So many memories come suddenly to my mind... Such a different and vague period of my life. That loading sound, those graphics, it was all that mattered to me back then hahaha
That's the sound of my childhood alright. I lost my CPC 464 in a house fire when I was 16, but I got a used but still working one on eBay a few years ago. I guess I got hit real hard by nostalgia, there's no other explanation for buying it.
Definately worth going the 664/6128 or getting an ext hard drive if you go the 464 route. Though there are add ons these days which let you use an SSD as a hard drive, which is great for grabbing loads of old games from the rom sites
i remember playing the bards tale, to go up or down in a dungeon it took about 3 mins to load each time. the c64 version was admittedly quicker loading, but I finished the game on the cpc.
Although it is charming with the loading sound and stripes, I would say get a ULIFAC. It turns a 464 into a 6128 with 512kB or RAM or 256kB RAM and 8 ROMS, you get USB drive disk emulation, so you can read any game you like in a few seconds, and it ads serial communication and Bluetooth or WIFI.
The files are the conversion of old audio cassettes to WAV format. So they are simple audio files. More information here: www.ccworld.it/2018/01/usiamo-limmagine-cassetta-audio-un-vero-amstrad-cpc/
Ah ah great times :) I had the colour model. If Im not wrong there was a shortcut for the run" command , maybe shift+ right arrow or control right arrow.. Damn its not that far, only 35 years ago ;)
What’s the best way to play roms on original amstrad hardware is ther a way I can load all the roms and just pick which ones I want to play, similar like how a flash card works ?
The best way is to use the M4Board from Duke (cpc wiki forums). A board which connects to the expansion edge and Adds wifi and sd card support. Then all you have to do as your amstrad is a part of your local network, is to fire up a web browser with amstrad ip and transfer your files with drag and drop using the web server UI of the M4Board. Files are transferred wirelessly to the sd card and you can even start them from the web ui of the pc. Search in youtube with "m4board" as a key
You need to have the game in .cdt format in your smartphone. Then you must rename the file extension from .cdt to .tzx and play it on your Android device with the app "PlayZX": play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.baltazarstudios.playzxtapes
i juste remember the read error A.....read error B!!! You wait 1h to play the game and 2mn before the end of the tape, one beautiful read error A!!! :D
Hey, great video. This is awesome to be able to use your phone. I have got a dead CPC 464 (No power). What should I be checking please? fuses, obviously already checked etc. Thank you.
There are no fuses.... Or are you trying to run it from the display? In that case, power the computer itself. You can mod a random 2A USB charger for that, just mount a EJAJ connecter to it, 5,5 mm, center pin positve.
Now another thing you could do is install an emulator then use a walkman with a headphone to usb adapter linking 5he walkman to the phone and you could run the actual game.
1 that's not a smartphone it's clearly a tablet, 2 ya could atleast invest in a colour monitor, fuck I only paid 30 quid for mine a few years ago. Green screen sucks bumhole

Impressive, hearing those tones reminds me of my childhood
That takes me back, I can almost feel how I used to feel waiting for games to load. Thank you for posting!
If only I had my old amstrad I need to buy just for them nostalgic games. Good upload dude.

This really made me happy. This was my first computer so long ago .. made quite the impression 😁
"Hey ! Wanna play lego while it's loading ?" "Yeah"
I remember the games sometimes took 20 minutes to load and by that time you couldn't be bothered with it once it finished loading.

That was my first computer - a green screen CPC 464 - my friend had a colour screen CPC 464 - Spent many an hour playing games on these
hey, where do you find the files of the cpc games? what format is it? is there a app for that in the smartphone store?

If you place the tape as this you can have a tiny problem getting it back. I recommend to use trap door and just close it with wire
So those tape adapters are two way???????
So cool man, do you know where I can get the programs
I'm planning to turn on my old cpc464 and I wish to try things I never had
Digital to analog to digital to analog to digital.
If we count the Amstrad to monitor to youtube then add "to analog to digital" once more.
And from my iPhone to the headphones to my ears digital to analog to neural :)
Donde descargo esos juegos?,quiero hacer lo mismo

Ctrl + shift + small enter?

I’m not sure but I think a Gotek drive might be your answer.

It was literarilly like feeling your body being flooded and shaked with game bits
I wonder why you didn't buy a color monitor instead.
Very very nice!!! :)
Da provare subito!

You said:"Amstrad CPC 464 - Loading games from smartphone", but that was a tablet, not a smartphone...
its a shame you cant uses the audio from one of the cassette games in a walkman or something to play the games on a smart phone
Great project!
Wir ziehen gleich die Löcher aus dem Käse und dann geht sie los unsere Polonäse
Brilliant,
Why?
Why did you fast forward the loading... it was the best part. 😅
I remember that sound well.
👍👍

The problem is that the original audio tapes have demagnetized. Fortunately there are digital files in Wav format.
excellent
