Great list but number 1 is unforgettable for me. How is the remake of Dawn if the dead better than the original Dawn of the dead. The remake was good but I personally think the original is a masterpiece.

Dawn of the Dead is the best and first zombie movie I had ever seen. It’s ruined other zombie movies for me because it set such a high bar that no other zombie movie has yet to surpass. It’s the one zombie scenario I think of when I think “What would a zombie apocalypse be like in real life?”

I would’ve replaced it with Day Of The Dead.. practical FX, and some of THE greatest gore scenes in a zombie movie.

Dawn of the Dead deserves a lot of credit for bringing the zombie movie out of the low-budget, campy, B movie category. I doubt we'd have seen all of the great zombie TV shows and movies of recent years if it hadn't been for Dawn of the Dead.

Planet Terror was one of the movies I watched once on TV and never seen any trace of it again, then spent years thinking "Does that movie really exist? Or did I just made everything up in my head?"

Aaron Smith I disagree since the 1990 remake updated the effects and stayed true to the idea for the original (and going with the ending that Romero wanted for the original as well). It just can't complete with some of the other zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead (2004) as a horror movie
Jake Alter key word is "remake". The remake is not better then the original. The original at the time created a genre. The remake was just a zombie movie along side many others
Aaron Smith I disagree in the case of night of the living dead, the 1990 remake was basically the same movie with updated special effects and it went with the original ending that Romero wanted (where Barbra survived). I'm not trying to take anything away from the original night of the living dead or anything just that the 1990 version did make some improvements
Aaron Smith and I never said that the remake of Dawn of the Dead was better than the original, the original is the better one as a movie overall but the remake is better as an action/horror movie (I say this after having watched and/or owned both versions). I just feel that the original could have been made a little shorter than it was so that it didn't feel like it was dragging on at some points
Since the original is "the better movie overall" and created the WHOLE genre...then in my opinion it will ALWAYS be number 1 zombie movie
The updated special effects made it stand up to others at the time it was made...but for the genre at time of release of both movies (and any other zombie movie) Night of the Living Dead, 1960's is THE zombie movie

The perception about zombies changed and people no longer think about zombies as beeing a slow dead corpse that's evil and possesed, in fact, we have a very small number of movies with zombies of this kind. When we think about zombies, we see dead people reanimated, by a virus or an anomaly that devours the meat of the living, that have no consciousness and can only be killed by destroying the brain. The best example of the cinematografic zombies can be found on "Dawn of the dead" movie, or the walkers from The Walking Dead TV-Series. Thanks for your feedback sir!

I loved Zombieland. My mom & I watched it on the 4th of July. We had a blast. I thought the old guy was going to bite it for sure. Afterwards we just had to have Twinkies. So mom went to get them. Then she pulls up and tells me to get it they're about to set off the fireworks. So we drove just down the street to watch them.

only issue with WWZ is that it got bashed on due to the fact it didnt follow the novel but other than that as a standalone it is perfect
@@tareknasser8565 No... no it really isn't. The main character is characterized as this scouting genius, yet all of the actions he makes suggest otherwise. There is no characterization of his family, and they are only there to make you care about him. They fail to properly quarantine the virus in the WHO facility and they treat it like it's a small scale threat (seriously, in real life they would be wearing full hazmat suits).
The behavior of the virus makes no sense whatsoever. Why would they ignore a guy with a screwed up leg? I get a virus looking for a host without a chronic illness, but a messed up leg?! The reshoots were very inconsistent. The main character doesn't even have a personality except that he is brave and smart, until he isn't. The helicopter fires at the falling bodies on the inside of the wall, rather than the stack on the outside. They establish earlier that not everybody takes 12 seconds to turn, and some take minutes, but Brad Pitt still acts like they always take 12 seconds. Etc.

Zombies aren't run... Classic zombie still the best
I like the classic ones. There were only old rifles and pistols with very limmited ammo, so that's how we were getting a lot of action and suspense. With the technology of today we could easly eradicate a zombie apocalypse with slow zombies, so they had to evolve too.

You see, my parents watched REC and they couldn't sleep for a week or so since its apparently really scary and if it is then that could possibly be my favourite even though its not really a zombie movie but a virus outbreak movie but still I definitely need to watch it at some point.
All of these are great movies plus others that were not mentioned. So many good zombie movies with their own twists and turns.
