Nice job on finding that ladder. I didn't find it till a bit later. Another fun fact, the path you had found over the flooded part of the keep can be used to skip the hippo fight.
The Messmer fight is great. It's like a crazy dance.
Remember to go back and fully explore the area you discovered with the ladder. It goes a bit further than you think. Also you will need to use a furnace hefty pot to wake up that one furnace golem that is blocking the building. As a holy warrior, it is well worth it.

Gg with Messmer! Truly, in Bleed we trust! I too, recently re-spec from Int-Dex to Arc-Dex because I got frustrated with one boss that you’ll soon meet, and boy oh boy, Bleed is amazing! I used Eleonora’s Pole Blade , but the Rivers of Blood is great too! Glad that you are trying out different strategies! It’s just sad that Hornsent wasn’t summoned in the battle, and got his revenge. But still, the boss fight was great and exciting! PS: the painting you found will lead you to a painter whose reward is an item that will transform you! Don’t forget to check on NPC quest lines as they lead to more adventures!
