You're right. The music is once again controlled by executives, not by the artists. Waylon was responsible for improving the quality and realness of the music. I don't listen to country anymore because they've shifted away from what he did.

I saw Waylon in Chandler Az., he was driving a black American car of some kind, not a caddy or a Lincoln , any way I had a Chevy pickup no air so I had the windows down and Waylon up; I made eye contact with the guy in the car at a four way stop and he gave me a thumbs up, which I returned with a mystified look, then he pointed at his face with both hands, at which I gave him two thumbs up and a big grin. Then he touches the brim of his hat as he crossed the intersection, it was hot that day but boy was that cool!

Always one of my favorite singers ever since my Dad explained who was singing the song to my favorite TV show at that time, the Dukes of Hazard. Well he scheduled a Prineville, Or concert in 1990 and I must have been the first to buy tickets. But 2 days before he was scheduled to come to town he canceled due to problems with his diabetes. I was heart broken. But he came back in 1991 and sang his heart out!! I will never forget that concert and I will never grow tired of listening to Waylon!!

I have been to Waylon’s grave site. Waylon is buried in Jessi’s family plot, close to Jessi’s mom and dad. There is an empty space beside Waylon for Jessi when she passes. Waylon’s gravestone is flat, and looks like it is made of black granite. An image of Waylon is etched on the stone. Engraved on the stone is a verse from “Belle Of The Ball”: “A Vagabond Dreamer, A Writer And Singer Of Songs”. Waylon always said that “Belle Of The Ball” was the favorite of all the songs that he wrote. Also inscribed are the words “I Am My Beloved’s, My Beloved Is Mine”. On the right side of the stone are the words “A Wonderful Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather”. Waylon’s gravestone is certainly in sharp contrast to the grossly elaborate gravestones of people like George Jones, and Johnny and June Carter Cash. It is a simple but beautiful gravesite that is appropriate for a down to earth and humble man like Waylon Jennings was.

Yes, for a TV special. James Garner as a guest. This is about the time my son played cards with James Garner on Waylon's bus for about an hour at another show. He was 10 yrs. old and didn't have a clue who he was. Just Waylon's friend to him.

$$$$$$$ Big business ruined everything. Dollars became more important than the music. The "Autotune" could make anyone a star, if they had the money.

Damn I'd give anything to be at this show or these old Honky Tonk's in 1980. Also the Motorhead tour of 1980.
Does anyone know what hat Waylon is wearing hear? It's not the Lash Stetson that you see at hat shops because it's shaped like a western fedora with straight brim and pinch front crown. And is that Thor's hammer on the front? It looks very similar to the hat Lemmy is wearing on the Motorhead Ace of Spades album cover.

    " Yeah, I do!"

Two of the coolest men of the '70s/80's. Waylon Jennings and James Garner. This stuff is timeless.

Ironic... Waylon owned JD's in Tempe about 30 minutes away. Heck, Mr. Lucky's didn't let me in because I wore a T-shirt and not a collared shirt.
