It's not necessarily an emergancy item, but having some instant coffee and honey will boost moral and energy. Not to mention honey is the ultimate survival food with medicinal properties.
In our pharmacy you can get small packets of Bioplus Energy Chews. I have an Accu200 metal pill? container - you know the things I mean. I keep it filled with the Bioplus. Carries 16.
@@KumaBonesPut it in an old toothpaste tube. Cut off the bottom, rinse the hell outta the tube and pour in the honey with the cap on the tube (screw cap NOT POP top!). Glue the bottom shut, turn it a couple of times and glue it again. You can do Bovril/Marmite, peanut butter, all sorts of stuff. And if you need a snack make it a homemade chocolate nut brownie. Keep them individually wrapped in the freezer. In the BOTTOM of the freezer where you can't easily get your greedy mitts on them while you're watching TV. A good chocolate nut brownie raises you from the dead.
I have a rectangular waterproof container that has the majority of my first aid stuff in it. It stays in my EDC backpack and for hunting it goes in my pack. Taped on the inside of the front cover facing out is a brightly colored index card with my name ,. Emergency contact info for my wife and allergies listed on the back. Shelter and first aid are a MUST
I've got that compass. It's not good for hunting because the loud snap to close and open it will spook the deer. During an emergency I guess it wouldn't matter however. So many hunters venture out with little to no wilderness skills.
Awesome pack! I need to prepare myself one similar to this. One critique is that a lot of the items you mentioned you referred to as “not weighing anything.” And I’m not trying to nitpick, but that’s just not true. Ounces are pounds, especially when you’re trekking into the back country with a full pack of everything else you need to hunt. Everything in your pack is necessary, but I’m just trying to bang in the point of making sure everything you have is light AND useful. To be fair, your pack all seems to be both of those. It's a double edged sword. When I go hunting I'm trying to cut weight but still be safe. Normally my shelter option is what suffers. But I have been using a dryad drey hunting saddle and it is a hammock seat thing and I could probably use a space blanket over it to make a passable shelter.
With a little experience(literally just doing it once or twice in any given environment) with the available materials…a space blanket can go a long way. They weigh next to nothing and you can take two. One to supplement the shelter and one to roll up in. I like the SOL ones because they’re flat and are super easy to pack into a pouch like this.
Tourniquet is great for hunters but I see every idiot and there aunt carrying it and having no idea how to operate it and that does more damage than good, so unless you don’t know extremely well what to do… don’t carry it or at least don’t use it yourself. Many people buy expensive tourniquets but forget the best and most used first aid the plaster
Plasters, Quick clotting gauze, and leukotape good for beginners and the average person can learn how to use them without requiring a huge time investment for the training or even learn how to use it through just diligent research. Tourniquet's like you said more damage then good in the hands of someone who has not a clue on how to use them hell a good thing to promote to those who want to add a tourniquet to their first aid kits take stop the bleed course it'll instill confidence and learning never hurt anyone.
As my old RSM used to say. If you’re emergency gear isn’t on your body at all times, you haven’t got it! I’d take it off your pack and have it spread around your pockets or at least attach the pouch to your belt in case you become separated from your pack. Please don’t say that won’t happen 🤗 Good items though. 👍
Something that should have been mentioned with the TQ. Learn how to correctly apply a TQ. Having one and not knowing the correct way to use it is as dangerous as not having one. And don't cheap out, buy the latest Generation C.A.T. TQ, I think it's now 7th Gen. Don't buy a counterfeit, knock-off, look alike get a real C.A.T. from a reputable dealer. Oh and for those who don't know, TQ = Tourniquet.
Been hunting for 45 years and always took the bare minimum with me. Someone always knew where I was just in case. Hunt by myself alot now since my dad died so I try and take what I think I might need if I have to spend a night or two or even more in the woods. Better to have it than to not have it as they say.
Pretty cool kit, you probably can put something like that into a pants cargo pocket, or maybe even attach it to the belt and have it on your body all the time.

I'd suggest that most hunters are already carrying a lot of gear, I'd recommend just saying "add these few items": Headlamp, poncho, 50 foot of 1" T-Rex (Bruteforce tape), 30' bankline, water-filter (Sawyer or lifestraw), lighter and ferro rod.

These puesdo experts occasionally come up with good suggestions, not today! First of all, if you are backpack hunting, anytime you leave your truck on foot, you have to have a first aid kit with trauma supplies (if you carry a firearm, someone could get shot (Dick Cheney)). You have to be prepared to spend the night. So, in your pack, shelter and fire materials, water, food, etc... Survival and navigation equipment is always carried on your body. Your knife, some cordage, fire starting equipment, small high calorie foods, water and purification means, compass and map or GPS, and signaling/communications equipment. It's not Survival if you have your pack, it's camping!
Listen bro, this kit is specifically for people going on a day hunt or maybe 2 and they don’t wanna carry EM equipment with them. I understand that staying a night or 2 in the woods unexpectedly is inconvenient camping unless injured. Most of the students that I have taught just wanna take a survival class so they can carry a small kit like this and have the skills if needed, they’re not bushcrafters or whatever you wanna call it. But you wouldn’t know that because you don’t teach wilderness living skills for a living, you sit in your cubical and go on a big hunt 1 or 2 times a year and because of that you think you’re an expert. So shut up and sit down lil boy, you’re not on my level…..
Good video and kit. Suggestions: cravat for tying up wounds and sprained ankles, tealight candles, a tent stake for sand(its wide and can be used to dig too), a Heetsheet emergency blanket(bigger, tougher, and quieter than mylar), look at the River Country Products poncho($10) (for rain gear, a tarp shelter, and a hot poncho if you get very cold), knit gloves, and add a small pack of tissues. A flat whistle is a nessisity in a survival kit
I don’t like whistles unless it’s a stadium whistle, because you can’t hear them from 100yrds away in thick timber.

I 100% agree, typically I’ve got snacks in my bag for the day if I’m hunting tho.
I should figure out a way to carry honey without it hardening like crazy in the cold, or spilling into the rest of the bag

Im not much of a hunter but definitely gave me some ideas for my fishing bag
I carry mine in a black and white plastic lady's toiletry bag.
I like it Jake. Preparedness is key. Lightweight and effective in a pinch.
