She is now almost 18 and her voice has lowered and thickened even more. One song, "Rechenka" that she performed on this show in B minor she now does acapella in G minor. "Rechenka" should be your next one from Diana, but preferably the performance from this show. She does a very cool vocal fry line that is quite haunting!

@@annavaskelainen so you know, she has been working very hard on her upper register too. He vocal coach died last winter to COVID, so she has taken a step back due to that and her studies at GITIS. With that said, her newer stuff isn’t as low in range.

Diana likes Folk, folk rock for her voice and less pop music. She doesn't over ornament her music as there is a plague of this in modern pop music. Her vocal color is incredibly unique. If you want more tribal folk try her signature performance of Rechenka. It's neo-tribal fusion and spectacular. At the end she uses yodeling techniques to express anguish and it's a must see if you have any interest in all pursuing more of her music. I enjoyed your comments and your opinions. :)

Thank you for your reaction, I liked it. I will wait for your reaction to other performances of Diana, they are not worse than the "Wicked Game". Diana performed not only covers of the famous songs "Human", "Havana","Take on Me". She also has her own songs "Into the sky" (В небо), "Your Voice" (Голосом твоим), "Happiness" (Счастье). Hi from Texas, Anna! Diana does all her own interpretations and arrangements. Yes, contralto. I think that Diana is more advanced than Cher (I grew up in the 1960s and listened to a lot of Cher). Diana sings with so much passion and power and intensity. She becomes what she sings and captures into her musical world. Diana shakes my soul.

Hi Anna, again me. Very thankfull for reacting to Diana. Its interesting how she growing up. She start with yodelling, people doesnt like it after change her repertoar and start to sing completely different (unique) style then other singers (not sure but probably Igor Krutoy (old man - judge) cover her like tutor after she disappeared with yodeling). One from the judge said Klassa (not Boss) means extraordinery. Her cover song of Rechenka shows much more her abilities and possibilities, stotytelling, genuinely stage presentation and she sing in Russian language. Diana has something primal, mystical, but also sensitive and sensual in her voice and she lives her songs. Diana is a dramatic contralto, the rarest contralto type and deepest woman voice. Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally, there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, the daughter 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
After winning a competition in Moscow, Diana's mother was offered to leave the girl in a boarding school for gifted children. She refused and in 2012 her family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
Diana's voice, her perfect pitch and her sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a little girl and so she impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
In 2017 she went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Diana sang 'Yodel-Time' ua-cam.com/video/vKdvaWsd91Q/v-deo.html but none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. What happened? Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
A door had closed but a new door opened:
In 2018/19, Moscow hosted the 3rd season of a unique international competition instead of "You are Super", especially for adopted and orphaned children. The winner of the season (Diana) will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to UA-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
Diana won also a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy gifted her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in October 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school a year earlier, as an external student and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

Miss Ankudinova has sang some very serious songs to light funny ones. I like Rechenka and With You Voice as serious songs. Soldier You have Survived is a very somber song as well. On the lighter side, she had sang Havana and Take On Me. She has her own You Tube channel. Most of her music is listed there that should not be blocked. @@jinxvrs In Russia we use the 'boss' in meaning of 'director' or 'chief' only. But 'class' that she said means 'cool' or 'wow'. Any letter 'a' in russian should be pronounced like 'u' in 'run' for exmpl.

Yes! I agree with J. Lahtinen. By far my favorite performance of hers was Rechenka linked above. It is quite an emotional song and similar in tempo to Wicked Game. I did want to throw out another one though since you did ask for something a little more upbeat/faster tempo. I know everyone here, myself included, would love for you to react to Rechenka, but if you wanted something in between more upbeat her performance on Dernière Danse was stellar as well linked below.

У контральто другие способности - и одно из них подмеченное многими учителями по вокалу - это полифоническое, обертоновое звучание голоса Дианы.
Но при том, что голос Дианы такой мощный, он при этом и достаточно гибкий, так что красивые мелизмы в больших объемах, и где то рифы в небольших объемах присутствуют.

Agree with many other subscribers here - please, react to Rechenka, dated 2018, when Diana was 14. This is a true masterpiece in all aspects of performance. And do not forget several things from the present day Diana. She is a special phenomenon, a unique warm, chocolate contralto with a bunch of excellent vocal technics including perfect yodel and many other. Her range goes from C3 to D6 included, with full access to all notes. Diana is a vocal Universe, she is a Mecca for vocal analysis, a true vocal master in such an early age. Best.

You would be amazed I think cause judges was so stupid they thought that she can only yodl and didn't turn around.....after performance they talk a lot about this while ppl in audience gave her standing ovations, do one young female judge asks her to sing acapella, and she killed them with a french song!! They were so ashamed they didn't know how to get out of this situation. Boy they were hated next day in Russian social media 😁.... But God had plans for her, so she went next year to this show you watched ( and links I gave you in other comment)and won it, & next show she won again this show between winners and finalists. It's a show for orphan kids and kids with very hard life.....and she had the worth childhood ever. You even can hear this pain sometimes in her songs..
