Science in a Golden Age - Pioneers of Engineering: Al-Jazari and the Banu Musa
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 лип 2024
- From the Iraqi Banu Musa brothers of the 9th century to the Andalusian engineer Abbas Ibn Firnas, to Al-Jazari who lived and worked in the 12th century - Jim Al-Khalili guides us through the work of the engineers and innovators of the Golden Age of science (9th - 14th centuries).
He looks at state-of-the-art robotic engineering and studies the history of early automatic machines. He unpicks the engineering principles behind the incredible trick devices of the Banu Musa brothers in the 9th century, and is shown a modern reconstruction of their ingenious ‘flute that plays itself’. In Istanbul, Jim is shown the intricate clocks and sophisticated water pumps designed by 12th century engineer Al-Jazari. And he analyses the claims made of Abbas Ibn Firnas - who supposedly managed to get airborne all the way back in the 9th century.

This is why Al-Jazeera is unique and outstanding media channel.

a British Muslim or French Muslim does make sense if you say they are Arab because they are Muslim, similarily, Ibn Aljazari was a Kurdish inventor in the period of Ayubian empire in the territory of Botan.and He was an islamic inventor but he was not arab.

Don't you know Greeks,Christians and Atheists are the pioneers of science, engineering and technology. Have you red any knowledge(law, theory or hypothesis) given by any Islamic person.

But that's not the subject in this video.

@Troll Hunter
The question is WHO brought about different science writings from the ANCIENT civilizations around Baghdad/a civilized center of authority so the amalgam of which would converge to what we know today as THE golden age..?!!??
Plz don't be ignorant. Do research.
We get many great scientists from Islamic Golden Age including the father of optics, the father of Algebra and many others.

IPA: [ældʒæzæriː]) was an Arab[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Muslim polymath: a scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, artisan, artist and mathematician. He is best known for writing The Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices(Arabic: كتاب في معرفة الحيل الهندسية, romanized: Kitab fi ma'rifat al-hiyal al-handasiya, lit. 'Book in knowledge of engineering tricks') in 1206, where he described 100 mechanical devices, some 80 of which are trick vessels of various kinds, along with instructions on how to construct them.[11]
But it was inside Islamic Golden Age. Whether you like it or not, this is the truth.
Btw, this series was hosted by Jim Al-khalil, who is an atheist.
