- Live stream from Dubovka, the town in Volgograd region on the bank of Volga river (about 40km north of Volgograd). The population in 2024 is almost 15,000 residents.
Dubovka founded in 1734 as an outpost in the southeast of Russian Empire to defend it from Mongolian nomads. Later being on the bank of Volga river, Dubovka used to develop as a merchant’s town. Until the end of 19th century it was even more significant town than Tsaritsyn (Stalingrad/Volgograd), but when in 1871, the railway connecting Volga region and central Russia was built through Tsartsyn, Dubovka lost its big significance.
In the years of WWII, the frontline never reached Dubovka, therefore here are still saved a lot of old merchant houses.
I also found an abandoned sanatorium with 230 years old oak tree on the bank of Volga river there

I loved the historic brick building that the hospital was built around - I agree that it doesn't look nice when they replace the windows with plastic ones - very disappointing to ruin an otherwise beautiful structure - awesome walk thanks for pointing out the amazing architecture on you channels 😃👍

hello Sergey! It was a great long walk. Really adventurous as you walked around in what seemed like nowhere when it got dark.
The whole village and the area seemed very desolate to me - but maybe that's just the winter. I also see what you said about the sanctions - the West, politics, it's really sick!

I love these old russian wooden houses: 36:14 1:23:20 They have spirit. New houses do not.
Sad thing is that the most beautiful thing - wood-carved windows - are being changed for ugly plastic ones.

The Pugachev-led uprising of 1773-1775 is the largest peasant uprising in Russian history. The peasants who participated in it demanded freedom from the landowners for themselves.
Legend has it that Pugachev stayed in a brick white house with thick walls and iron doors in Dubovka town, and the Dubovka Cossacks joined him. For "treason to the throne", many Dubovka's Cossacks were expelled from their native places after the defeat of Pugachev.
