Dream stairs 🙌 I think it’s cooler without the rods with this print, looks like a beautiful Persian carpet is cascading down 😻✨ also well done for all this work!!!
Anyone else thinking a giant art piece on the flat wall at the back of the stairs would look amazing? A little surprise for when heading down the stairs
We have never met and it’s very likely we never will (however I’m sure we would get on) but Lucy, I am SO proud of you and all your hard work! What an inspiration!
I love the gold bars! There might be alternative materials, though, that wouldn't be as fancy. Also, using a piece of quarter round at the base of the stairs over the end of the carpet would give a finished look. It could be stained the same color as the stairs. Oh, and I would think about buying a few extra carpets to keep. If Flo scratches anything up, you'd have the carpet to patch with.
Brass rods where carpet matches finishes the look of runner. Under step just where it meets new step. Use the rod, thank me later. Inevitably carpet pulling up happens from wear n tear.hugs from central Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I’m recovering from a major emergency surgery and having severe complications. I’ve cried every day for a week straight. When I saw the notification that you had uploaded I just sucked up how I’m feeling to watch and it was so worth it. The stairs look amazing and I’m so in awe of you! Also the bangs?! Beautiful
Yes to the bars, but not necessarily brass. Brushed nickel maybe? Carpet moves...even if stapled down. I love the art at the top without adding a shelf. Bravo for all your REALLY hard work! Looks truly lovely!
Naah, you dont need these bar-things. It looks so nice and vintagy as it is now. With the bars I think it would be less cozy. Good job btw! I love the carpet pattern and the dark wood looks so beautiful! 😍
Does anyone else have the opinion that if Lucy puts her mind to it, she could literally do anything, because girl, you ROCKED it! You're giving me motivation to get off my bum & do stuff already. I'm loving this. Job well done Lucy! You're the woman!!
Also, love the hair. As for the rods, you could get some the same color as the fixtures in your bathroom & that could tie things together. Just an idea.
Well done on finishing the stairs! The mistakes add a nice touch of personality and a talking point if anything. I vote yes for the gold bars just cuz I think it'll look good with the hanging lights ( especially in gold ) 👍🏿✅
Currently sat in bed, feeding my baby, eating icecream, watching someone fit a stairs runner on youtube and loving every second of it. 😆 Thanks Lucy, the stairs look great and so does your hair 😍
You should be so bloody proud of yourself. The stairs look amazing. All that hard work sweat, tears and hours has really payed off. Well done Lucy. Amazing job ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve loved watching all your DIY videos, I can see why you’re so proud of yourself. I hope after a well deserved rest you continue to film your house updates. I love all your videos, and I’ve really enjoyed watching this series alongside doing my own diy. I think the stairs look fab on their own without the rods, plus I’d always be thinking I’d trip up on the rods! P.S I’m digging the fringe!
Woweeee! It looks sooo good. What a difference! Honestly, the fact you persevered so much just adds to how fantastic the outcome is. As someone who has owned an oldish house for coming up to 3 years, being able to keep going with DIY is half the battle and you've done amazingly well. Also - in our house we like to say there are no right angles - older houses are usually a bit wonky which makes doing precise things even more challenging, so when you're focusing on small details not being 100%, honestly, no one else will notice and it's often as good as you can get with houses lacking in parallel lines!
You should be so proud, they look fantastic! When it comes to the runner rods, I'm so clumsy I can't help but envision myself somehow stubbing my toe, so I think they look a bit uninviting.
Agree totally about the reasons not to have a fully wood staircase! Looks lovely but the noise and slipping!!! I’ve lived somewhere with this exact issue
Good on you for accomplishing such a massive DIY task, you're right to be proud of yourself it looks amazing and you've proved you're more than capable of doing a really good job of it 💕 an absolute inspiration
You should absolutely be so proud of yourself! You did an absolutely great job! I am not shocked at all that you did it, after the hell you went through with the paint removal, you girl can do anylthing!
Im so proud girllll! That was immense work and you killed it! In regards to the golden thingy, you may want to consider how much space it takes from the step. It looks like it may not make a difference but those 2-3cm could be what makes and uncomfortable walking. I think what you done is absolutely perfect!
From a complete stranger watching from lockdown i am also very proud of you for finishing this and it looks so good!!! I vote no for the rods as well😝 well done Lucy!!
Waaaaaaweeee! You SHOULD be proud! Also I do love stair rods but this looks really sort of timeless & cottagey. Once the bannister is stained it’s going to be *chefs kiss* x
Lucy, you are amazing!!!! The stairs look beautiful and the colour of the stain goes so well with the colours in the carpet. I would vote No for the bars, the carpet is the feature.
I’m so proud of you deciding you wanted it and you did it 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 it looks absolutely amazing! The whole process was probably completely crazy but you stuck with it!
I absolutely love it. Looks great! Regarding the bars, what I know (also not an expert) is that the bars are used to fasten a runner that is not attached to the stairs so that you are able to change it or give it a proper wash. They look pretty but I would say not necessary
Love it!! It looks amazing. I would stain the handle rail first. Then look for your fabulous new light fitting. Stair clips could be an option too?? But wow, stair goals. Who knew this could be a thing?
It looks SO GOOD! I was thinking about the bars as you were asking about them. I’d do them. If it was plain wall-to-wall carpet on the stairs, I wouldn’t. But a pretty runner needs pretty hardware. And a piece of 1/4 round trim at the base to finish where the carpet meets the tile. You inspired me to redo my stairs. I feel your pain & exhaustion, and your elation at getting the job finished and not mucking up the house.
The stairs look amazing!!! Defo don't need the carpet rods across the back I think it would be too busy for such a small space. Love the idea of a midcentury pendant to fill the void though! And the fringe looks so good!!
Looks lovely and don’t worry about the wonky bit, it’s the charm of DIY. I wouldn’t do the gold bar thing, it’s a bit stuffy and state building-esque. Your home is looking fab 🥳
Fantastic job!! I’m loving the DIY’s! I like the idea of brass looking rods for the carpet (or the same tone as the pendant light) I think that would look fab x
Stairs are totally fabulous! I’d add the bars only if they give a good amount of structural support (I’ve no idea if they are useful or just cosmetic!!) They don’t need them for looks, but saving future troubles with wear and tear issues may be very valuable : )
It looks so good! With regards to Flo's scratching.. It might help to give her something else (better) to scratch right there at the top of the stairs. There are these really cute scratchposts in the shape of a cactus. I'm sure you can find something in your style!
You did amazingly!! I never thought of using runner rugs for the stairs??!! What a fab idea!! And you don't need an air nailer (as you realized). The stairs look amazing! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I don't think you need the carpet rods.
I feel like if you added a bar it would look nice. But like a super subtle bar! Like maybe just a plain gold with no embellishments. So you can see it but it’s not taking all your focus off the carpet. The stairs look STUNNING though so it doesn’t really need bars if you don’t want to have another bill.
I’m going to miss the carpet diaries 😂😂😂😂 well done Lucy! i would go no rods for this particular staircase, I think it looks perfect just the way it is. Thank you for the entertainment! ❤️❤️❤️ xxx
this was such an enormous project and you took it on and literally NAILED IT!!! I am so happy to hear that you are so proud of yourself, because you should be!!!
Looks amazing! Well done! I’m mid way through a diy project atm and your happy//proud is giving me energy to carry on-Thankyou I’m team no bar because the pattern is so nice and busy already
The stairs look AMAZING!! 😍 I don't think aesthetically speaking they 'need' those metal bars, but if you think it would help keep the carpet stuck down for longer, then I think they would look nice ☺️
Congrats Lucy, it looks so impressive and with the finished handrail it will be perfect! I love the crisp white in contrast with the darker brown, it brightens the space up. And I really think it elevates your home so much compared to before
Definately worth a thumbs up, well done you. I think metal stays would look really nice and match the metal buts holding the bannister , but also looks fine as it is. If you dont want to replace that bit of carpet you'll need to glue the stray bits so they dont continue to fray i think. But well done again its looks brilliant ! 👍😊
You’ve gone and gotten me completely invested in your bathroom makeover, and now your stairs makeover. Is this adulthood? Can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
Loving these stairs! Impressive work! I wouldn’t do the bars, as I think it might be a bit much for how small the stairs are, but if you do go for them I would suggest maybe choosing brass rather than gold.
YES! It looks so good, you did an awesome job! Well worth it. I feel you on that one step and the wonky top, you could try living with it for a while and see if it really bugs you enough to try and fix it? I like the idea of the runner rods, I'm sure you can get all different colours!
It looks great Lucy! Maybe see if you could get a few sample rods in different finishes…brass, chrome, black even? put them on a few steps for a day and see if you like them? No idea if this is possible but worth a try!
The stairs look awesome Lucy! I’d leave them without the bars, just cause I think a simpler look is nice in a small space. As a DIYer myself I know that feeling, it’s the best! It’s amazing what you can do when you put your mind and effort into it.
The stairs look ahhhhmmazing!!! I am so impressed (and now disappointed I don’t have any stairs in my house to make over). I hope you are so proud of your work because the stairs look gorgeous!
Yay this looks amazing 👏. I would vote yes to stair rods as I love them but it looks fab without too. I also love the idea of a pendant light and your fringe!
Dream stairs 🙌 I think it’s cooler without the rods with this print, looks like a beautiful Persian carpet is cascading down 😻✨ also well done for all this work!!!
Agreed xx
i am way too invested in your stairs malarkey but i do not care at all i am living for the stairs content
Hahaha I can't believe this is what my content has become but here we are 😎
@@LucyJaneWood I absolutely love it too 😍
LUCY IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!! I'm obsessed! 😍
Anyone else thinking a giant art piece on the flat wall at the back of the stairs would look amazing? A little surprise for when heading down the stairs
I was thinking a long gold framed arch mirror
If it doesn’t come up too expensive, I vote YES to the carpet rods! Stairs look amazing!
We have never met and it’s very likely we never will (however I’m sure we would get on) but Lucy, I am SO proud of you and all your hard work! What an inspiration!
Incredible 🤩🤩 seeing your “give it a go” mentality has me believing I can make amazing magical transformations to my house too - here for a power tool
I love the gold bars! There might be alternative materials, though, that wouldn't be as fancy. That's what I was thinking, too - extra reinforcement.
The absolute undisputed queen of DIY right here!
I’m recovering from a major emergency surgery and having severe complications. I’ve cried every day for a week straight. Best wishes.
Hey, I‘m rewatching Lucy‘s homecontent and well, I hope you are doing better!
The staircase looks amazing. No gold bars needed. You did an amazing job. How accomplished you must feel. DIY projects are the best.
love the stairs as they are ! i don’t think they need the bars tbh
you have the patience of a saint and your impression of a whinging staple gun gave me a stitch
You've done an amazing job and took on something most would absolutely not even consider doing. You're bloody brilliant!
Does anyone else have the opinion that if Lucy puts her mind to it, she could literally do anything, because girl, you ROCKED it! You're giving me motivation to get off my bum & do stuff already. I'm loving this. Job well done Lucy! You're the woman!!

Well done on finishing the stairs! The mistakes add a nice touch of personality and a talking point if anything.
I vote yes for the gold bars just cuz I think it'll look good with the hanging lights ( especially in gold ) 👍🏿✅
I am seriously so impressed you did this all by yourself! It looks so good and I love your Gung-ho diy attitude
Currently sat in bed, feeding my baby, eating icecream, watching someone fit a stairs runner on youtube and loving every second of it. 😆 Thanks Lucy, the stairs look great and so does your hair 😍
I've never been more invested in a staircase in my life but this was amazing.
You should be so bloody proud of yourself. The stairs look amazing. All that hard work sweat, tears and hours has really payed off. Well done Lucy. Amazing job ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lucy - I'm so impressed with your determination on this project. You should be so proud of yourself.
i am SO IMPRESSED by the work you did on these stairs, it's so beautiful!!! 👏👏👏 You can be proud of you!
I’ve loved watching all your DIY videos, I can see why you’re so proud of yourself. I hope after a well deserved rest you continue to film your house updates. The stairs are beautiful and I vote yes to the bars for a nice finishing touch to that type of carpet. Your hair is adorable 🥰🥰
They look amazing!! I feel weirdly proud because you did it all by yourself and it turned out so good!! A true diy-queen in the making 👸👸🔨🧰
I love that you are willing to try. You can always have someone fix thing but you never know until you try. I think the carpet bars would be lovely.
Exactly! Gotta give these things a try 💪
Woweeee! It looks sooo good. What a difference! Honestly, the fact you persevered so much just adds to how fantastic the outcome is. The bars can equal sore toes if the step isn't long enough.
You done a fab job Lucy really love the look of it. Your home is really coming together
You should be so proud, they look fantastic!
When it comes to the runner rods, I'm so clumsy I can't help but envision myself somehow stubbing my toe, so I think they look a bit uninviting.
Lucy you did an INCREDIBLE job! Stair rods would look amazing but it would be an extra expense. Love the pattern of the rugs.
Oh Yes!!! Been looking forward to seeing the finished stairs!!
BTW Loving the hair! Gorgeous!
Ahhh thank you so much! 🧡

Lucy forever inspiring me to DIY ♥️ thank goodness for UA-cam tutorials where would we be without them? Looks fantastic! 😍

Who knew i would be this gripped by a carpet saga. Its great!
Ahhhhhhhh so exciting!!! This just shows if you want something, go for it!
Yes! Or alternatively hire someone who actually knows what they're doing 😅 but still x
@@LucyJaneWood We wouldn't get this wonderful content if you had just hired someone else!! Things made with love are always better
Looks amazing! I think it’s cuter without the bars, more cosy and homely ❤️
Yes to adding the bars!! And yes to a big hanging light!!
Great job Lucy! Rods would possibly be too fussy. Maybe wait till you’ve stained the banister and put in the new shelf and light.
Lucy, you are amazing!!!! The stairs look beautiful and the colour of the stain goes so well with the colours in the carpet. I would vote No for the bars, the carpet is the feature.

You should be proud! You did an amazing job, the staircase looks fabulous
You can buy those bars/brackets in black wrought iron and sometimes the bar is twisted.
You have honestly done such an incredible job! I am so bloody impressed
The way that was filmed was like it was Florence saying “you got the nail gun working” 😂😂
Omg this cracked me up 😂 such a deep voice Flo! 😂
You should paint the walls a really pale baby blue, I think it would complement the colours of the rug and gold beautifully
Ladies amd gents this is what success looks like! Good job Lucy! 🙌🏻
