I've yet to find anything else that is as complete as your online woodworking school - I've recommended it to so many and even a few experienced woodworkers say they've learned something new from you! - Keep up this great work (you've helped me find my passion for woodworking and made the entry into the craft a lot less daunting!) Always good to see your work :) Instead of threaded inserts I've had great success putting the threads straight into the timber. I used a tapping drill size then used the bolt (with a small amount of wax) to form the threads. You can use a cutting tap but I found the results weren't quite as good. James wright did a video on it with interesting results comparing inserts and wood thread, give it a try and see what you find :) And if Rob reads this, tell Matt that testing is a great way of procrastinating :D
Yea I've seen a few comments regarding this! Will have to take a look. I guess the main thing I'm looking for is the ability to loosen and retighten without risk of stripping the threads.

There's a guy on YT who makes every kind of tests about woodworking. Turned out insert threads aren't that strong.
The main consideration is if it is fit for purpose.
Yes but these inserts will be in sheer. If there is a danger of pullout, you might be pulling those runners in ways they were not meant to go.
Interestingly, WoodcraftBySuman actually proved that threaded inserts are *weaker* than pure wood threads. Who would have thought?
