In the 70’s this was one of my all time favorites. Vocals by Lenny Zakatek and I love the lead guitar work. A well-crafted, huge hit for Alan Parsons- one of the most talented artist/producer in the biz.
He was a Hall of Famer in the studio and could surprise when front and center. Great stuff this man has been involved with both in his stellar career and just having a hand in those great albums, he'll be forever remembered. Try Eye in the Sky for more Musical magic! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Alan Parsons is a prime example of what a truly talented Producer can do for an album. He was a producer for the Beatles and on Dark Side of the Moon. I saw an interview with Al Stewart who stated that he originally had no plans for a Saxophone on Year Of The Cat, but his producer, Alan Parsons, insisted it would work. Next time try something from "Tales of Mystery and Imagination"
Just what you mentioned should blow a few minds, to be involved with both Abbey Road and Dark Side of the Moon is almost beyond belief. People who really investigate those albums will come across his name forever!
From "Tales..," I would recommend "(The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether." But all of the songs of that album put together a brilliant interpretation of Poe's written works.
He was an intern during Dark Side. I'd thought the same until I listened to an interview and when asked if he was a full fledged producer for that he'd replied they'd be having the interview on a yacht 😂
Alan Parson was the engineer on The Beatles albums Abbey Road and Let It Be. Also for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. He's been referred to as "the fifth Beatle". He was a regular at Abbey Road Studios.
We are exaggerating considering Alan Parson so important, just reading what engineers said about him you will admit that he was just a young guy who couldn't decide anything and it's fair enough... After that he became very prolific and very able to do something great, I grew up listening Alan Parson Project
Angela, this is a gem from the very early 80s which rarely gets any plays these days. It was all over the radio back then. Alan Parsons was this mysterious group with no major.stars but put out a string of intelligent pop songs back then. I call them the pop Pink Floyd.
Stix was an all American band while Allan Parsons Project was a British pieced together act who never toured like Steely Dan. I remember hearing this song when it first came on radio while I was on my way to afternoon kindergarten in 1980. It took almost 30 years to find out who the band was and all these other songs that I heard constantly as a small child that were by this same band
Great pick Gordon. My lovely Angela really enjoyed the chair dancing. 😍 Next from APP you should do their songs Doctor Tarr And Professor Fether and To One In Paradise. You will put both in your phone! 👍🙏✌️❤️
What I was gonna say has already been said in the comments below Alan Parsons is so talented many bands like Pink Floyd and Supertramp and many others ask him to collaborate in producing their albums ! He has a huge catalog , A lot of songs from the 70s and all the way into the 80s where there sound changed up a little bit keeping up with the times ! "I wouldn't wanna be like you" and 'Don't answer me' and ' Time' ... And if you're looking for a really sad ballad 'Old and Wise' Such a beautiful song !
There is no way to get wrong with Alan Parsons Project, I mean, in any record he did produce, for his own band or for example, The Pink Floyd band monster record The Dark side of the Moon from 1973. This particular song shows the perfect vocal, instruments performance balance, a magic sound in every track. "Time", is another fantastic song from this 1981 "The Turn of the Friendly Card" album, so please, don`t miss it. I Love to see you dance along with this 80's classics master pieces of music. Thanks Angela, take care.
I don't think any artist has combined rock, synth and full orchestration better than Alan Parsons. His music was part of the soundtrack of my youth. I defy anyone to sit still whilst playing 'Hyper Gamma Spaces' loud on their car stereo as they cruise around (guilty... LOVED doing that as a kid!). Or try holding back tears listening to 'Old and Wise' or 'Brother Up in Heaven'. 'Silence and I' and 'Oh Life (There Must Be More)' are EPIC songs... almost mini-soundtracks. Then there are wondrous instrumentals that start with a single, repetitive sound that slowly builds and takes you on journeys like 'I Robot', 'Lucifer', 'Apollo', 'In The Lap of Gods' and 'The Gold Bug'. Hopefully you will try a deep dig into the incredible Alan Parsons library. Glad you appreciate what you heard.
The song is from the"Turn of a Friendly Card" album (1980) which preceded Eye in the Sky. APP has a interesting catalog including some hits Time, Eye in the Sky, Damned if I Do and others as well as some Great album cuts like Old and Wise and Lucifer. A favorite of mine from that era. I can see a a bit of Styx maybe here, they were contemporaries and both had Prog Rock leanings.
This song was included on the Eye in the Sky album, which is amazing. I don’t know what they were doing with that section in the middle, between the song, and the instrumentals. Almost like a movie soundtrack background sounds 🤷♂️
The Alan Parsons Project's 2nd album -- I Robot [ 1977 ] -- is a great one. Not a poor song on it. A good one to listen to from this iconic album due to it being rather short and guitar solo-y is "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You." But again -- every song is good.
Thank you Angela, Alan Parsons is a great band, I like a lot of their songs. Alan produced the Dark Side Of The Moon for Pink Floyd. He's got great ears. I wonder since you like Styx, have you heard of "Damn Yankees"? Tommy Shaw from Styx, Jack Blades from Night Ranger, Ted Nudgent and an awesome drummer Michael Cartellone. They're really a great band. Worth a listen.
The real mastermind and creative head behind the APP was the late Eric Woolfson !! Composer, arranger of this studio project !!! The core band actually for all those records between about 1975 and 1985 were: David Paton (bass, vocals), Ian Bairnson (all guitars), Stuart Elliott (drums), different singers like Woolfson himself, Paton, Chris Rainbow, Colin Blunstone (Zombies) and ,like in this song too, Lenny Zakatek !!! This specific line-up got only one single live concert: in 1990 in Belgium, see UA-cam video !. "Games people play" was one of my favorite songs of the APP.
Lenny Zakatek, the lead singer here for Alan Parsons was also one of the lead singers for Gonzalez. Haven't Stopped Dancing Yet was a huge club favorite 🔥🔥
I really dig this tune! It's very nocturnal and creepy! The only other tune I know by them is Eye In The Sky which is also very cool and groovy! The instrumental segment makes me think of Alice In Wonderland falling into the rabbit hole, or Dorothy going down The Yellow Brick Road! Curioser and curioser!
This one was sung by Lenny Zakatek, who was one of Parsons' core group of people. You should give a listen to one sung by Eric Woolfson, who was the co-writer of the APP's work. One of my favorites would be 'The Traveler (Days Are Numbers)'.
You are partially right on what this song means--but the real meaning is about parents growing old, the children have grown up and made lives of their own and forget about their parents who are left to fend for themselves, and the world has no more use for the elderly! Also, the parents have stayed together for the sake of the kids now they don't have any reason to stay together anymore so it's a song of divorce at an old age to be free to do what they want but there are just too many games being played on every side of the fence!
Tales of Mystery and Imagination and I Robot are their most groundbreaking and imaginative albums. This one is a bit more mainstream pop and, in my opinion, not truly representative of their talents.
In the 70’s this was one of my all time favorites. Vocals by Lenny Zakatek and I love the lead guitar work. A well-crafted, huge hit for Alan Parsons- one of the most talented artist/producer in the biz.
'Turn of a Friendly Card' is a fantastic album. Not a bad song on it. Worth a listen front to back.
My favorite Alan Parsons album...among a slew of great albums.
"I-Robot" and "Eve" are equally great.
I like this song better now, than when it first came out!
Same
Glad you are playing some app. Standing on higher ground and eye in the sky are also good.
He was a Hall of Famer in the studio and could surprise when front and center. Great stuff this man has been involved with both in his stellar career and just having a hand in those great albums, he'll be forever remembered. Try Eye in the Sky for more Musical magic! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

One of the best sax parts of all time. Cuts right through after the guitar solo.
Both Trevor Horn and Tony Mansfield could totally transform an album with their amazing producing skills, similar to Alan Parsons.
He was an intern during Dark Side.
I'd thought the same until I listened to an interview and when asked if he was a full fledged producer for that he'd replied they'd be having the interview on a yacht 😂
Without a doubt, The Alan Parsons Project marked a milestone in the history of eighties music. "Time" is also a good hit.
Alan Parson was the engineer on The Beatles albums Abbey Road and Let It Be. Also for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.
He's been referred to as "the fifth Beatle". He was a regular at Abbey Road Studios.
And all this time I thought George Martin was the fifth Beatle.
Alan Parson was just a simple assistant at Abbey Road, he was too young to decide anything....

There are more 5th Beatles than there are Beatles.

Great song! Enjoyed this!! Thank you Angela! 😅
👍 another one is “I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You” just a great song!!
i love that song!
Yes, amazing song! 👍🏻

I love you and your reacts. This is one of my top 3 favorite A.P.P. songs. Time and Sirius are also great listens.
Amazing song! Wow they do NOT make music like this anymore 😢

This song is definitely a jam
Great reaction as usual, Angela. 😊😎 Your next APP reaction should be "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You".
This is a great song choices and pick!! I wish more followers of yours gave great effort and thought in their picks!!! Great great song!!🎶🔥
Kind of forgot about this song but what a great pic great Jam as people for sure are a trip!!!

I feel the same way. Seems like this group strived for a sleek, modern sound. I find their subject matter kinda quirky, in a good way.
Actually it's from their Turn Of A Friendly Card album.
@@MauricioDelaRosa-ue9ut yeah, I didn’t look it up, and only remembered the one album. Forgot about that one

Brings back memories, I was 17 When this came out
Psychobabble is my favourite.
This was my jam back in 1980! I would have been 11.
I have memories of being an eleven year old kid waiting for this song to come up on my AM radio.
The beginning reminds me of The Who's song, "Who Are You".

A great man
Nice Person to Parson🎉
Just an observation: this cut has twice the likes and views than the other two, which are good songs. Guess the people love their APP (like me).
Yes! And yet most reactors ignore them. Same happens with Carly Simon. Everyone views and likes, then she disappears from the reactors again.
@@shanedesselle2590Have you recently searched here on YT ‘reaction to Carly Simon’? There are a lot of reactions to her discography. ✌🏽

And then Games People Play by the Spinners! lol (all different but great in their own way!).

“Eye In The Sky” is the only song I know by TAPP. “Games People Play” is cool but, for me, “Eye In The Sky” is the better song. It transports you. ✌🏽
( not related to this song ) Suggestion: Siouxsie and the Banshees "the Killing Jar" ( album version )
