So the video was about a bomb capable of wiping out life on earth that actually never existed and with an ending like "who knows" and "everyone should decide for themselves" - Man this was the most fascinating 'nothing' i watched in a long time. Although the transition from the bomb theme to the game was phenomenally smooth, I give you 5stars for that XD
Also remember the thumbnail supposedly compares it to a 747 in size. Apparently these magical cobalt bombs are 800 meters long. Cobalt bombs are literally just a dirtier nuclear bomb that extends the lifetime of threatening radiation a little bit. An analogy for this bomb concept is imagine they invent a new fuel for cars, but if the gas station explodes it burns for longer. Who cares how long it burns for, the problem is the gas station exploding in the first place.
To be fair they could very well exist, we just don’t know about them because government’s keep secrets. I would bet a lot of money that North Korea has them.

So, I was right- cobalt having an atomic weight of 58.9332 or 59, when bombarded with neutrons, becomes radioactive cobalt. Just 1 cobalt bomb can take away 1/8th of earth's atmosphere. What I was wrong about was it being naturally occurring cobalt prior to detonation. But of course, The detonation corrects that oversight. I thought that Neutron bombs were the worst if we had them. But fortunately, these are only theories unless someone has created one keeping it under reps.
Neutron bombs at least would make some sense tactically... They leave the area habitable and minimize collateral environmental damage that could come back to bite the attacker. These AT BEST make their conquest completely unusable, scorched earth doesn't even come close to the reality of what they would do, and at worst they contaminate the attacker's land as well AND threaten the habitability of the entire planet to an extent orders of magnitude more than regular nuclear weapons ever could...
But, when countries are already making policy on a principle of peace through threat of Mutual Assured Destruction, what is a weapon like this really? Just another way to assure that destruction, so yeah, I couldn't put it past someone.

@jason youngmaen Neutron bombs, yes... little range, and the idea is to use them tactically, kill the people and not cause much collateral damage or residual radiation... Those sort of make sense for people to make because there is a tactical use.
Cobalt bombs, no... They have the same range and destructive power as any other weapon, even the worst ones, just seeded with the cobalt so that it leaves the entire area uninhabitable for over a century instead of years, and the fallout can contaminate areas and make them deadly at a range much farther than the same size weapon without cobalt in it. I can't see ANY practical use for these. It would be too risky to use, but countries' nuclear policy has been insane already, so I wouldn't put it past someone to make one just for the fear factor... to make that mutual assured destruction a little more assured...

Cladding a bomb with Strontium, though, produces a much greater radiological hazard. Not only does Strontium-90 have a much longer half-life, contaminating the area for a significantly longer period, strontium is biologically similar to calcium, being taken up by the body and deposited in bones, where it remains in the body to cause cancer, rendering exposure to contaminated areas more hazardous.
@@seanmalloy7249 Longer halflife would mean a weaker source, so you wouldn't necessarily be dying as fast or getting as much direct exposure right away from just being in the area of the same amount, but yeah, the fact it can get absorbed and stored in the body so readily would make it very bad in its own way. You'd be more likely to keep getting exposed even after leaving the area and decontaminating.
