Hi Mark thank you for the news about Chuck Rogers . My condolences to His wife Debbie.and there kids . I have watched them for years .he used to do all the cutting and deb. did the lifting . they changed it up last year .It makes us all realize our mortality. Stay safe pals .
Rest in peace, Chuck, and my thoughts are with you, Deb. Be strong. Thanks for the news, guys; haven't visited Iron and Oaks for a couple of episodes, so quite a shock. 😞
Hello Lads, like your sawing clips, I am a great fan of yours, viewing how you work and comment what you are doing is very relaxing & entertaining. So, keep on sawing! Greetings from your fan in Austria - Gerhard
Hi Mark, I have found over the years that only two things turn oak blue. Iron and steel. I have found if the tree is growing in ironstone areas that can put blue streaks in the log. I found that. Small nails if there in oak long enough are just rust pockets. I have been watching you since you set up the new mill.
mark i fell asleep while watching your video.the hum of the bus engine and the sawing of the logs is so relaxing and peaceful.and i can always back it up and catch anything i missed.well it is monday 2-27-23 and 73 degrees here in memphis,tn.
I came across one of these sawmills yesterday for sale near me in central Mo. Edminston Sawmill $25,000 Listed 2 days ago in Prairie Home, MO. Way Out of my price range and way too many moving parts for me to keep track of. My high school auto tech class just finished a chainsaw, procut style, mill for me. The second cut on the mill by one of my students on a cedar log, we hit a big wood screw buried in the log. Keep on Booming!
Nails are a lot easier than trying to saw dogs. The dogs don't like it and the bits have a tendency to run off from the dogs and the blade and take some rings with them. Happy Week and BLESSINGS!
Just subscribed and of course liked. Assembled a Woodland Mills HM130 bandsaw over the weekend for use on the farm and small amateur operation but amazing how much we're picking up from watching you guys. Been using a Logosol mill up till now but we were getting work from outside from the get go without looking and now word out we can take upto 16ft by 30" more enquiries. Guess the price of lumber from the big stores might be the answer. Love milling and wish I'd started sooner. All the best from Wales. Lloyd.
Thanks for showing how to change out the teeth! I don’t care what you or I call them, you know the cutting surface! I have a 56 “ blade and it looks like yours but haven’t changed any before! Thanks for your video on them!
Half past ten having supper while watching you guys , then reassemble a vacuum pump bearing collapsed took four hours to disassemble it about an hour to reassemble it then go reinstall it , not good to hit metal with a saw that oak looks nice tomorrow s job go pick up my seed potatoes four sheet of inch marine plywood for my trailer floor it’s doubled in price in two year ,, you guys have a nice day
I can only imagine how nice a deck would be if the decking was 2X10 hardwood......:-) As for hitting nails, surely that could do a lot more to the blade than breaking carbide teeth. I sharpened carbide tipped saw blades for a couple of years at a local furniture company, and blades were destroyed when they contacted metal.
I always thought your videos were "de-vine", now I know it is true. Good catch on the roller crash. I love the moose. I have a program just like that. Those board have got to be heavy. We had rain this morning and heavy snow this afternoon. ✳✳✳✳✳
Sorry to here about Chuck! I would have thought your metal detector would have picked that metal up. Like you said to deep maybe. Stay safe and God bless
Argh , nothing more frustrating hitting nail , I'm an arborist , and when hit nail after sharpen a big saw , like 441, or 660, 25 inch bar then hit nail right away , ugh , not happy, lol
Hey Mark. Great sawing video. So glad that the nails did not do major damage to the teeth and to the saw blade. It is odd that the metal detector did not pick up the nails when you checked it. Is there a way to adjust the detector settings so that it pick up deeper objects? Anyway, nice looking oak planks!
Mark, 2/27/23 I hope you all are ok I seen some bad thunderstorms roll through your area the very same system that rolled through my area. we got a nice thunderstorm here in Northwest Indiana up near Chicago IL.
I had a friend once that picked up a “ pointed butt slab “ about 6 feet long . He let it air dry in his shop , turning it over when it started to curl , and he kept flipping it over until it dried being flat . He made a custom ironing board for it for his wife . He put hinges on the but and screwed it on the wall to fold up when not in use . On the pointed end, he hinged a 2 X 2 leg on it long enough to make it level when folded down . Have you ever thought of saving the butt pieces to sell for ironing board blacks ?
How do I place an order not sure where you are located in Pennsylvania but I need some scaffold plank and I watch to mill them it's a pleasure watching you guys
Thanks for video Mark. Was wondering if you had changed the inserts yet. Good thing you didn’t I guess. Does different metals cause different stains or is it the minerals in the tree?
Why does the sawdust shoot off the top of the log occasionally? Saw that a couple of times in this video. Almost sounded like the engine was laboring a little bit when it happened.
Was wondering if you ever hit metal after using the metal detector, thanks for showing the truth Mark. Generally you hit metal after sharpening or putting new bits in

that's not a bad price for a automatic sawmill if it's in good shape.
Yup gotta love it when that blue starts coming through. Always makes me wonder what I'm going to hit this time!
I laughed at the crook and politician joke.
glad you liked it.
Me too. Lol. Politicians certainly are crooked, wherever you live.

I like it too
That was a cracking joke to start

Hi Mark. Can we visit your mill?

Thought of a new saying for the plaques you make. "that'll work"
Hate to admit it but it took me a few videos to figure out what the sign that said Beware of Dog meant 😂
Thanks for video Mark. Was wondering if you had changed the inserts yet. Good thing you didn’t I guess. Does different metals cause different stains or is it the minerals in the tree?
yes it paid off for waiting to change the bits , iron , steel , ferrous metals will cause stains .
Why does the sawdust shoot off the top of the log occasionally? Saw that a couple of times in this video. Almost sounded like the engine was laboring a little bit when it happened.
Boom !
thank you Whiskey Dale!

I would say over 60 years ago.
Not your doing but you got some good fire starter rejects
yes for sure bad logs = bad lumber.
Love the channel, you guys are great. I also live for closed captioning which some of your vids don’t have. Is it a pain to add them?
thanks Herb , I add them to all of the videos but sometimes they don't show up.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just push the log Kant back on to the log loader roll ahead and reload ? Beats grunting it.
the nose on the log deck runs up hill I tried it a few times and this is easer .
How often do you have to sharpen or change blades on the edger?
The edger only needs sharpened once or twice a year.
