I have a website for this channel finally. The videos can be watched on the website. I am going to add a sign up button for updates in the next couple of days. It is in its infancy, but it is going to be a blog style so that I can add things that I forgot in the video. I am going to be adding all the videos to it in an organized way. I plan on working on it a little every day. Thanks for watching. www.horttube.com
HortTube with Jim Putnam best of luck with this project! Now you’ll be busy inside AND out all summer long! I guess you can work on your blog when it’s a 3-shirt kind of day 😂!
So happy to have found this video Jim! I recently bought 8 Baby Gems to plant in my front yard along the street sidewalk. I was a bit confused about the spacing prior to watching this but now I know, Thank you!!
I have clay soil also. Trust me I could not have dug all those holes in 1 day or even a week. I watch many gardening videos you Jim are reality. Can’t wait to see all the updates.
Yea I did not even try just purchased an auger and got it all done in 2 days. (51 plants) what was nice is you can get really accurate holes becuase the auger will make them exactly where you put the center.
Great surprise, this mid-point between the house and the woodland garden has become my favorite part of your property as well as my own, I've been inspired by your designs and will catch up accordingly, thanks Jim!
WOW. I love this a lot. The sunshine ligustrum, with its similar leaves, but standout color to the box, make a good exclamation point. Cant wait to see the rest of it take shape. What are your digging secrets? The holes looked so perfectly round. Did you use a post hole digger or even an auger? P.s. one day, could you please do a tutorial on tool maintenance? I havea Felco pruner in sad shape and i dont know what to buy to sharpen it nor how to do it if if i bought the right thing. Hate to just buy another pair of felco all the time.
Ooooo Jim. I want to do this one day. Great to see you do yours. You didn't film shaping the Ligustrums, did you? Would love to see that. I will really enjoy the project. Thanks for sharing. Great information.
Have you ever done stepover apple trees? I wanted to put in a low fence around my garden for years, but when I learned I could get a fence from knee high fruit trees...I was elated! It is different for sure but in year 3 now I can see the shape coming thru. Would boxwoods work as an edging for these 2'-3' trees?
Lowes around here: $25. On sale: $5 to $12. *Baby Gem* has a distinguished, dark green leaf, more distinctive than Winter Gem (which i have over a dozen of).

This video is SO HELPFUL! Thank you for creating it.
Sunshine Ligustrum makes me so happy. Finally a nice gold shrub that isn't thorny or invasive.
It is definitely a winner.
Jim, you are my hero. I never buy a plant or dig a bed u til I reference your videos.
Thanks Sara

Very nice. Thank you for the information.
Thanks for watching.
How high are you planning on letting the boxwoods get?
Probably 18 inches. Maybe a little higher. The ones at the corners are going to be slightly larger ball shapes
About how long does it take for the gem boxwoods to grow into each other?
