Glade Bainbridge ferry hold more than a few cars at a time.
That crossing went better than a Bear video I watched the other day. The Bear was swimming like crazy, went over a small waterfall, more swimming like crazy and ended up on the same side of the river it started on.
Too bad for the bear. I didn't see any "bear crossing" signs :)

Enjoy your trip! We love the Yukon and spend time there every year at our cabin. Last road trip we did through Alaska was way back when we only had 4 of our 5 kids. Now they are all gown up and giving us grandbabies! Time to do the trip again!

Nice video! We made that trip 4 years ago but going in the other direction. We did the Sour Toe drink also. You'll have a great time. We were in Alaska for two months and still didn't see everything.

It was certainly concerning at first, but one of the most unique experience in our 15 years of RVing. We have always avoided ferries :)

We did the Cape May Lewes ferry in May..not quite that tiny of a ferry, but we had to avoid a clearance issue. Still, was great fun. Check out our experience...

Cool trip, I had planned to be there this summer but canceled it due to the price of diesel. I'm going to try again next summer.
It has certainly been an amazing trip so far. Our class A is a gasser unlike our friends. So it's been a little lighter on the gas, but not by much. Looks like prices are dropping slightly in the last few days. Diesel is still around $5.60, but gas is at $4.99 as of yesterday. It's crazy that we get excited about those prices :) We certainly paid a premium in Canada last month though. Fortunately, we don't spend money on lodging since we seek out boondocking or free camping spots.
Did Bob Wells of Cheap RV Living give you any pointers for your Alaska trip?
No. But we've had many pointers along the way from others. This trip has been in the planning stages for a couple years by our travel buddies. We're happy to have been a tag along :)

It's a cheap bike cover that I replace each year.
Hey Brian, thanks for all the great videos. Could you tell me about your dashcam setup? I haven't seen that before.
I replaced the old Sony tube monitor with this cheap 3rd party one (amzn.to/3PgWWfT). It fit the hole but not completely. So I made a custom faceplate for it. Here's a quick video on Instagram that shows the process (instagram.com/p/CdgjMqvh1l-/). I also had to run a new cable from the front to the rear of the rig for the new camera. That was a bit of effort crawling around under the rig and up the back.
Oh that camera. It's just a regular rear camera that I have mounted on the dash to see out the front when the shades are pulled. It's wired to a 4 cam display above our door.
I have not watched all of your Alaska videos yet, did you guys find Fielding Lake, off of the Richardson Hwy near Summit, and Paxon?

Bin there done that ;-) FYI: If you would have camped at the campsite to your right just after the ferry there is a paddle wheeler graveyard with about 5 decaying paddle wheelers to see. There are videos here on youtube if you search. Did you check out the restored Gold dredge in Dawson?
Wd did stay at that campground but the path to the paddle wheelers was flooded. We also drove out to the dredger...pretty cool.

Brian, I am curious how your gasser does keeping up with the diesels over the mountains? To date, we have had no issues with our gassers, but have only faced east-coast mountains.
No problem. Sure they've got more power going uphill, but I've got enough. I prefer a gasser. We've been up and over all the mountain ranges in the western US pulling our car. Sure, it has it's moments when you really reach altitude, but what's the rush :)
How did the tape thing workout on the solar panels? Sorry not used to computer stuff. I just bought a cargo trailer. Any particular tape to buy? Thanks Rev.
Still going strong thousands of miles later. I did add some anchor screws on each end before this Alaska trip...just in case. Probably not needed but good piece of mind.

The ferry is free.
We went to Alaska 25 years ago but didn’t have the RV. I was always concerned the road could be a concern. But you said the road was pretty well maintained? I was always concerned for the windshield.
We planned to go next summer but gas concerns me.

There certainly were some tough sections getting to Dawson and on the Alaska side. They are always working on the road. So road conditions through those areas where they are working are hit and miss. You definitely have to be confident driving your big rig on narrow roads or, in some cases, soft conditions. Recently, parts of the road in Canada were washed out after we went through. It helps to stay connected with others on the trip to have a better sense of what lies ahead.
@@RVwithTito thank you for the follow up. We have driven some tight mountain roads in Colorado, Utah and Idaho and the rest of the west. It can definitely be a challenge. My wife isn’t fond of the passenger side drops

What type of dash am system are you using?

Absolutely. Since we boondock a lot we use it to scout out locations before taking the RV in. Once we have a basecamp, we use the car for all of our excursions, hikes, etc. Many of the places we go we would never get the RV into.
How do you tow a CR-V on an automatic? Are you putting the selector in neutral?
Key is in Accessory and transmission is in neutral. the 04 CRV is designed to be towed like this...the newer ones are not.

How did you connect 4 charge controllers to the Victron Cerbo gx since it only has 3 VE ports? TIA
The Cerbo also also has USB ports. The Cerbo can handle 16 devices in total even though there aren't 16 inputs. For the controllers I used Victron-to-USB interface cables and ran them through a cheap 5 port USB hub which is then plugged into the Cerbo which detects them just fine. I have an inexpensive GPS antenna on the 5th port which shows the GPS location on the VRM portal which is pretty cool.

I have one more question since you have seen this setup in action. I have the same setup going on a catamaran with lg435’s. I want each panel to have its own 50a controller just like you did. What is the most amount of amps seen going to the battery to charge it? Again TIA.
@@joeystiles6764 It's hard to say since there are typically large loads during peak solar windows. 100A or better is not uncommon.
