- Waylon Jennings performs "I Ain't Living Long Like This" at Farm Aid in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985.
A performance from the first Farm Aid benefit concert. Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp founded Farm Aid and serve on the board of directors. The three agreed that family farmers were in dire need of assistance and decided to plan a concert for America. The show was put together in six weeks and was held on September 22, 1985 in Champaign, Illinois before a crowd of 80,000 people. It raised over $9 million for America's family farmers. Performers included Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and many more.
Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's Board of Directors in 2001 to help further Farm Aid's mission of keeping family farmers on their land.

This song truly has an underrated amount of badassery
Written by Rodney Crowell
Absolutely 💯
I want to "thank you" Sir!
Heck yeah it does!!!
Leash law badassery. Rodney and Waylon are two of my heroes.
Nobody will ever out do Ralph Mooney on that Steel Guitar. He never got the credit he deserved. He made Waylon’s songs what they were with his great talent.
20 people don't know what great Country music is , Long live the Hoss man !!!
Don't ever compare any of today's trash with a legend
BRANDON PETERS who's that?
Lilly Preston look up Chris Stapletons cover of this song
BRANDON PETERS I immediately thought of Chris when I saw this comment because I just watched his cover of this
Damn right.
I just listened to Chris Stapleton's version and it was kick ass awesome. Waylon Jennings would be proud.
When u hear Waylon on the radio u know right away who is singing. Todays crop sound all alike.
Man could Waylon pick that old telecaster !!! Today's artist can't compare. He and Merle Haggard. Legend's !!!!!!!
Nobody cooler nor more bad assed than waylon. My main man Cliff Tucker and I drove to Littlefield Texas summer of 2023 to pay homage to the man! Great roadie!
Waylon Jennings was a true rebel.
I heard this song when it first came out and I was in my prime and realized that song was describing me and my life and I played the song every chance I could. Praise the Lord for Waylon he was a blessing. 🙏
I'll take Waylon Jennings over anybody any ol' day of the week.
This guy is on fire with that guitar...Lord, what a guitarist with a MONSTER voice!!
best picker and country singer ever. Waylon is a legend
i wouldnt say he was the best picker, many many times he doesnt even have his guitar plugged in, but thats not just him, my dad worked with many people from Nashville and they said whether their guitar was plugged in or not, they felt uncomfortable without it, but anyways, many times he is just strumming but you cant hear it.
Not even close to the best picker
@@fiveninegarage his guitar was always plugged on stage. If you couldn't hear him which was rare, his guitar was mixed low.
Vince gill , Steve Wariner, Roy Clark, Jerry Reed and more beg to differ.
@@CharlieRootsMusic Chet, Lefty, Laur Joamets, Merle Travis, Guthrie Trapp, Kenny, Don Rich.............
Waylon performed so many songs that were perfect for introducing your gas pedal to the floorboard. ;-)
But the songs like Amanda, Come With Me, The Wurlitzer Prize could make you cry
I'm kinda ashamed to say I first heard this on GTA 5. Iv listened to Johnny Cash and Jerry Reed for years but never Waylon Jennings and boy was I missing out.
If you was born in my era and the south he was your grandpa. Waylon was there from the beginning for me. Dukes of Hazard.
Waylon was a very underappreciated guitar player. He could make that Telecaster sing
looks like the same one he played on the Porter Wagner show in 1967 the song was that's what you get for loving me
insulman100
insulman100 this is one his other ones. he had like 6 or 7 of them with leather two with black pickguards and rest with white pickguards.
Steven Cryar agreed!
Steven Cryar true!
Miss Waylon and all the ole boys. Thank god their music lives on.
OMG!!!! Love love love this song and WAYLON. Nobody can pick their guitar like him!!! 😮💕
One 1⃣ of my favorite entertainers on the planet and his awesome music is still in my music library in 2024
Rebel radio helps me focus on the missions at hand.

@@selterz4851 That's cuz the creators parents were the owner of the biggest Jazz club in London, the more u know ey.
I would say that WAYLON is underrated for “BADASSERY”. But it ain’t the truth because EVERYBODY already knew it. There will NEVER be another like that MAN👍😢.
Ralph Mooney is just nuts here! The guy doesn't move, bib his head or nothin and yet he plays that steel like Lucifer! Unless I'm watching them, I can't tell where "Moon" starts and Waylon ends. They were like the Mick and Keith of country. A truly unsung pair.
Tommy Petersen Mooney and waylon created the best sound ever heard in country music
So, who cares?
@@HighSpeedNoDrag who cars if you don't. go step off a wall.
@@monmixer Not sure if my comment even remotely applies to you. Step off a wall? Stepped off a few aspects in my life. At age 15, I "stepped" off 85 foot cliff into a quarry/water filled and the hang time was around 5 seconds.
@@HighSpeedNoDrag do it again
Remembering Waylon Jennings on this June 15th on what would have been his 75th Birthday...Happy Birthday Waylon I Love
I remember going to the show & seeing Waylon & other country artists for the first time. It was titled "Nashville Rebel". It was around 1966, I was 13 then. A few years back someone posted the full movie on YT,it was about 4 years ago. Watched it again for the first time since I originally seen it. What memories that brought back! So many in the movie that aren't with us anymore, & we've lost others since then. We sure do miss y'all!❤😔😥💔
Definition of Outlaw Country
When you know that these people produced music from their hearts and souls, you just have to feel sorry for singers who just fit their talent to a formula from the formula folks. Waylon thumbed his nose at corporate Nashville, played the music he loved and became a legend. The best!
There was no corporate Nashville back then Glenn, you’re thinking of nowadays…
Amazing how many great songs were written by Rodney crowell
I love how as Waylon got cleaner and cleaner his voice and playing just went into another gear. He was always great but by the early 80s the coke really did a number on him but you can't keep a good (and talented ) nan down. Just love this guy.
The greatest of all times
Quit coke and 5 pack a day cigarette habit, man had willpower when he decided something
the one and only waylon jennings, truly f****** amazing.
I love american music
Waylon kicked ass right there r.i.p waylon !!!!
❤❤WAYLON HAD IT ALL, VOICE ,LOOKS , GREAT BAND , BEAUTIFUL WIFE ,TALENT!❤❤ IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER !!❤❤
The best there ever was
Waylon was one great guitarist he was in concert back in 1983-84 in McAllen Texas.
Waylon came out onstage he made that guitar sing made it make the whoop whoop whoop and then made it yodel. I was so glad I got to see him in concert with his gorgeous wife Jessi Colter.
I miss Waylon but his music is forever playing here in Texas
Man Mooney and Waylon played off each other so good
One of the rockinest country songs ever!!!
really underrated as a guitar player...great solos here
Sorry for being that guy but Waylon's picking was quite simple actually. He played some rhythm sequences because he was a rhythm guitarist but in a unique way that they sounded like a solo. I like the sound of it and I love Waylon Jennings but it was not something difficult to play.
I like it, if you listen to it and play in quarantine, GTA V
wow what a song! Great! thanks, from Hungary👏🏻
Good day to you too!
The guy from Hill St. Blues...announcing Waylon...WOW!!!
My all time favorite outlaw. Dannng good looking. ❤

I was at this Farm Aids concert 1985 was just like WoodStock all over again.I had the time of my life all the stars that came out to dedicate their time for such a great cause the Farmers it rained but we didnt care it is a memory I will never forget
Roger Miller ‘River in the Rain’ was something else. Then he did ‘Old Friends’ with Willie. 👌
Ornery and mean..the unmistaklable growl of Waylon Jennings..Miss you.
Waylon was the real rock star of country. $1500 of coke. A day. Amphetamines and booze For years. Then kicked it cold turkey on his own. Legend.
Waylon didn't drink booze
My all time favorite, brings a tear to my eye all is old genuine article outlaws are fading away.
ABSOLUTELY UNBEATABLE EXTRAORDINARY.
GTAV introduced me to this great song!!!
What a monster talent...voice is the most recognizable and best in country. Aint too bad on that telecaster either!!
Steel man Mooney owned that band Ralph.... the guts of Waylons band
Hard to believe that was a live performance. It was probably better than the record version.
jamey johnson is the only new country singer to even compare with ol'waylon people don't understand the talent you have to have to be able to write your own songs.waylon did it and so does jamey.
Waylon is not just a great singer but he can sure play that guitar with out even looking and that is amazing. I just love this guy, if Jessie wouldn`t have gotten to him first, I would have been racing to where he was playing and catch him eye.MAYBE you just never knew what the future in 1978 when your 18 yrs. old, but he was sure a hottie and all man and so handsome and sexy as hell.
Waylons singing and looking around where is Willie. Man this must have been a party! How could you not enjoy
