We finally got it. French oh french, my old enemy. The time has finally come, where I will wield any weapon necessary to battle. I will destroy your baguettes with my fromage an your pains with my chocolat. I will not let you break me. Not today, not ever. For today is the day your flag will become white once more!
Spoiler: I think I lost.

Absolutely love this as a French speaker. So fun that usually, your pronunciation of the languages is solid af and then French comes into the game to trip you up lmao
Hahaha I'm glad you enjoyed it. I feel I struggle a bit with vowels, and French did me dirty on that :(
same this was fun to watch
French is definitely a very vowel-fucky language (saying this as a native speaker)
I once tried to speed run French on Duolingo because I’m French Canadian. Easy peasy, right? No. I’ve never been more aware of dialects and vocabulary differences between countries in my LIFE.
🤣🤣 that should've been funny
Haha Canadian French is sont different x) btw i'm French French
"French is the Danish of the Romance Languages." Ah, Danish, so notorious that it's a meme.
Kinda true though 🤣
As a French professor assistant, this is a good reminder of why French students struggle with writing! I know writing is difficult of course, but sometimes I still get so annoyed with repeating the same tips over and over! 😅
It can be a bit of a nightmare!
I respect the Dexter's laboratory part. I can't study French without repeating, "OmLAAAY-du-fro-MAGE." I probably saw that episode once and it keeps haunting me.
It's a staple of 90's kids, never forget 🧀
im not fluent in french but "salut" is hello and goodbye in informal situations, au revoir is the formal goodbye iirc
also, as a general rule, you usually pronounce the "s" in words if the next word begins with a vowel or with a h. such as in "nous etuidons"
Thanks for clarifying!
@@jccbm np! dont take what i say as gospel, as the one thing im certain about in french is that it does not follow rules. its just as frustrating as english is
@@jccbm i love your videos mo much
The liaison system is works like this: when a word ends in a vowel, and the next word starts with a vowel,a consonant is needed to break them up,most of the time it's s or t,friends=amis/ami/(inbetween the ,,//" i'm writing how the words sound),but my friends=mes amis/mez ami/,he is=il est/il e/ but,is he?=est-il?/et il/,beaux/bo/ and vieux/viö/ change to bel/bel/ and vieil/viey/,but by far the worst is the ,,frankish-h",basicly,all h's in latin words disappered, but when the franks took over france, they brought new germanic words into the language that did have an h,germanic h in words like hache/ahsh/(related to spanish hacha) and that h even got attached to latin words like haut/o/,,hight",and so say les hôtes/lez ot/,,the hosts" but les hautes/le ot/ the hights and les haches/le ahsh/ the axes
Thanks for the explanation! I didn't know most of that.
Once you get spanish you can skip all of the skills and take the unit one test immediately, it will be the fastest speedrun ever
Goes against the rules I set though, placement tests are forbidden since long time ago 👀
Merci beaucoup pour le speedrun français. J'utilise aussi duolingo pour apprendre le français. C'est très amusant. Thank you very much for the French speedrun. I also use duolingo to learn French. It is is very fun.
Thanks for watching! I also love baguettes!
Omg I’m learning French and I just got so happy because I could read that!!!
Wait question cuz same, would aussi go better at the end of the sentence? "J'utilise Duolingo pour apprendre le Francais aussi" sentence structure messes me up so bad
@@zvoid_error000 I think they did it correctly, the sentence structure confuses me too but I think I’ve seen things like that before. Partially with the whole adjective before noun thing but also I feel like I’ve seen sentence structures similar to that one I just can’t put my finger on it
I love how you mostly sounded like you understood what was going on
Also where I'm from in france we have less phonemes but it just leads to misunderstandings with the other regions lol
You guys should maybe try conquering the rest of France so we all have to go through less phonemes. It's a win-win situation 🤷♂️
de quelle parti de la France viens-tu ?
Yiddish actually isn't too difficult once you can read the script, I've done some of the course. First four skills in the course are just focused on learning the alphabet.
Makes sense. As I understand it it's veeeeery similar to German.
@@jccbm Absolutely. I would sort of compare it to Galician/Portuguese. Derived from a common ancestor (Middle High German) and they have many, many cognates.
how can you pronounce french better than my french teacher wtf
4:55 i thought it was an ad or that i had accidentaly clicked in another video
🤣🤣🤣
Extremly funny to watch you speacking in french. And yes, you are right: french is the danish of the Roman language. Actually, the guys who created the french orthography were drunk that day. This is the only logical explanation I found. Btw, I am french!
I think I really might learn some Spanish but it’s great that you found a way to speed things up, especially since I am going to Europe next year and I might not finish the whole Duolingo course because I am also learning Spanish 😊
as someone who just finished their final french exam after 7 years of studying the language, this was very amusing to watch 😌
Cool, congrats! Also, I'm glad my suffering and slow transition to insanity have been succesfully farmed for the sake of amusement. I'd do it again 🥴
Your French prononciation is excellent.
5:34 I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING 😭😭😭 (I am a french native)
Very good indeed!
So I'm actually confused, High Valyrian isn't on the wheel and there isn't a video of it.. what happened?
Sometimes, when editing, I break the order in which I did them in real time, for whatever reason that might be 👀
😂 the monkey part killed me
The chat said French people like there family
Yes, I think because there were about 3 lessons related to family.
2:26
This sentence could both mean
„I am a man“ or „I‘m following a man“ because the first person conjugation of the verbs être and suivre are the same word: „Je suis.“
I hate French sometimes.
This guy is so underrated
I'm not an evil person but after watching this video I'd like to see you doing a course of Irish with pre-reform spelling (if there was one) ;)
Some examples from Wikipedia:
beirbhiughadh -> beiriú
imthighthe -> imithe
faghbháil -> fáil
Watching me suffer is a core part of this saga, so that would be awesome! But I don't think Duolingo would adhere the course to old rules. Looks like Scottish Gaelic on cocaine.
So basically welsh?
@@headstanding_Penguin As far as I know, though a bit strange, Welsh orthography is pretty consistent and you know how to spell every word just by looking at it, in Irish the situation is the same, but in pre-reform there were tons silent letters
As a French learner, I found this hilarious. It's just a shame the speedrun ended before you had to see how this language deals with the numbers from 70 to 99.
I’m from Canada, and throughout elementary, middle, and High school we were taught that the Quebecois dialect of the French language is referred to by French people as “Dirty French” because it’s apparently much more casual than regular French, however, this could be wrong
this was so good omg
I suffered a bit 😖
Hi JCCBM. I have a question. How do you get all those tracks from artists in your videos. Isn’t there a risk for a copyright claim/strike. How does it work ? Maybe just using them for a few seconds at a time is fine or whatever ? I’m hesitant using them myself. Also, where do you get all these musics in the background ? Thanks for you help. Love your content. 😊
In general, using them for 2-3 seconds only shouldn't be a problem
@@jccbm Yeah, I don’t know if that’s written anywhere as an official rule, but thank you for reply anyway.
11:47 BRO WHAT ?????
LOL
08:45 Wtf Lol
U r the best!
0:26 Tom Brady reference
French is my first language and I feel you deeply on the silent letters
grammar in general is really kicking my ass in french
english is so much nicer in comparison
every language got it's quirks and weird loan words and rules but french vs english? english wins 100%, it's way less confusing
learning english if you know french is fine but going from english to french is hell
That's so fun to watch as a French 😂
i just got a duolingo ad 😂😂😂
Cool intro!
Thanks! It's brand new, glad you liked it.
I love the fact that there is Pokémon XY ost, what's more French
I've put my heart into finding the right tracks for these videos
As a german speaker, spanish has it's weirdness too... like the ll, j and ñ
ll is kind of the german j,
j would be ch and
ñ no idea
I think every language does 😅 But French is very phonetically inconsistent with the writing
you should speedrun high valyrian
I did!
Look how many gems he has in the beginning
The number of the beast
in french there are 50 different spices of conjugation be warned.
I am french and you did great ! I know it’s quite hard and honestly for me the silent letter aren’t the most hardest part of French , it’s like , this
Present : je suis heureux
Passé : j été heureux
Futur : je serais heureux
Passe composée : j ai était heureux
Etc
Also the difference between a and à is you use a for a feeling (mostly) and à for a place
J'ai été heureux 🖕 t'as quel âge enft ?
C'est pas comme si le passé composé était un temps compliqué en plus !
@@Frenchcurses calmos j avait écrit sa à 2 heure du matin :/

8:00 What's that clip from?
How I met your mother!
Nice
Thanks!
Et Je veux un CROIssant
So is it just the first unit that you are speed running? Bc the entire French course on duolingo would take like years lol
Yes! In the old format, languages had between 1 and 10 checkpoints (Navajo had 1, French had 10) so I did the first one only to standardize the length. The new format is much longer and slower
@@jccbm gotcha that’s what I figured, great video though! French is impossible for me haha

Not yet, but hopefully someday

Im learning french and its still hard to pronounce le and les differently
It is!
ly and le :) your welcome
if it helps, it's like "the" and "they"
Le is for the (one only) les is for multiples (if I’m clear enough)
try saying "W Szczebrzeszynie chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie" (It's in polish btw)
I think I tried, but that's as far as I got, "trying"
me seeing u speak is funny im french
Yeah non tu isn’t too its chu
if u will reach 10k subs in this decade, i will learn french on duolingo, like entire course, ALL LEVELS

can i learn english with duolingo? My native language is turkish
I think there is a Turkish-to-English course. Give it a try, it can be quite helpful!
@@jccbm what level can i get? Can i get to b2 level?
@@strongaze You probably can, but I wouldn't recommend using Duolingo alone. Complement it with UA-cam videos or any other sources of input. It might take a bit of time, but there are a lot of good English resources out there!
@@strongaze I heard someone say Duolingo can take you to B2 but it's important to use other resourses and solidify what you need to with notes. Communicating with native speakers and watching videos/tv in the language you're trying to learn is also helpful!
Lol ur pronunciation is always great than français comes for you
