FILM DESCRIPTION:
The space family Robinson is on a journey to Alpha Prime in the hopes of establishing a colony there and thereby saving humanity from extinction. Their plans are foiled by the evil Dr. Smith (Gary Oldman) and they find themselves curiously enough, lost in space.

My favorite role of his❤ didn’t appreciate him much but this role- the scientist who becomes a survivor who inevitably realizes he must be a father and family man first…touching. I’m so sorry he passed. RIP Mr. Hurt. Thank you for the memories, smiles and laughter. You are missed

It's also my favorite scene. It has a perfect combination of beautiful feelings, brief reunion, time travel, and good effects and sound. The movie in general is very good.
As kids, we cried because we all wish we have a father in our lives.
As adult, this scene still makes a man cried.

The music in this scene helps make it my favorite scene in this movie. It's just so triumphant and emotional. Even the people in the commentary decided to keep quiet so we viewers can listen to it, especially because they actually removed the audio from this scene so we could only hear the music.

If it's underrated, then it's not by much.
It's really wasn't that good of a movie. Don't let the craptastic nature of modern movies give you too rose-tinted glasses on the past.
This movie is very cheesy but I still like it anyway.

@@Dennis_Reynolds_Golden_God The jest was lost in translation, I have no idea who did the acting or their understanding of what they were making. I am just joking around the absurdity of the situation. what you mentioned would makes sense from a budget/time management standpoint, as Gary Oldman was already spending time in the recording booth for his lines. Personally I heard Will Hurt's voice in the lines but I don't know for sure. All I know for sure is the actor was pissed when he saw the film. apparently he wasn't doing a super British voice either.

Because programming the portal for a physically-distant and long-ago destination probably takes a lot longer than for one just a few minutes ago, and practically within line-of-sight.
Go back to 1912, stop WWI, give solar panels, carbon filters & stuff to the people of Earth. Stop ecological collapse before it happens in the first place. Problem solved.
@@epaminon6196 If only it were that simple. You'd need all of the other technologies, and knowledge to make the things. If you want a cleaner planet, prevent the formation of OPEC, stop industry affecting world governments, prevent the communist revolutions of Russia and China and make them democratic instead, promote nuclear as the cleaner fuel, which would massively cut carbon emissions. Develop cleaner, better nuclear tech so we have thorium reactors decades earlier. Find a way to make electric cars cheaper.

Sending the father back to be with his family is really selfish and risky. Go to earth and warn your family prior to launch would be the smart move, you could save your family and earth in the process.
I understand why that should’ve been it, but you have to understand what Will was thinking here. If he went to warn everyone on Earth, he would forever feel guilty leaving his father behind as the portal closes behind him, leaving him to die. Plus, he needed John to go through so the promise of coming back would be kept. Will needed John to go to his younger self to know how much his father loved him.
Its' stated in the movie that any planet focused on by the time machine is damaged by it. The reason the planet was falling apart was because of the machine's energies. If he used it to go back to Earth he'd endanger Earth
