UPDATE it's been 3 months since I fitted the extra filter and so far it's working perfectly, I made two filters and we swop them over every 2 to 4 weeks and wash them out ready for the next time.

hello there, thank You very much for a fully usefull video, mine own dryer is Siemens WT45W560PL/01 with the same kind selfCleaning condenser and year ago after seven years of proper drying I've got a machine into Service point to clean and after Service Siemens/Bosch cleaning maintenance it's work fine. But next time I'll do this job. I repair a lot of stuff for friends and myself so that's not a problem to dissassembly and get a look inside. The point is to ask You where did You get this black foam, what is it? cause I'd like to cover it in the same way this condenser. Can You explain what kind of foam is or where to buy it? Thank You in advance, You helped a lot. Best wishes from PL🙋🏻

When you did the hosepipe flush in summer did you disconnect the sump pump wires and the black pipe to sump pump at the back please.

No I was lazy and I put the pump still connected in a plastic bag and taped it out of the way so it didn't get wet.

@50plusdad-uk , thank you very much for the videos about this dryer! I have just went through a complete disassembly and cleanup of my Siemens model, which is basically the same as Bosch. One question about this sponge filter you've added - does it stay in place when dryer executes a condenser self-cleaning program? It's quite lot of a water flushed down instantaneously, doesn't it push the filter out? I guess that's why filter sits on 2 pins behind the removable cover on the factory's latest models, as you demonstrated.

Can't speak for the Siemens but on mine i wedged the door contact open so the machine thinks it's shut and then watched what happened as it dumps the water. It's really disappointing there is hardly any water that makes it to the front, so far the filter hasn't moved and is catching really well.

@@50plusdad-uk good idea, I'll definitely try to run p07 service "cleanup" program with door opened and check. With my dryer the front of condenser was actually OK. But all the dust have completely blocked 2nd unit that is deep behind. So I'm under impression that self cleaning actually works, but the problem is that this water rinses just one of the heat exchanges.

@kromanovs it's not a great system is it 🙄, during the summer I had to take the dryer outside so I tried running a hose pipe from the pump housing at the back and let run out the open maintenance flap at the front and let it run for 20mins or so and it seemed to remove some dirt, might be worth a go if it ever needs a strip down again probably a lot easier to do.

@@50plusdad-uk I totally agree. This heat exchanger may be much more cost efficient indeed, but cleanup is a bit of nightmare. I still have my old 14 y.o. Whirlpool with electric heating element and it's much much more serviceable. Machine is easy to clean with just a side panels out. In these 14 years I just had to replace belt once and a pulley.

@kromanovs it's probably not that efficient when it's blocked 😀👍

I’m going to do this for my Samsung heat pump dryer. It’s got the same looking thing on the front and the fins get caked in fluff usually a bit wet in there
