    I don’t know where he’s getting his data. FSU and Clemson both average double the viewers that UVA and UNC bring. Do you think advertisers want potential viewers are guaranteed viewers. I can guarantee ESPN doesn’t want to lose the Greenville/Atlanta/Charlotte viewers that Clemson carries to Fox.

    • @bspr9062
      @bspr9062 Місяць тому

      Agreed but I’m not sure you lose out if you leave out Clemson. UGA will carry the Atlanta market. UNC probably carries a large part of the Charlotte market. You are really comparing the fraction of GSA to another market like Miami. But what do I know.

    • @rooroo_7
      @rooroo_7 Місяць тому +1

      @@bspr9062 it’s not that those schools carry the market for those areas because they do I agree, but Clemson has a sizable minority base there, it’s the fact that they would be giving Fox one of the most loyal and consistent college football tv markets. Also….you think after 5 years of schools like UVA and UNC getting boat raced on a weekly basis in the SEC theyre gonna bring over the more than double of those viewers in “prospective” markets it would take to equal Clemson’s? I don’t. ESPN wouldn’t own whatever time slot Clemson is playing in at that point. Especially if they’re playing any of the Big 10 powerhouses on a given day. I’m sure there are loads of people that can’t wait to see UVA and USC trade blows though. 😂

      Big 10 academics premium is rapidly eroding as southern and southwestern schools as a whole are rising up, and rising fast, academically, while the northern schools are suffering from long term adverse effects of DEI weirdo BS that successful minded students are running from (along with the cold weather). Good show TJ. I liked your guest's perspectives. I share a lot of his thoughts on everyone except Duke. I think SEC would add Kansas over Duke, and perhaps WVU over both of them.
    #1 SEC pick has got to be FSU.
    #2 is Clemson.
    #3 is either UNC or, as he mentioned late: NCSt.
    Certainly NCSt over Duke.
    Duke is more of an ACC privates (a group that may grow in numbers with additions of Tulane and Rice (outside chance: Liberty & Tulsa).
    Otherwise, if the ACC privates do not hold as a New Ivy League, then I see Duke in either the Big12 or AAC or BigEast.
    There is no reason why Duke could not be another TCU, but so far they just haven't done it. All the big privates except ND, TCU, Baylor, BYU have suffered of late, and that includes USC & MIA in the latter category.
    Neither Vanderbilt nor Northwestern would be added to their respective conferences today if not already members, though Northwestern posts better media numvers than does Vandy. Vanderbilt needs to get their athletics (football, basketball) chit together like they have their academics. Would SEC kick them out ? No. But if revenue sharing model changes, they could and should get hosed. And that's unnecessary as Vandy has to sell what other don't - an Ivy League quality education, same with Duke, Wake, BC, ND, Tulane, SMU, to some extent, MIA, and fast rising to that status are: TCU, Baylor. Many would argue BYU meets that standard. There's no reason those schools could not all be TCUs/NDs in football as well as athletics, but for this new paradigm shift - required compensation of athletes as either employees or independent contractors.... or is it ... really ?

I get he’s a gamecock homer, and that’s fine, but to say Clemson isn’t at the top with FSU in terms of revenue, and ratings, is showing obvious bias. I honestly don’t care if we go to the Big 10 or SEC, but to act like Clemson would be at the level of mediocrity as USC, is just not using logic or reason, especially given the fact that SC has competed in the easier side of the conference and unable to do much in that spot.

    The SEC has schools that they want too and the SEC is thinking about revenue disparities too. Whenever the ACC starts to come apart, the SEC & B1G are going to have a feeding frenzy.
    What none of us (including all of the ACC schools) knows is how many schools each conference wants to add. I personally suspect that the SEC is looking to add 4 schools and the B1G is thinking about adding 6.

      Yes Bobby said that but 99% of the fans don't know why he said that and what was going on behind the scenes at the time. It was nothing but a rationalization to try and explain why we joined the ACC.
      The driving force behind joining the ACC was the revenue produced by the NCAA basketball tournament.
      Our president, our athletic director, and our booster president all were in Bobby's ear the entire time.
      They also played on Bobby's emotions about getting screwed by Alabama for the head coaching job.
      They convinced him that joining the ACC would be better and THEN he began to realize it would be an easier path to a national championship so he agreed on the decision.
      Now you know the facts.
      Bobby wasn't afraid of anybody dude he is the man that coined the phrase any team anytime anywhere. That is how FSU made its bones by playing the best teams in the nation and beating them.@xosuper9193

      As a big follower of SEC sports, fans of all the other 15 schools would fight to keep Vanderbilt in the league. Nashville is by far the most favorite city for fans of other schools to visit, and thousands have moved there. I saw where there are more Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida alums living in the Nashville metropolitan market than there are Vanderbilt alums. The conference places its Men's Basketball Tournament in Nashville, and it had its football media event there last year. And, with Texas playing at Vanderbilt in October, get ready to see 30,000 Longhorns' fans hit Nashville and have a major party in the downtown nightlife stops the Friday before that game. And, they will be barely noticeable, because there will be 50,000 non-football fans in Stetson hats like there are many nights in the Las Vegas of the South.
      For disclosure purposes, I fled Nashville 22 years ago like Oliver Wendell Douglas fled New York. My Hooterville is rural Benton County on the Tennessee River.
