Sophia Gubaidulina - Introitus for piano and orchestra (1978) (Score)

Sofia Asgatovna Gubaidulina (Софи́я Асгáтовна Губaйду́лина/София Әсгать кызы Гобәйдуллина) is a Soviet-Russian composer, and one of the most prominent living composers of contemporary classical music. Her works are characterized by affection to religious connection, which is expressed through harmonies, percussion, as well as utilization of balance through the Fibonacci sequence and Golden ratio.
This work is one of the earlier works of Gubaidulina (just like most of her piano works), and it is scored for piano and a chamber orchestra of Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, 6 Violins 1, 4 Violins 2, 4 Violas, 3 Cellos, and Bass. (Like a lot of her works) The title has a religious connotation, of being the “introitus” of a mass (followed by the “Offertorium”).
