  • What are Enneagram Type 2’s wings? Do they use both the 1 wing and 3 wing? Beth and Jeff McCord discuss the type 2’s wings, their functions, and how to use them for personal awareness and growth.
    Chapter Markings:
    00:00 - Introduction
    03:40 - Enneagram Type 2 Summary
09:09 - Meet Type 2s Josephine and Sawyer
    12:14- Enneagram 2 wing 1
    32:37 - Enneagram 2 wing 3
The type 2’s wings are the 1 and the 3 because they are the numbers right next to the 2 on the enneagram symbol. Type 2s use these wings in varying degrees in both healthy and unhealthy ways. This podcast discusses how each wing influences the person’s main type and personality, how to know which wing you use more, and how to use these wings for personal awareness and growth.

Thank you, glad I discovered this older vid from you.
As a T2, I'd studied for years, self-taught, I learned so much by watching others and myself. This was well before UA-cam and all these juicy and inspired vids. Then I broke my hip! Well as you can imagine, that totally strips the helper and stops the behavior dead in its tracks. I can say the broken hip was a gift as a fast track to see what I was really doing. The hardest question arose. If I can't help, who am I?

@@YourEnneagramCoach and to this day, I bless the Enneagram as one of the most authentic and powerful healing tools to be found, and the cost is practically free, compared to so many other newer options. All we need is intention, time and love.

Such a great episode! I’m a 2 who just lost my Mom and just spent 2 weeks being with my sister. I loved helping her after our loss. Now I’m tired and headed home to recharge. Thank you!

Great episode! It sounds like your daughter and I might be similar 2s socially. When I'm around people I've known for years and trust I can be very outgoing and love making them laugh. But I can only handle a limited amount of that before I need several hours of quiet alone time to recharge. One of my biggest frustrations is that often I want to be around my loved ones but socializing for me means focusing on the needs of others and always feeling pressured to keep reading the room to ensure no one feels left out or needs anything. This is made a 100x harder by my autism. I can't naturally read people's faces and tones so it took YEARS of analyzing people, movies, books, trial and error, etc before I learned to pick up on visual clues in body language or patterns in speech that tell me how the other person feels. Even now it's a lot of effort and is so draining.
As for the wings, I'm definitely more of a 2w1. I want to make my people happy and take care of them and sometimes that takes the form of me analyzing their wants and needs and just quietly arranging things for them in the background so, for example, they "just happened" to find a pint of the their fav ice cream is always waiting in my freezer when they've had a rough time of it or I'll call my two older siblings to subtly remind them to wish our dad a happy birthday so he won't know they forget the exact date every year and they won't feel bad for mixing up the dates again. The unhealthy 1 side makes me question my own value and weigh how much I'm contributing vs my care needs as a disabled woman. That inner critic constantly makes me question if I'm managing the balance sheet right since I worry about being less valuable or loveable than my able bodied and neurotypical loved ones.
