the clutch blew up, the bell is broken exactly where the clutch shoes would of flung into it at. just too much rpm for the clutch to keep strenght up to motor. clutch in my bike did the same a year ago. didnt blow my clutch bell uo but jammed up my bell causing me to skid to a stop.
It happened because he pushed a rear drum brake to lock clutch and continued to apply torque to clutch, soft metal just failed and fallen off, no one ever brakes while accelerating so it does not happen in real life.
Ok, that was extreme, but with no real load on the CVT, it's not a fair test of a road bike that would have rolling resistance from the tires and weight of the bike. Still, it is impressive the amount of damage done here.
Because of the heat, the bell will loose its shape (warp) and will collide w/ the clutch housing. Especially if you're clutch lining is slipping, the more heat it will produce.
so that we all understand, what caused this was *only* the crazy RPMs on that clutch; the 3 weights inside of it, trying to fly apart, created a force of many tons against the round drum, which was TOO THIN to cope with that The thing sounded like a jet,the RPMs were just nuts test was probably done like that on purpose to get a video
+kattemissen clutch bell couldn't stand the centrifugal forces and the weight of the clutch shoes pushing against the walls of the bell was too much. The clutch itself wouldn't have split.
your 'circle nut' thats holding the spring between your clutch and your converter just got loose you can see it at the end of the video the circle nut is all the way against your clutch bell, so yeah better tighten things well before you rev the engine that high ;) lessons....
it's a deliberate failure to quantify what damage gets done. notice all the shrapnel catchers? it's to demonstrate why you need a hi po bell if you run a hi po engine and cvt. my bet is it was sponsored by a race part manufacturer as inducement to "buy cheap insurance"
@Frank Blackcrow no intent to compare a harley primary belt and cvt, except for the need to vent heat. The cvt system is FORCED AIR COOLED, as originally engineered. Fan on the crank end draws in cool air (notice the front drilling on the cover as well), hot air exhausts from the rear. That cover is not structural, nor drive load bearing, it supports the kicker, and keeps garbage, shoelaces, and fingers out of the cvt. The harley boys who retain an outer primary cover drill them because a belt primary runs DRY, so there is no more oil to conduct heat to the cover, which acts as a radiator. Read the vid description, the failure is encountered under no load high speed spinning, and has nothing to do with "too much cooling", its structural failure due to over speed of the rotating assembly. It NEVER happens under load, where heat loading is FAR more extreme.
@Frank Blackcrow have you ever opened the case on a cvt scoot? Seen the parts inside? Have any clue at all on the mechanics involved? There are no outboard bearings in that cover. The structure is entirely the engine case. The crank side of the cvt has a FAN that passes air longitudinally through the case, completely uninvolved in engine cooling. The clutch slips except under hard acceleration, by design. The variable pulley system is a friction operated system. That left side cover mechanically serves only 1 purpose, to support the kickstart. Beyond that, it controls the airflow that cools the cvt, and keeps foreign objects out of the working parts. That's it, it is not structural, or load bearing except as related to the kicker. While the bike is running, it could be made of paper mache without negatively impacting the mechanism. As to your observation on harley belt drives, you are also uninformed. The fat, open, "custom chopper" belt drives are actually a small portion of those sold. Most are designed to fit unpretentiously within a standard primary cover, to add a far lower maintenance requirement, to reduce weight, and add clutch holding power. The downside is they need venting to aid heat rejection in all but the coolest climates. That is usually accomplished by a louvered derby cover, though some opt to slot and drill the outer primary cover. Examine the machine, not your first year thermodynamics textbook.
yamaha china shit ? why ? if it was a complete AEROX body and frame was no more china shit right ? why explode ? it's very simple .... tuned engine + other tuned parts + stock clutch bell + free wheel rotating = extremely high RPM (maybe 17 K after variator multiply ) ....... so 17000 rot/min on a stock clutch bell ...... what were you expecting ? racing clutch bells got reinforced rings on why he did this ? for you to know there are lots of important parts wich needs upgraded when you tune and increase the power of your engine ....
What the hell are you talking about? Learn how to spell before you start complaining about things. Aerox is not a fucking china scooter, first of all Yamaha is a Japanese brand, and everything that comes from Japan is 500 times better than the equivalent vehicle made in China. And even better, the Aerox is assembled in Italia, and they know what they're doing. Some chinese scooters are good, for example, the Jonway Warrior is great, but most Baotians and Viarellis are just shit
First I dont need to learn perfectly to spell because is not my mother language . Second , I guess you misunderstood my comment , I didnt say Aerox is a china shit .
NorrnasBoy250 yamaha do make a WHOLE load of parts in china now, but its made to a good standard, then shipped to spain (or italy i forget) to be assembled, most manufactures use chinese made parts now, or actually get assembled in china, but to be fair, the chinese have got it right now, very well built, they even use fasteners with a sheer stress higher than the italian ones....
yeah, I remember the good old Days when they made Suzuki PV:s in Finland, the Engine was made in Japan and the frame was welded together in Finland, best fucking moped ever made.

very happy if this happens while cruising as restricted 80-100 kmh
rear tire locked awesme :D
i never seen a clutch do that before
Engine still good
what's with all to these "made in china" comments? Yamaha isn't chinese...
Wow the clutch did hold up at all . The belt was in one part . I bet the had an large spring installed in the factory clutch
Because of the heat, the bell will loose its shape (warp) and will collide w/ the clutch housing. Especially if you're clutch lining is slipping, the more heat it will produce.
1:08 vtec kicked in yo
Yea
Tenkio men
Is japanese jajajajaja
The Clutch Exploded!!! The rest of the CVT may need a good look over lol!!
now i am afraid of riding my scooter
okay thanks for the heads up...
Ive experience that thing. You need to change the primary stick to longer one.
so that we all understand, what caused this was *only* the crazy RPMs on that clutch; the 3 weights inside of it, trying to fly apart, created a force of many tons against the round drum, which was TOO THIN to cope with that
The thing sounded like a jet,the RPMs were just nuts
test was probably done like that on purpose to get a video
CVT explotion? looks like it was just the clutch bell that exploded?
it´s the three-bake-clutch behind the bell wich split in three and burst the bell. You can see two bakes hanging out.
+kattemissen clutch bell couldn't stand the centrifugal forces and the weight of the clutch shoes pushing against the walls of the bell was too much. The clutch itself wouldn't have split.
+Stoneforth 2:24 ??
I would say, there are just broken pieces left of the clutch .. it´s totaly shattered.
Is such a thing possible, so if we go too fast, our engine would be like this ??????
This won't happen while you're actually riding. The CVT wouldn't get to the speeds required to burn it up like that. Yamaha is a Japanese scooter.
went quickly, was it weakened?
In scooter racing u have to use reinforced bell for this reason over here.
great job
is that a common event or is it rare, any leads on what was the reason for that?
my left ear like this video
I had the same thing happen when I gave my 50cc scoot a 150 shot of NOS.
From which scoot is the wheel?
It explodes because he keeps on pressing the brake. That's normal on a cvt.
What is the purpose of this experience?
@mike stradling But the lid of the crankcase is brand: YAMAHA🤔
@mike stradling you mean the centrifugal clutch pulleys?
Por qué pasa ese daño? Que salió mal al armar?
Clutchbell explosion
that happened to me 4 months ago on my scooter it is a baotian and why that happened I don't know can someone tell me why please
damn.... cool explosion but only normal cause it was not designd to run with no resistance ! ive seen these scooters run 90kmh stock !
信号待ちで止まった瞬間エンストしたから何事かと思ったら
某C社のクラッチシューが真ん中から真っ二つになったのを思い出した。
Why would that make it explode?
2:13 that HRC jacket tho!
and you called that a slow motion? I couldn't even see anything!
same here ;) but where are the "eyes cant see more than 23 fps comments?"
Duy Tùng Phạm 2004😛😛
看樣子是傳動外蓋的軸承爆裂引起
It seems that the bearing of the drive cover is bursting.
這實驗CVT證實高速空轉下會爆裂
This experimental CVT confirmed that it would burst under high speed idling.
same thing will happen in a piaggio, no load, clutch shoe force can overcome the clutch bell at high RPMs
うわぁ・・・ここまで行くんだ・・・・
No it is made in japan
that is clutch bell explode, not cvt...
クランクケース?の肉抜きが悪いってことですか??
superglue ?
You need a reinforce clutchbell
Why aircraft engine don`t blow up...they are not also touching the road...
Is that bell made from pressed steel LOL. CNC ones are best.
Incredibile
What happens?
こういうのは参考になります、ちゃんと整備しよう。
Matic 2 tak ??
your 'circle nut' thats holding the spring between your clutch and your converter just got loose you can see it at the end of the video the circle nut is all the way against your clutch bell, so yeah better tighten things well before you rev the engine that high ;) lessons....
What happens when your mum is at home alone😝
How Can this Happen ?
Too much power
@crisvsv I would imagine its to learn more about exploding clutches, which are a serious safety hazard.
why the Clutch Housing EXPLODE
ese pro team controlando el skuick
原因はなんですか?
Theirs was Japanese in the video too.
to silnik od keewaya
seryjny dzwon też mi pękł przy sportowych częściach
więc przy tuningu polecam zmienic dzown no inny
Poor motor :(
Polska przejmuje ten silnik.

@Frank Blackcrow the holes are for ventilation, to let the heat escape. Big twin harley boys do the same to the outer primary when they run a belt

there one good thing at least i can buy his spare tyre for my bike
why the hell did you do that??
Wow Wow wow
how this can happen?
S A PRODUCTION too high centrifugal forces on the stock clutch
@Informatyx Polska przejmuje wszystko. :)
nice explode:-D
