How To Install Headrest Cover w/Shop Vacuum - LeatherSeats.com

Installing headrest covers can be very difficult and without the proper method of installation, you can easily rip and damage the upholstery. There are many methods of installing leather upholstery onto headrests that utilize suction to make the process easier and safer for the upholstery cover. We sell a pneumatic headrest shrinker on our website for professional shops that install headrests day in and day out however for the average DIYer working with automotive upholstery, you can use your shop vacuum as well.
For the Shop Vacuum Method, you will need to have a hose with a simple nozzle that will fit around the headrest post, a thin trash bag/plastic liner to seal around the headrest, and optionally (but highly recommended) a steamer that will heat up the upholstery and make it more pliable during installation. For foam-injected headrests you can install our cover over the factory cloth upholstery however if possible, we recommend removing the original upholstery and installing our cover directly over the headrest foam.
