A note of safety is that if it`s needing cleaned so to speak inspect the ammo for bulging I`ve seen it before.

I use brasso , just a dab and it polishes right up , if its real bad try brasso / steel wool (0000)

What about dirt and rusted fingerprints from handling the casings how can I clean them?
CUT the music. use brushes softer than brass, 000 & 0000 steel wool.
If your ammo was ruined, what is the best manner of disposal?
Some gun shops will take it and police stations should take it off your hands also.
Id tke the slug from the casing.with plyers gently. You migh be able to reuse parts if you reload.
