Great work - I alway learn something from every one of your episodes. Hope we can catch up on the trains sometime in the future.
Thank you Hendrik and great to hear from you and your impressive list of solo adventures. Really envious of your endeavours. Would love to meet up mate when we can. Thank you for your support, it is much appreciated legend and here's to your next adventure 🍻
Great, informative video Ryan. As for me, after losing my wife 5 years ago, I travel alone and prefer it. My photography takes a back seat with the rare occasion that I am with others and the pace of which you prefer to travel is not always easy. The Hunters road looks to be a great alternative to taking the tar road and will do that in November perhaps. Find Adventure 4x4 boabab to camp under. Following your videos have really helped in my planning of my 5week Botswana safari with the added bonus of thing to do to my overlanding rig here in Canada. So thanks for that, keep up the great content. Cheers!🍁
Thank you Kevin, and really sad to hear it mate. Yes, not always easy when travelling alone or with people. I think that when travelling alone or with people there are pros and cons that one learns over time, and with that you start to figure out what you prefer and don’t prefer. I have grown accustomed to travelling with people, and as a result find it difficult to travel alone. Enjoy every moment alone or with people, life is too short and our moments count for so much. See you at the next one
One of the best so far,I loved it, travelling alone can be very lonely but rewarding at the same time ,looking forward to more videos, greetings from Botswana
Once again an informative and interesting video. The damage looks expensive, can you modify it so it won't happen again? I got back to Johannesburg this evening after a truly magical Kruger experience. The only comparable experience I have had is when I went to Antarctica with the NZ Navy. A different environment with very different wildlife but Kruger was similar in so many ways. It is unique and lets us experience the world as it was before development. I am truly in awe of Africa. I would love to meet if you are around. I have to go off on Monday for business until Thursday14th then I leave S.A. on the 23rd.
Hey Michael, awesome mate, and thanks for your comment. Yes, Africa is really something different, and glad you got to experience just a really small taste of it in Kruger. There is much much more that awaits us. You are going to have to come back, more often and for longer. The Bush bug bite will get you bud if it hasn't already. Yes, let's hook up mate. If you don't have my number DM me on ryananimation@gmail.com and we can take it from there legend. Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing your story and insights. Sounds next level mate. Cheers
Brilliant stuff. Love how you casually say “Gomo” and carry on without explaining 😂 thank you for visiting Zim. Hopefully all the things you highlighted will be fixed in our generation
Great stuff man,all alone take some guts. When the sun sets and cant see all places at once are very scary.Enjoyed you trip very much.See you on the next.Greetings Lucas.
Hey Lucas, thank you for reaching out. Yes, definitely gets the sense going camping in the wild alone. Glad you enjoyed it and I'll see you at the next one mate.
Yeh we went through the the main camp in Dete on a game drive, it was great but as you say it was very rundown and all the money you pay to go in clearly doesn't make it back into the park. Great video again!
This has been a brilliant solo trip, I loved every bit of it, I was just wishing I was there too. Shame about ur fridge problems. Hope to see you coming for adventures to Gonarezhou National Park soon. Keep up the great overlanding videos.
Also did Gonarezhou, it was an absolute surprise and what a special national park. A true drivers experience. Elephants were a bit grumpy though, but understandable. A very very special place, and I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the park
@@4x4ventures_southafrica oh no, we missed you ☹️🤦♂️🤦♂️, I live in Chiredzi.
Sorry mate, we arrived late at Gonarezhou, and passed Chiredzi at about 6:30pm
@@4x4ventures_southafrica well I hope you a great time Ryan. Hope we going to see some videos of ur gonas trip
Great trip but you are correct. It is nicer with other people. Sorry about your fridge slide.
Thanks man, and yes, agree with your sentiments. Aggggh, no worries about the damage. It was a quick fix by the team over at 4x4 megaworld strijdom park. All sorted and ready for the next big one 👍
Great, enjoyed watching this. As to your question solo or group, I believe in solo, it's the best. May be challenging at times, but works for me.
Awesome video 😁 top tip with the rat worry, mix peppermint oil/extract with water in a spray bottle (the stronger the smell the better) and spray it in and around the engine bay, they hate the smell and won’t go in there.
Axel, mate now that is one that is going to get the full full treatment. Really appreciate your advice and so keen to do this. Now just to find a rat infestation and and watch it work. Thank it would be brilliant to capture it. Thanks for your support mate 👍
@@4x4ventures_southafrica awesome 😎 no worries and sorry about the fridge issues!
All good mate. Everything got sorted a couple days after I got back. The setup is working great now, and already done two trips since. Zero issues, bar one . . . . I'm not on a trip now 🤣
👏👏👏
Did you say Gomo in Shona, l enjoy you trips
🤣🤣 yes, I did
