Although I've always played with Caliban from time to time even before the rework, I am glad to see the reinvigorated interest in builds and gameplay. Thanks for the builds Morning.
Only problem I have with him is that the summoned sentients don't scale in levels, I get it would be silly if they did scaling damage but at least they should be able to take a few hits at high levels
@@modernprophet5942 SP star chart you shouldn't have any problems, they do start dying in Circuit, etc. however. I haven't tried taking Caliban to the very high levels/cap, but I would assume his summons become ineffective (due to dying in one hit) as soon as enemy levels get into the early thousands. I was already having to recast his 3 frequently to replace casualties by level 400-700, which is as far into Circuit as I've taken Caliban.
@@TinkyTheCat out of curiosity how much power strength are you running? Because their hp scales 1-1 with enemy type conculysts I'm asking because I take Caliban that high pretty frequently so I haven't really noticed. Also level cap is a different animal lmao At that point youd be better off subsuming something over your 3 for better survivability
@@modernprophet5942 A bit above 200% for full armor strip on his 4. I think at that strength his minions are equivalent to level 260ish enemies? (iirc they're summoned at level 71, but with attack, hp, etc. being multiplied by about 4.) They only need to survive 45-60 seconds, so I don't notice them taking casualties until enemies begin to spawn at more than double their equivalent level. They aren't rendered useless immediately, but since enemy levels start to scale up faster, it's probably not many more rounds before they'd be getting one-shot.
Btw I would aim fusion strike at the ground because the the laser has infinite body punchthrough but it will leave the aoe lingering defense strip wherever it impacts a solid object
I run a Oberon helminth build with smite for calaban with five yellow crystals and I use speed drift mod for non stop casting. It's a fun build where I'm spamming abilities 1 and 2.
Morning making Monday morning better 👍 One thing, if strength isn't all that helpful past a point, why blind rage? Sure it doubles your gains in energy, but it also doubles your costs and thus you run flow for a bigger pool, and it devalues every other source of energy in the game. Wouldn't it be better to run molt augmented (assuming it hits the 100% strip breakpoint) and save _two_ mod slots?
So the extra strength is pretty much just for greeding on helminth and the shield regen, completely unnecessary but sometimes its nice to greed a bit xD
It does scale damage vulnerability on sentient wrath as well. I literally run max strength with augmented madurai and 2 tau strength shards because why not lmfao
I've seen some of my clan mates running a caliban build with Magistat incarnon. They also use nourish but constantly use heavy attack to basically one shot everything. They carried my ass hard in high lvl SP cascade
Arcane effiencie severely underrated IMO i went for less strength, just enough to armor strip, same range mods, energy nexus and whatever in the d polarity and arcane aegis. i hate low duration on nourish, Dear god 30-40 seconds is low. auger (duration)+ arcane eff. is really nice
Yea it's really good, its one of the main arcanes I use on frames when doing level cap stuff instead of augmented, yea that build seems great! for me I don't mind the low duration nourish too much but I get you, more duration always good! :)
razor gyre regenerating a surplus energy must be a bug. if you go to abilities > tips >3rd tab it says "25% per enemy hit, up to a maximum of 100%", so its not supposed to give you more energy back than you spent. (i hope they fix that)
It's working just as how it says, you refund energy Everytime you hit an enemy up to 100%, that is your full energy bar, it's not a bug. so if have 50 energy and hit enough enemies u will gain energy per enemy up to 100% which is your full energy bar, not just refund the 50 you spent.
@@josmith4832hmmm, I kinda disagree here, at least because how it’s worded. Also, we can never regen more than what our max energy is, so it stating that to us for no reason seems out of place too. And, since it clarifies 25% of energy Cost of ability, up to 100%, it doesn’t make sense for them to use 2 different percents from 2 different things in the same sentence without clarifying this. I do hope this is intended and they just forgot to change the tool tip though.
@@abyssphantom6786 I believe this is intended, as the energy regen functions exactly the same as Nidus's 1st ability, just with some weird wording in the tooltip.
I saw a good idea for a build yesterday, where you switch Caliban's second ability for Nourish (Grendel's) then use it while your 6-7 summons are out. They will get the effect of Nourish as well, so once they get all the aggro, you'll see a massive amount of viral procs.
2:54 this is false on so many levels. First: its supposed to be capped at 100%, so you cant actually get out more energy than you spend. That it currently works might just be a bug. (source: the tips) Second: since the ratio of energy cost between all your abilities always stays the same, this is a stupid tactic even on Nidus. This could only ever do anything if you have a drain ability (because it scales with duration) or are using Quick Thinking. Note that neither of these frames has a Drain ability, and Nidus cant use Quick Thinking. Third: other sources of energy gain stay the same. You are diminishing the effect of energy orbs and Energy Generator by reducing your efficiency. Fourth: you likely dont even have enough energy max to store all that energy. I really wish people would stop repeating this „tip“. Negative efficiency does nothing for you. All you get is the power strength from Blind Rage while reducing the impact of its downside.
it's not even false on one level, 1. It's not supposed to be capped, until it is, I am taking this as it seems to be intended( and if they do change this in future, it is an awful change) 2. The ration is the same, thats why i mention....that the ratio is the same? 3. you do not diminish the effect at all, nor do you enhance it, meaning efficiency means very little due to you being able to regain energy at any time 4. You dont need insane energy stores, the point of it is that you can quickly top up your energy. (your last point) the point that efficiency has very little effect on caliban is an important note, you even said it "Negative efficiency does nothing for you" thats correct, and it also has zero downside, THAT is why it is basically best in slot, infinite energy means no downside to efficiency drains, its really not that hard to understand
@@morning8590 I'm just saying, the tips read "up to 100%". Then again, the shield recharge was also supposed to be limited to the Summolyst (as per Pablo's video) and it didnt ship like that. You diminish the effect of energy orbs etc relative to the cost of your abilities. You need more orbs per cast. This increases the risks involved with the energy management. That is a downside worth considering. You said that Blind Rage is basically mandatory, which implies negative efficiency is desirable. I've heard this far too often when it comes to Nidus builds. You could also just explain whats actually going on. You can just as easily build Caliban (or Nidus) with positive efficiency.
Please dear god just test sentient wrath LOS. I’m so sick of everyone saying it doesn’t have LOS check. I tested it in simulacrum and it very clearly misses many enemies if you are behind cover. They either quietly changed it or it is a bug
I was going comment the exact same thing, I could tell after the rework that’s he’s 2 had LOS changes. Imo it’s not horrible but it’s definitely inconsistent sometimes.

I'm glad they managed to rework him without totally changing his identity. I'd say that they actually made him fit the Sentient theme even better.
