I am 4 weeks post op and I just found your channel. I've been struggling with my gap, but watching your videos today have really helped my confidence. Thank you for posting your journey. I dont feel so alone now. You are appreciated!!
I am so so glad it has helped you in some way, that’s all I hoped for with these videos and it’s doing some good… how are you going with everything now?
Oh man u got me cracking when you mentioned the story about the tooth not touching and swallowing noodles 🤣...I am looking to get the same surgery soon. loved your videos, helpful to what about to experience. thank you!
I just had my SARPE surgery on 9/27. I can relate to every single thing you said lol it’s so funny because the sounds are the same lol and yes the water flosser is the game changer. I realized I need a wireless one so i can bring it to work or else I’ll feel gross all day lol I look forward to getting my braces on too. Best of luck with your journey.
Priscilla Lorenzo Totally! I’m keen on getting one too - I work at a restaurant so customer service has never been more fun 😂 How are you finding the turns?
Anish Dev the turns don’t hurt at the moment I do them but the pressure is uncomfortable afterwards. I see my orthodontist again in about another week and a half and I have to turn it two times a day until then.
This video was ao comforting to me and really helped me feel like I know what to expect, i am getting sarpe surgery in about 6 weeks, i will have 2 teeth removed in the surgery and have braces put on my front teeth to attach a chain to pull down my two canines which are stuck inside the upper jaw, I am just a teenager and i have no parent so i have been scared for being alone after but i feel better now from seeing your video i can prepare myself mentally
Now what I am spectacularly worried for is that after my sarpe, maybe in 17 months the surgeon wants me to have a more severe double jaw surgery with the whole mouth wired after and I have to then take care of my self for eating and pain relief i am so scared, especially since my boyfriend wants me to have a job immediately after my sarpe and i am worried of embarrassment from going to a job interview and being on pain medication, having a speech impediment, eating in front of co-workers, how much i will be showered with clean clothes while also recovering from these surgeries to me is very overwhelming to imagine, but of course it is true if i dont begin working immediately after sarpe surgery then i will not have money in time for double jaw surgery,, wish me luck! At least my cat 🐈⬛ will be here to make sure I am happy and not too lonely, I just hope i dont forget to feed her or she might eat me!! 😢🤣
I’m so glad it helped you manage your expectations on this journey! The worst is the unknown, because we always think of the worst case scenario 😂 I think the best way is to ask your ortho, what is the ideal outcome of the first surgery? Ultimately he won’t be able to tell you exactly what will happen, after all each body reacts differently - but he might give you an indication of how much better it would be even with just the first surgery - like in my situation my orthodontist mentioned that a second surgery would be good to “perfect” it but honestly the first surgery was so good I didn’t think I even needed a second, so I opted not to proceed.
Anish Dev thanks. Still at consults. I go and see the oral surgeon in two weeks. Everyone, dentist and orthodontics, have been consistent in what I need. After I see the surgeon I go back to my ortho for the expander and then I go back to surgeon for the Sarpe surgery I believe. I am so ready and nervous!!!
hey i had sarpe surgery 7 weeks ago and up until this week i still felt really numb from my nose down to my mid mouth section, i was told its because the nerves were cut during surgery so this is normal, did you go through this too? your movement in your face 3 weeks post op seems like you werent numb
Hello!! Oh boy I felt a subtle numbness for a couple of months, this is completely normal - it’s definitely true with the nerves, your body is essentially resetting from scratch and you won’t realise when you’ll be back to normal but you will definitely get there.
Hi Anish! I recently subscribed & am new to your channel (your videos have been super helpful + you’re funny hehe). I am trying to set a date for my SARPE surgery & i want this done sooner than later. However, I have a job I have to do 18 days after the surgery date they’re offering me - do you think it’s enough recovery time for me to accept this surgery date? It’s a random question, but I’m just trying to see if I should risk having the surgery on August 18 & be ok to work for one day (about 5 hours) on September 5th. (I do makeup BTW). Thanks in advance! ☺️
Hey Jasmine! Thank you! I’m so glad you’ve found it helpful, that’s all I could ask for! If you’re worried about a Job 18 days after surgery, I think if it’s not physically demanding, you’ll be fine - especially if you’re wearing a mask 😷. But at the end of the day it’ll all depend on how well rested you are on the first couple of weeks - personally from my experience I reckon you’d be able to do it
How lond dis your pain and pressure feeling last? Im 10 days post op for my sarpe and i still have alot of pain and pressure its so fustrating to me im emotionally drained feeling very down
I felt pain for maybe 2 weeks - however I was very careful - only had a mushy food for a good month. The pressure was there for months!! Especially when you’re turning, it’s something you’re going to have to power through but I promise it goes away!
I was only keen to get braces, but based on the size of my upper palate, I had to remove two teeth to fit the teeth with braces. However they advised them once you get braces without surgery, your upper palate will not align with your bottom palate - and so you’d have less teeth, straight teeth but a mismatched palate - so I opted for surgery
Hello I would like to know it's been almost a month since I have sarpe surgery I would like to know if you uper gum is still frezzing BC mine is still frezzing I don't feel it at all
If you mean numb, yes! The numbness could actually last even for 3 months because of how shocked the nerves are after surgery, and they take a long time to repair and gain feeling again
Hello thank you for the answer yes it about the numbnessI would like to know how long exactly did it take you to actually feel your upper gum and to eat normal food I can't chew like befoure
My guy. It’s such a daunting process! Like to think that someone’s got to split your jaw in half and then you have to push them apart day by day. It was super nerve wrecking to begin with. I can tell you it was much smoother than I was expecting, and the worst part of it all was before I did it (does this make sense?)
About your problem when you chew (or when you can't chew, ahah), why did your orthodontist not put braces BEFORE the SARPE ? I will go under the same surgery in 1 month and I already had the braces for 1 year. Having braces before could have prevented this problem, imho. Otherwise, great progress here :) I'm gonna follow your journey !
JeyPeytey Great question! So I had a narrow upper arch which resulted in overcrowding of the teeth. If I got braces before SARPE, there wouldn’t be any room for the teeth to come down. I could have removed teeth, got braces and then do sarpe, but it would yield the same result and I’d have all my teeth intact. I think that was the main things that made me decide to go this route hahah. ... and all the best! 1 month is so soon! I’m super excited for you 😍
Anmar Ibrahim my surgeon didn’t mention it was 100% obligatory - but they would mention that while doing SARPE they can easily do the wisdom teeth for you at the same time to save you some $.
By the way, remember that your sutures and bones arent fused now, you can gain forward expansion of the midface by pushing your tounge on the front part of your upper palate, 0.5 inches behind your upper incisors. you will gain horizontal growth of your face. aligning both your lower jaw and upper while expanding the palate. horizontal an other word for forward growth.

Hahaa it is definitely an experience to “cherish”
thank you for this video, I also need to have this done and I'm worried about the recovery experience. this video was informative.
It was my pleasure and and I’m glad to help!
My SARPE surgery was all done through my nose. I had braces before, so fortunately, my gap won't as be as big.
Thanks for this video! I’m going through this right now and it’s rough!

Anish Dev today I felt that same cracking or more like clicking around you heard. It’s so weird!
Priscilla Lorenzo it’s so strange! Like is that my home am I breaking it 😂😂
I’m loving your videos as I’m just now 2 weeks post-op. I’m really struggling with the pain/numbness and the lack of food I can eat 😂
You are so welcome! It’s the most annoying part when you can’t eat your favorite food. Hang in there, before you know it you’ll be crunching away!

Totally! Sorry it took so long! I have addressed your question on my recent upload :D
Hi it's me again it's been a year since I had sarpe surgery but my gum are still numb I don't know what happened

Search MSE, it's be here for ~5 years.
Hello....the gap when will be closed?
Literally is gone within a couple of months
Would you ever consider cheek implants?
Hmm... I don't think it's on the radar. Are you thinking of getting some?
Anish Dev maybe if I did sarpe, just so my cheeks can follow. I do plan to get MSE soon. Wbu man? Congrats on sarpe bro!
Anish Dev when you chew, do you feel your massager muscles get hard as you chew?
I don’t think I will get cheek implants - unless I see something that needs to make it happen you feel me?
Not at all! 😍

Anish Dev thank you also forgot how long were you numb for?
Olqaa Jimnz i was numb fully for a good month I reckon, I’ve still got a small amount of numbness but very little..
juust curious, would you get cheek implants, after sarpe surgery?
Most likely not, is it a common thing to do following sarpe?
What made you go with sarpe?
I was only keen to get braces, but based on the size of my upper palate, I had to remove two teeth to fit the teeth with braces. @@anishdev92 ahh I see, I’m getting some expansion soon so I’m just asking around for info. Are you moving forward to having jaw surgery?
Do you have braces or did you get the surgery first?
I had my surgery first, recovered, then braces 😁

Swallowing noodle and spaghetti whole 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
IM NOT EVEN KIDDING
did you get your premolars extracted prior?
Anmar Ibrahim I didn’t! I only got my wisdom teeth out about 8 months prior without knowing about the surgery at the time, but that was it 😁😁
@@anishdev92 Alright :D, im supposed to get this surgery done soon. is it obligatory to get your wisdom teeth extracted?
