The sun part probably refers to sunny since in the present, sunny doesnt have the white dots in his eyes, so basically his eyes are sorta lifeless

I'm impressed how SUNNY can still sit quietly like that without breaking down and confess the truth at this point.
It's because at this point in the game, Sunny hasn't rediscovered the entire truth that he made himself partially forget with the help of Headspace. That's why the decision is made at Basil's house when he wakes up in the middle of the night after picking up the final picture, which "restores" the final memory.
That's what I believe is the reason for him being able to hangout with his friends again for his last few days in Faraway Town and why you can go home in the middle of the night on the final day.
Keep in mind Sunny was pretty much emotionally dead for four years, when he cries after waking up in the hospital is the first real time he's "felt" anything in a long time.
In the cutscene where sunny vanishes in white space, I think that is sunny forgetting the truth with the help of omori, and the reason that sunny isolates from the world is because he think that is normal being an hikkikomori and being afraid of everything. He has been living there since he can remember

Of all the heart-wrenching, devastating content in this game i think the dialogue that comes up when you start this event ''Do you want to have a picnic with Mari?'' is the most fucking evil one. That shit broke me. IT IS SO SIMPLE AND YET SO EFFECTIVE.
I absolutely feel you. Seeing all of them together, just enjoying a picnic, with Mari’s theme in the background?
That was easily my favourite moment in the entire game, and it’s an absolutely crime that it’s optional.
(It beat the first Pluto boss fight as my favourite moment in the game).

Honestly, I don't consider that corpse in the ground "Mari". That is just her body. Only her consciousness (or soul, depending on your beliefs) matters.
I thought the final fight with Omori was more brutal. It was like "Hero loved her and you killed her", "Aubrey loved her and you killed her" and finally "she loved you and you killed her".

@@grean566Actually it’s because the tree behind her grave was cut down (most likely due to the circumstances in how they found her) it cases the sun to shine down on her grave unlike the others due to the trees shading them.

I don't get emotional often, especially when playing video games, but Omori really was something else.
I heard that the game was sad, but I thought it wouldn't be too bad, then it hit me. Even when Aubrey told us that Mari was dead, that alone got me on the verge of tears through sheer disbelief alone.
Everything that Mari says in-game, about how much she loves Sunny almost broke me in half, and going over the photo album, where the characters reminisce on their childhoods together, it broke me. None of these kids deserved what had happened, and the fact that Mari's ghost still loves her little brother despite what happened, it just goes to show how deep their bond really went.
But this scene? Right after checking the Omori piano too? It got the waterworks going. This scene genuinely made me cry, to the point that I think my shirt was a defacto box of tissues, also needed to click off the game and take a short break to take it all in, because it was just too much to handle all at once. And that's without going into detail about what happens afterwards.
I was already attached to Mari very early on, and the fact that I nearly cried when it was said that she was dead, was just foreshadowing for what was to come.
Glad I went into this game blind, even if I did have to play the game twice because I messed up my first run, heh. Again, not an emotional person, and RPGs aren't my thing, but this game really is something special, and it shattered me. Think I cried about 8 times by the time it was all over.
The first part might not have got to me that much because of Basil's foreshadowing in the very first dream. :p I'm used to a lot of indie horror and these creepy cute stories. :?
The confirmation still sort of hurt though, and knowing what exactly her deal and others like Basil even is...
For me, the game that made me cry an absurd amount for a while just watching a walkthrough even when I usually don't cry much anymore was the ending for A Space for the Unbound. :p The main girls' life sucks. ._.
There's the truth about the MC, hers, the inner child, her abusive dad, her closure within her own mind confronting everyone she knows, that entire ending and song, and when she wakes up and becomes the new main protagonist after starting off as the secret "villain"...
I guess when I get emotionally attached to something, I can't help but think of it hypothetically happening to a real person sometimes. :p I think. :?
Some parts of Welcome to the NHK got to me a lot... and I think even Aigis' lack of humanity around the end of Persona 3 when I was a lot younger, LOL. XD "I can't even shed a tear for you all" got to me. :p Poor robot girl. :?
But yeah, I really loved the free demo of A Space for the Unbound on Itch. :p I didn't know it would be kind of tragic. :(

ive played through omori twice, my first time and then when i recommended it to my girlfriend and we played it together. i didnt cry at any points on my own, even at this part, but when we played it together we both just broke down. omori was an experience.
Not related, but something ive noticed overtime is AUBREY is often glaring at KEL or staring at SUNNY. I consider this a possible callback to SUNNY’s childhood crush on AUBREY.
Also her friend action in the headspace is staring.
if only there was a sequel... but I guess a sequel wouldnt make sense because the events arent as fun, so maybe a video released by omocat would be more appropriate.
Felt like I would go and say but the normal endings say something about them. In the Sunny route when defeating omori it takes a while for him to drop the knife symbolizing it's hard to lose headspace while in the Omori route he drops the violin faster symbolizing it's easier for him to keep living a lie. When he jumps omori is in control trying to end him before he can learn the truth the he's been hiding for so long therefore killing omori so omori killed sunny so sunny can't kill omori
This gives me Fallen Down vibes.

I played this game 3 years ago and coming back to this just now made me burst into tears man
I didn't know you could visit mari's grave or that there was a graveyard behind the church until after i beat omori on the sunny route
though, i have gone back to do many things i miss, which i am grateful I oversave. one of those being visiting mari's grave with the whole gang -Basil (of course), because i already know what happens when you visit only Kel.
i, really like this game.
There is so much content in this game that can easily be missed because it never gives you any sort of hint. Like on the first day as Sunny, you can go buy flowers and place them on Mari's grave. Furthermore, I love the fact that there are little moments in the game that convey the story, for example, when Sunny and Kel visit Faraway park for the first time, Sunny see his Headspace Park characters, like Bangs, moving about before fading, indicating that Sunny has become so accustomed to being in Headspace, that it takes him several moments to realize he's awake and in the real world. Another one would be him slashing at Aubrey, his childhood friend, because as Omori that's what he does to "enemies" all the time.

might buy another copy of the game on a different platform then replay it later and actually do the stuff i missed on the sunny route.

This whole scene makes me want to burst into tears everytime... It's wholesome, but in a sad way. The dialogue before you actually set up the picnic... "Do you want to have a picnic with Mari?" That pulls way too hard on the heart strings!

This game saved my life,and although I have issues with omocat...this game means everything to me. I'm not entirely sure what would've happened to me if the game never came out,but if I had chosen to stay alive I wouldn't exactly be living. Thanks Omori.

I know an interpretation of it, but not its meaning. What you refer to is the common use in manga and anime. Outside of anime and manga, it's only used to say "a young boy". Unless we know Japanese, we can't really say for sure what it means.

I imagine this would be something like "Always By Your Side" or something like that.
I think "Always By Your Side" would make more sense seeing as the game places a lot of emphasis on the idea that, even tho Mari is gone, she'll always be with Sunny and the others as long as they remember her and cherish those memories they had together

It's actually a really normal thing to do in my (Filipino) culture, to respect the dead, we give offerings, and end up having picnics beside the grave. It's really tranquil.
Nothing wrong with having picnics with the grave of a loved one. Pretty normal I thought.
You should actually give it a try, it feels very peaceful and somewhat bittersweet when you remember your memories with your loved ones who passed away

Sunny's current subconscious, or even his real one, is represented by omori in the dream world. He isn't able to break down because he just thinks his sister's dead, but the memory of the fact that HE did it is protected by, in fact, omori. His subconscious side protects him from this. This is why when dreamworld basil tried to remember he literally, disappeared from the dream world forever. Even tho omori was created to hide this memory and let sunny have a good life, he's just emotionless now. He was never a kid who showed emotion so now that he knows he's sad about something he's not going to show that.
how can i get this path?
On Sunny's route One Day Left, back of the church. All four characters need to be reunited first for this event to become accessible.
